[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign.
Hey, this is Lacey with Smartcast, and I'm here today with Paige from Skin Better and Amber, one of our long term estheticians. And we're going to chat a little bit today about moving in from our summer spring skincare routines into our more fall and winter, as well as go over some exciting information about two of their new product launches that they've had this year at Skin Better, which I am personally using and loving.
So I'm excited to give you guys some more information about that as well. Thank you. Thank you both for being here.
[00:00:52] Speaker B: Good morning. Happy to be here.
[00:00:54] Speaker A: Yes. So, Amber, let's start, start with you. You've been here for a couple of seasons now. Like you've been through all the seasons with our clients here at Smart Skin. Tell me, do the clients come to you and say, hey, I'm feeling like I need to change up my skincare routine with the seasons, or is that something that you're initiating with them? How is that conversation going for you in the treatment room?
[00:01:18] Speaker C: So personally, I usually will initiate the conversation or it'll come up with, you know, you know, a complaint about, you know, I've really been dry lately or oh, gosh, I really noticed my pigmentation. You know, I was at the lake a lot more this this summer and I'm really noticing that pigmentation came back. You know, maybe we had done some treatments last winter or something, you know, and so I'll have sometimes clients just bring up some concerns and I'll usually notice when it's coming up the same time of the year. You know, it's, it's a lot of times kind of our environmental changes and things like that.
But so it's a mix, people bringing it up, but me kind of connecting those do for them.
[00:01:56] Speaker A: Yeah, well, especially too, like if you're getting ready to prepare for laser treatments, microneedling treatments, things like that, ultimately you're gonna have them on some pre and post treatment skin care regimens as well. And then of course, like, especially once we start cranking up those heaters and stuff, their skin's gonna dry out big time and they're gonna need to move into a more hydrating moisturizer and stuff.
[00:02:20] Speaker C: Like, the Trio looks my favorite, actually. I love Trio Lux. It makes such a difference for me and it's an absolute staple and necessity going into the fall and winter.
[00:02:29] Speaker A: Yes, for sure.
So, Paige, tell me about the new maestro we have both available for younger skin types and older skin types or more mature skin types. Tell me the differences between them and what you love about each one.
[00:02:46] Speaker B: Sure.
So Maestro Revive Renewing Serum is officially launching tomorrow, October 1st. We're really excited about it. It incorporates our plant Adaptogen technology, which is in both versions of Maestro. But Maestro Revive has four new Adaptogens in also has our TAP technology, which is one of our antioxidant platforms that everyone should be familiar with from Alto Advanced.
And it is really more nourishing and more hydrating for the skin. There's a 30 increase in hydration immediately when you apply Maestro Revive. And the clinical study showed a 107% increase in elastin and a 26% increase in collagen 1, which is the most abundant collagen in the skin. So it's really going to help with the issues that arise during perimenopause and menopausal skin.
So with those patients, they're going to see better benefits from Maestro Revive than the original Maestro Active. Maestro Active is still going to be available and definitely the right fit for some patients.
Patients who are not in those seasons of life yet can stay with Maestro Active. And then patients who have entered those seasons of life will switch over to Maestro Revive. So definitely hydration, nourishment, collagen, and elastin support with Maestro Revive.
[00:04:27] Speaker A: What age group are you seeing most frequently bumping up to that next step?
[00:04:33] Speaker B: So, you know, as women, this season of life hits all of us at different times, so it can definitely be very dependent on the individual person. But typically around mid-40s and above, we're recommending Maestro Revive and then Maestro Active for everyone else. They both target redness, dullness, rough texture, uneven pigmentation, so like discoloration and enlarged pores.
So supporting those five things, regardless of which version you choose. But then we know as we enter menopause and that season of life, we are starting to see more dryness in our skin. At that point point a lot of times we start to lose more of our elasticity. We'll see fine lines and wrinkles starting to show up even more. So that's when we would recommend switching to Maestro Revive at that point.
[00:05:34] Speaker A: Yeah, well, I have pretty oily skin and I'm 40 this year, but I did go ahead and upgrade to the new one and I really like it a lot. I feel like I don't typically even need a moisturizer, but especially with this, I don't need a moisturizer. And I'm also using the Even Intensive, which tends to dry me out a little bit. So the new Maestro tends to kind of compensate for That a little bit Great.
[00:05:58] Speaker B: Yeah, that totally makes sense that it would be balancing it out. It does feel very hydrating. Even when you apply it to your skin for the first time, you can feel that deep hydration.
[00:06:09] Speaker A: Yeah, I feel like it absorbs into my skin even better than it did previously.
[00:06:14] Speaker B: Good. Happy to hear that for sure.
[00:06:16] Speaker A: Yes. So you gave kind of an analogy to the girls the last time we did a lunch and learn on this product when it was launching, about it being kind of like Tylenol. So tell our listeners about that analogy.
[00:06:31] Speaker B: Sure.
[00:06:32] Speaker A: It just kind of clicked when you said that. I was like, oh, that's perfect.
[00:06:35] Speaker B: Definitely. So I love a good analogy and with Maestro, because it does so many different things either. Maestro. So Maestro technology does a lot of different things. Things for our skin. So I like to say that it is like Tylenol. So if Lacey, if you have a headache, I have a backache. The Tylenol that we take is going to help both of us, even though we have different concerns, different reasons why we pulled it out of the medicine cabinet in the first place.
[00:07:10] Speaker A: But not at school, right?
[00:07:12] Speaker B: Not at school.
[00:07:14] Speaker A: Because over the counter, Tylenol is not allowed at school.
[00:07:18] Speaker B: So. So with that being said, you know, Maestro is finding the issue that we have or the imbalance, and it's fixing it. So a lot of times we'll say it's like AI for the skin. I love the Tylenol analogy, too.
[00:07:33] Speaker A: So, like, if your primary concern was maybe a little bit of redness and mine was more of discoloration, it would reduce your redness and reduce my sun damage and hyperpigmentation. And allow those other products that we're using to work even better as well.
[00:07:47] Speaker B: Exactly, yes. Restoring health and balance to the skin means that you're going to see a bigger difference from the rest of your regimen and procedures, too. Healthy skin responds better to everything.
[00:08:01] Speaker A: Yes. And I would say, too, for people that are on a budget or they are, you know, only going to use one product, this is going to be a really great product for them because it's going to address a little bit of everything. But then, of course, if you're a product connoisseur and you love it all, it's going to make those other skincare products work even better.
[00:08:19] Speaker B: Better.
[00:08:20] Speaker A: It's going to enhance your results from those as well.
[00:08:23] Speaker B: Definitely beneficial for everyone's regimen, for sure.
[00:08:26] Speaker A: So, I mean, it has a place for everybody, for sure.
So even intensive, we love her. She's our queen.
So tell me the difference between the original and then the new Intensive.
[00:08:43] Speaker B: Sure. So even Intensive is going to be better for patients who have more stubborn, persistent discoloration, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, that those are the annoying darker spots that we sometimes have left after, you know, a breakout or a scar or something like that.
It includes ingredients that are helping with exfoliation, so it has an enhanced resurfacing benefit from glycolic, lactic and citric acid acid. So helping to exfoliate the skin is a big difference from even tone, original and even intensive.
Even Intensive also has a different form of vitamin C in it. It's called aminopropolis scorbyl phosphate. That form helps to prevent the breakdown of hyaluronic acid in our skin, which is our body's natural moisturizer. And as we're aging, we produce less sha. That's one of the reasons why we're losing that like plump, hydrated look to our skin. So the form of vitamin C and even Intensive actually helps with that as well. And then of course, brightening the skin, it also has transexamic acid in it, which is a hydroquinone alternative that I'm sure a lot of listeners have heard of. It's very effective for stubborn discoloration, really assisting and helping it to get to where you want it to be and then keep it there over time for maintenance. So the original Eventone incorporated the same technology with addressing different forms of discoloration. But even Intensive is going to be more exfoliating and really targeting that stubborn discoloration that many people struggle with.
[00:10:38] Speaker A: How is that tolerated with the alpharettes in your collection, since it is more exfoliating and it's got the lactic and salicylic in it? Like, how is it going to pair with those and the vitamin C as well? Are they going to layer those together in the same night or are they going to alternate those? Like, what's your recommendation for that?
[00:10:57] Speaker B: Definitely. So we do recommend using them together.
It's really important to continue your Alpharette. You want that retinoid technology in your routine so you keep the cell turnover going and all the additional anti aging benefits. I like to. That's your nighttime anti aging treatment product. It rejuvenates our skin while we're sleeping, so we definitely want to keep that going. It has additional peptides in it too, which are really important for our regimen. But the retinoid technology in and of itself is reason enough to continue using it as a complement with Even Intensive and then with your vitamin C. So With Alto Advanced as an extension example, that is our comprehensive antioxidant, that one is still going to be beneficial in addition to Even Intensive because it has a more comprehensive approach at protecting us from environmental damage that causes a lot of the premature aging process.
So even though Even Intensive includes vitamin C, Alto Advanced has 20 antioxidants working together to also protect us from things like the blue light from our devices, the heat from the sun, pollution in the air, things like that.
So I look at Even Intensive as a complementary targeted treatment for anyone that is concerned with discoloration.
Where your Alpharette and your Alto cover two of the most important core steps in a medical grade skincare regimen.
[00:12:33] Speaker A: Perfect. And then so I'm gonna ask both of you a question about regimens and if Amber, you would tell me a skincare regimen that you would recommend for someone in their early to mid-40s.
And she's heard a lot about skin Better, so she's interested in kind of sticking with one brand.
What would be a regimen that you would recommend for her if she were a busy mom. But she really likes skincare and she does her best to be compliant with her products. But maybe she might forget a step or two at nighttime when she's really tired.
[00:13:12] Speaker C: Yeah, for sure.
So we're definitely making sure she's on the Trio. Whether it be the, you know, traditional Trio moisturizer or even the Luxe, they're going to both be great. Honestly, I have a lot of people that use the regular Trio during the day and the Lux at night, especially if we're using, you know, our retinols and things like that, just to make sure everything's balanced.
I would definitely have her on the Alto Advanced just to protect her skin and make sure that we're fighting those environmental factors, you know, depending on her texture and discoloration. I do love the Even Intensive, but also that Alpharette. That Alpharette line is so good. And I always talk about the Alpharette pads, the peel pads.
If you are using those, especially in conjunction, I mean, they're very tolerable. You're going to see some incredible improvements in your skin.
And then so I would also say, you know, I really love if she's having some issues around the eyes, the instant eye, I like to use that one during the day. And then going back, I like to use the Alpha Red at night. Again, I'm seeing such an improvement in tone, texture, tightening of the skin skin and just really maintaining a nice, healthy, youthful look.
[00:14:39] Speaker B: Anything you would add to that Paige, definitely. So, yeah, I think, Amber, you covered so many important steps that I would recommend too.
This sounds totally obvious, but, you know, making sure that she's on a sunscreen and she's actually using it daily is something that I always recommend for every single person. A lot of us, probably all of us have had some bad experiences with sunscreens in the past.
So, you know, I always say the right sunscreen for you is the one you're going to use. So let's find one that you like. And I think that in and of itself is so vitally important. We have a couple of different textures as well as tinted and untinted. So helping them find something that they really enjoy using can be really beneficial. And then the year the untinted sunscreens are Approved for ages 6 months and up. So that could be a great recommendation for her children too. I love the sunscreen stick for my kids.
So, yeah, adding in that sunscreen and then I always talk about Maestro. Maestro is my personal favorite product and something that I really believe takes your skin to the next level.
So it's something that I often introduce.
[00:16:01] Speaker A: Use.
Perfect. And then my next patient that I'm going to ask you about, Paige, is a high school student who's an athlete and she has a busy schedule. But she's breaking out and wants to make sure that she's taking care of her skin, keeping it under control. But it's also budget friendly as well.
[00:16:20] Speaker B: Definitely. So the first and most important thing is always cleansing. Right. So our refining foam cleanser is great. Great. It's an exfoliating cleanser, but it's gentle enough to use on a twice daily basis.
It helps to brighten the skin and it doesn't strip the skin of its natural moisture. I should also mention we don't test on anyone under 18, but often our practices do recommend products for patients under 18.
[00:16:49] Speaker A: My 14 year old used it last night.
[00:16:51] Speaker B: Yes. Great example, for sure.
So in addition to cleansing, as a, as crazy as it sounds with cleansing, I like to tell them to count when they're cleansing, count to 60 to make sure that they're actually washing their face long enough. Sometimes it's hard for us to slow down in our busy days and really cleanse our skin thoroughly.
[00:17:13] Speaker A: We used to do that with brushing their teeth. Now we have to do it for washing their face.
[00:17:17] Speaker B: Like a timer.
[00:17:18] Speaker A: A little timer, yes.
[00:17:19] Speaker B: In the bathroom. Be really helpful for that. Yeah. A song. Whatever it takes. Right. So cleansing thoroughly for sure. Double cleanse at night. Cleansing once in the morning is totally fine. And then beyond that, often Alpharet Clearing Serum and Alpharet Peel Pads would be recommended in this situation.
So really getting that cell turnover going, helping to clear and prevent those breakouts more quickly and then also calming the skin at the same time. Clearing serum incorporates hydrating and calming and soothing ingredients too. And a lot of times inflammation is tied to breakout, so we want to address both of those things and then back to sunscreen again. So definitely a good sunscreen.
The other thing that sometimes I do recommend is our hydration boosting cream. It's our lightweight moisturizer and it is a more budget friendly price point. It's a 1.7 ounce product, so you're still getting a lot in there.
And it is tested and approved for blemish prone skin. So that's always a good option too. So just basics, right? Cleanse, treat, moisturize, sunscreen, perfect.
[00:18:33] Speaker A: And if mom happened to have even intensive, would that be something that you would recommend that they use sometimes too? Especially if they have like a little bit of pih from breakouts?
[00:18:43] Speaker B: Sure. Potentially maybe nighttime only would be a good option just to start out, but yeah, definitely. A lot of times, you know, we have those marks left over after breakouts and they can linger a lot longer than the breakout itself. So helping to address those is always a good idea.
[00:19:02] Speaker A: And how often would you recommend that they use the pill pads in the.
[00:19:07] Speaker B: Alpharette so the clearing serum can be used nightly. The peel pads can be up to three nights a week. So it depends on the person. Typically if she's a little bit more on the oily side, then we would say three nights a week. Usually I recommend Monday, Wednesday and Friday night, just so it's easy to remember when you're using them. And then over time, about two to three months in, if you want to transition to just twice a week, that's totally fine. This can also be very seasonal kind of focused where, you know, in the warmer months of the year, a lot of times we have more congestion and patients coming in with congestion as well. So a lot of times I'll increase peel pad usage in the summer and then recommend backing off a little bit in the winter, especially if they have combination skin.
[00:19:59] Speaker A: Yeah. And I think that, you know, I think a lot of times really great medical grade skincare doesn't get the credit that it deserves because great skincare can make an incredible difference in your skin.
There are times that I don't have time to do treatments. All I have time to do is my skincare regimen at home and just doing the skin scan alone to be able to see the difference in my skin when I'm using a really great skin care regimen and when I'm being lazy and not will hurt your feelings.
So I can definitely tell by my skin scan results when I've been very diligent with my skincare at home and when I haven't been.
So I think that it's really important, especially if you're trying to level up your skincare results, not only doing your services with us, but your, your skincare at home makes such a big difference. It really is your diet to your exercise with us. You know, it's really important that you're doing your part especially too if you're working on sun damage and hyperpigmentation, that you're doing the prep work and you're protecting your skin and you're wearing your SPFs and you're using your melanin inhibitors and you're doing all the things that you can to help lower that inflammation in your body and lower the, you know, that melanin production to be able to help your results with your services to be more effective.
[00:21:21] Speaker B: Definitely.
[00:21:22] Speaker A: Anything else you want to add, Amber advice for clients getting ready to move into these cooler months?
[00:21:30] Speaker C: I mean, I would definitely say if you're going to make an investment, especially on treatments, the skin care really is that insurance policy and you'll even see more improvement to build upon any treatments you do. You know, I even compare it to, you know, it's the brushing and flossing, you know, and you, you come to us for the, the deep cleans and stuff like that, you know, but, you know, there's something really for everybody out there and it's just about kind of finding those and plugging them into your routine.
[00:22:00] Speaker A: Yeah, well, perfect. Well, as a special offer for all of our listeners listening to this episode today, you can either schedule a complimentary skincare consultation, whether that's virtual or in person. If you do it in person, of course, we can do a skin scan and monitor your progress as, as well. But you can either schedule just a consultation for skincare or if you add any skin better products of any of our core products. If you mention this podcast, you'll get a free skinbetter travel size product which is half the size of a full size product. So it's actually a very nice amount of product. It's a very, it's a great value.
So mention this podcast if you purchase that product, whether it's consultation only or you add it to your service, and we will give you that travel size product, which I love. They're great. Little, little bottles, too. And they're easy to travel with, which I love.
[00:22:56] Speaker B: So definitely convenient.
[00:23:00] Speaker A: Well, thank you both for being here today. And thank you all for listening in on today's episode of smartcast. And we'll see you next week.
Sam.
