[00:00:21] Speaker A: Hey, this is Lacey with smartcast, and I'm here today with Alexis, your estie bestie.
[00:00:25] Speaker B: Hey.
[00:00:26] Speaker A: Here to just chit chat about all things smart skin. So, Alexis, what's been going on?
[00:00:32] Speaker B: Nothing much.
Got over the flu. I love talking about that. But it was the worst experience of my life, and I felt so beaten down and ugly after because I had stayed in bed for, like, 10 days straight.
[00:00:48] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:00:48] Speaker B: So I had to come back and get some. Get some goods done on my face.
[00:00:52] Speaker A: What did you do when you came back to revive yourself?
[00:00:55] Speaker B: Well, first of all, I had to give myself a dermaplane or had Hannah give it to me because I was literally crusty, dusty, and all the things above.
And then I also had Dr. Jody give me a little bit of filler in my chin and then from some product that she had, and I don't know what it was.
[00:01:14] Speaker A: I forgot what an rha.
[00:01:16] Speaker B: I think it was rha. And then she also gave me some talk. Some toxin in my chin. I have that problem, like, where when I make, like, the frowny face, I get really bad dimpling in my chin.
[00:01:29] Speaker A: Orange pill.
[00:01:29] Speaker B: Yes, the orange. It looks like an orange peel. And I'm like, okay, I'm 25 years old. What's happening here?
[00:01:35] Speaker A: Your chin looks great.
[00:01:36] Speaker B: Yeah. She did a really good job. And, like, ever since I got it done, people are like, something looks different about you. I just can't pinpoint it. Which is, like, the best kind of filler exactly. When they're like, what did you get? I know you. You might have gotten something done, but I can't.
[00:01:50] Speaker A: Refreshed. But we're not sure right. From what.
[00:01:53] Speaker B: Right. Like, no one wants to be able to pinpoint exactly what you got done to your face, because that means that.
[00:01:58] Speaker A: Did you get a B12 shot or anything? B12.
[00:02:01] Speaker B: I did zinc, actually. Nice. I did the zinc one because I have never done that one before, but I was struggling. We've had a lot of.
[00:02:10] Speaker A: We've had a lot of clients calling and texting about having migraines and things from just the weather changing and the pollen in the air. And so a lot of people are adding lymphatic drainage to their hydrafacials or they're doing ultrasound elite with the steam to help kind of relieve some of that sinus pressure. So there's nothing better than a nice, relaxing facial to help ease the. The woes of the spring.
[00:02:34] Speaker B: Everyone's dry right now. Also, like, if you're feeling dry, don't feel like you're the only One, because literally everybody who lays down in my chair has been some sort of flaky, dry, dehydrated, from the hot to cold to hot to cold. It's supposed to be cold again this weekend.
And also antihistamines, dry your skin out, right? Antibiotics, dry your skin out.
[00:02:59] Speaker A: What kinds of services are you recommending to your patients that are coming in with a dry, flaky skin?
[00:03:03] Speaker B: I've pretty much given everybody, like an elite, an ultrasound elite, to get that hydration back. And I have been adding the bore effect booster into a couple of people's as well, because they do have a booster that's exfoliating, but it's also hydrating. So, like, if you feel like you have that dead skin that you can't resurface off with, like a peel pad, a chemical of some kind, you can get that abrasiveness and also hydrate at the same time. So.
[00:03:30] Speaker A: And what about skincare recommendations right now?
[00:03:33] Speaker B: Lots of Trio Lux, because it is the winter and you need that extra hydration. And then I have been doing the Barrier Pro system for a lot of people as well, because I feel like it just really does get your skin, like, on track. And it doesn't have any added scents or anything, which also fragrance can really upset the skin if it's, like, really dry and angry. So I've been doing a lot of the Barrier pros.
[00:03:59] Speaker A: I love Barrier Pro for my rosacea friends just because they have that compromised skin barrier. And the Barrier Pro really does create that nice, you know, buffer.
[00:04:09] Speaker B: Yeah, it's almost like a. Like a sealant for the skin. I really like it. And then I've been doing for the people who are. Are trying to rush in and get something done invasive. Because it's about to be summer, spring break, summer, everybody's about to be in the sun. We did just get the Nuva Derm.
[00:04:28] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:04:28] Speaker B: And that's been super fun. I literally have grid marks, like, all over my body right now because I've been, like, testing all my freckles and, like, stretch marks and stuff, just because I love to test things on myself before I recommend it to clients.
So I can see the downtime and things like that. But it has been amazing for my freckles on my arms. I don't have a ton of freckles, but whatever ones I do have are super noticeable.
[00:04:56] Speaker A: I love that there's so many different things that you can do with Anova Derm. Like, I had Dr. Jodi and Dr. Eason do my arms. Cause I had, like, this really weird KP rash all over my arms. And it was really kind of creeping me out. But I had them. Like, Dr. Jody did one arm and Dr. Eason did the other arm. And literally, it's almost completely gone with one treatment. And Isabella's face was breaking out so bad. Like, I really thought I was going to have to take her back to the dermatologist, but she came in on Saturday and Heather gave her anuva glow one treatment. Every bit of the acne is completely gone.
[00:05:28] Speaker B: And y'all, Izzy, Isabella, her pain tolerance is zero. Not kidding. She. Bless her heart, I love her so much.
[00:05:37] Speaker A: She's a whiny little.
[00:05:38] Speaker B: Whiny.
[00:05:38] Speaker A: She's a little whiny baby in the best way.
[00:05:40] Speaker B: But if she was not complaining about the NOA glow, that's perfect.
[00:05:44] Speaker A: And she.
Last night was, like, low key. That laser really did work.
Because these kids are so picky and they're so funny because they're just very, like, they don't trust anything. I don't think anything's going to happen.
[00:05:57] Speaker B: Except for Tick Tock.
[00:05:58] Speaker A: Except for Tick Tock. And, like, Bailey is really weird about stuff, too, and she doesn't think anything works ever. And even she's like, this laser works because she had some skin on her face from some previous breakouts and she's done two so far, and her skin is night and day.
[00:06:14] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:06:14] Speaker A: But she doesn't really break out very easily. But she did have some, like, KP bumps and she had, like, a few little breakouts just randomly out of nowhere, I guess. Just hormonal or whatever. But she had some, like, PAH marks from it, and those are almost totally gone now. I mean, she's a believer. She's. She's into it.
[00:06:33] Speaker B: Yeah. And she's a skeptical girl, so she loves it. It must be amazing.
[00:06:38] Speaker A: I'm really excited to try my legs next because I get KP on my legs also. And then I have, like, really weird, like, alligator skin on lower legs. So I'm so interested to see how that does.
[00:06:51] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm just gonna have to, like, do my entire body at least once before summer starts because.
[00:06:57] Speaker A: Well, the cool thing about this one, though, remember, is it's attracted to water, so it's safe for all skin types. And you can do it all year long.
[00:07:02] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:07:03] Speaker A: So it's not like you don't have to stop doing this treatment in the summertime.
[00:07:06] Speaker B: I completely forgot about that. I do love that it is attracted to the water. So as many of y'all know, IPL Intense plan. Pulse light is a machine that helps with pigment redness, skin rejuvenation, all the, all of that stuff. But it attracts itself to the pigment in your skin. It kind of cancels out the skin color of your skin tone. And it only looks for those dark colors or those red colors. But with this nuva derm, when we're looking for pigment in the skin, it's searching for the water that's already in your skin.
[00:07:38] Speaker A: So come hydrated.
[00:07:39] Speaker B: Yeah, definitely come high hydrated. But it's attaching to that water in your skin and it's pulling the pigment up that way. So for our fifth Patrick's three, four, five, all of them, the nuviderm is definitely the best because it's not going to actually target your pigment, so it won't give you any chance to have hyperpigmentation of scarring.
[00:07:59] Speaker A: It's not going to cause. Cause hypo pigmentation either from over treating.
[00:08:03] Speaker B: And actually it can treat hyperpigmentation, which is huge.
[00:08:09] Speaker A: Which is really cool because we did some test spots on Heather because she had some little hypopigmentation spots on her arm and she said she's going crazy over it.
[00:08:18] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:08:18] Speaker A: She's talking about how much of a difference she can tell on her arms already.
[00:08:22] Speaker B: I think she just did another one this week too.
[00:08:23] Speaker A: Did she?
[00:08:24] Speaker B: Yeah, because it brings back the blood flow to those areas and so you can see the bordering slowly coming back in. And you all know Heather is like super tan olive skin.
We get scarred really easily. So if this works for her all the way, that's like a game changer for sure. We've been looking for a machine that does hypopigmentation forever for a minute because.
[00:08:48] Speaker A: Really the only thing that we've had available until now is like Latisse spot treating and those hypopigmentation spots. And that's a really expensive treatment. Yeah, definitely to do that with.
[00:09:00] Speaker B: Love Latisse though.
[00:09:02] Speaker A: Yeah, Latisse is awesome. We have some really cute gift with purchase with our Latisse. Right now we've got these cute little bags and these eye patches that go with it.
[00:09:12] Speaker B: The total eye?
[00:09:13] Speaker A: No, with the Latisse.
[00:09:15] Speaker B: Oh, they're Latisse eye patches.
[00:09:17] Speaker A: We have like little Latisse Allergan total eye or sorry, the instant bright eye patches.
[00:09:22] Speaker B: Okay. I love those instant bright. And then also I love the total eye from color science. If you're going somewhere, it is such a great like eye brightener as well.
[00:09:33] Speaker A: Yeah. And then yesterday we had a lunch and learn with Micah from btl who is our post sales support guy. He's awesome. We love. He's so funny, actually. But he came in and did a lunch and learn with you guys to talk about the joints and ligaments protocols that we have with the msculpt Neo and we got to do a couple of demos. Dr. Jody and I did our back and it was the most relaxing experience ever. And we were able to go directly over my spine and it just felt like it was like tickling my spine. It was great.
[00:10:02] Speaker B: I love that.
[00:10:03] Speaker A: And so just targets the soft tissue and it's going to help, you know, speed up recovery process. Anybody, anywhere that you have pain that doesn't have metal in the area, you can treat with. With the emsculpt NEO joints and ligaments.
[00:10:15] Speaker B: Protocol, I know you'll have tennis elbow.
[00:10:18] Speaker A: I know you'll have golf elbow plantar fasciitis. You can do ACL joint pain post surgery. As long as there's not metal screws in the area, we can pretty much treat anywhere on the body.
[00:10:31] Speaker B: Yeah. And it just, it's pretty much just the M sculpt and it's. They decrease the frequencies a little bit so it's not as painful. So if you've done emsculpt before and you know it's like really intense, it's a really intense workout. It's not going to be quite as uncomfortable. Yes.
[00:10:48] Speaker A: It actually feels very good.
[00:10:50] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:10:50] Speaker A: And it can be done with or without radio frequency as well too. So I just find that so fascinating. I love the health and wellness side of things that BTL is kind of moving in that direction. And we found out yesterday too the three indications for where Emsella. Do you remember what those were?
[00:11:08] Speaker B: Yeah. Sexual wellness, the gait.
[00:11:13] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:11:13] Speaker B: So it affects the way that you pretty much walk your swagger anyways.
[00:11:18] Speaker A: So Emcilla, we found out a new indication has it's going to help improve your gait, which is your function to be able to walk and be able to be sturdy. So a lot of times, you know, especially in older people, once they lose that ability to have their stability, it ends up causing a risk of falling. And so after that they're going to end up in a nursing home or some sort of full time care facility. So being able to have that full functionality, to be able to have that stability is huge.
[00:11:55] Speaker B: And he said there was like a slide that had like muscle mass equals like longevity of life.
[00:12:03] Speaker A: Right.
[00:12:03] Speaker B: Because obviously the longer or the more that you work out, the more muscle you have, the More that you can stand straight, walk.
[00:12:10] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:12:11] Speaker B: You know, not fall over, balance really nicely. It's really good strength building when you're older, after menopause, that little area of.
[00:12:21] Speaker A: Life especially too, like once they aren't able to hold their bladder anymore either, that ensures that they're gonna have to have long term, you know, senior care as well. And so if they're able to control their bladder by strengthening it with the Emsella, that's gonna be really helpful for them as well.
[00:12:40] Speaker B: Right.
[00:12:40] Speaker A: So. And I know it's been super helpful for me. I mean, I have three children, I was an athlete, and I don't ever get any UTIs anymore.
I can sneeze, jump, whatever, and I don't have any accidents. So it's not even just people with children. I mean, it's athletes. Because you're constantly, you know, pulling down on your bladder whenever you're. You're doing those activities.
[00:13:05] Speaker B: Yeah. When I'm like, I've started going to like Battle Republic and whenever I'm doing the workouts and doing jump jumping jacks, oh my God, you can feel it. Yeah, I can feel a slight twinge of my bladder wanting to escape. Yeah. But yeah, I really love it. And it's also for men too. It's not just for women. So normalize that men. It's a safe place.
[00:13:30] Speaker A: We, we're seeing a lot more men in. Into self care these days. And I love it.
[00:13:35] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:13:35] Speaker A: Because it's really important for everybody to look and feel their best.
And then lastly, and then we'll wrap it up for the day is Mother's Day is coming up very soon. So I, I think it's super important that everybody takes, you know, really takes their time to think about what it is that they want to give to the person that gives everything.
So sometimes it's easy to just grab a candle or something thoughtless. But giving the gift of self care is really meaningful. And giving them the ability to come in and kind of relax and pour back into themselves, I think is so important. And you know, Heather and I got to take a weekend in Arizona here recently and just kind of disconnect from the world and go on a hike and get some services and do some sound therapy classes. And it's just really nice to be able to just turn everything off for a little while and take care of yourself. And so if you can give that gift to your mom or to whoever your grandmother, whoever it is that takes care of you, it just really means a lot as a mom that we're constantly focused on taking care of everybody around us to be able to just stop for a minute and take care of ourselves.
[00:14:47] Speaker B: And it's super easy to get a gift card. You can come stop by, you can.
[00:14:51] Speaker A: Call us, and our gift cards never expire.
[00:14:53] Speaker B: Never expire, which is so nice. You have no idea how many times I went to go use, like, a gift card from, like, two Christmases ago. And it's just. There's just no hope there. Yeah, it's just a waste of money, really.
But, yeah, you can book a little double thing with your girlies. You both want to come in and get a facial? That'd be awesome. You can send your mom in, send your grandma in, send your sister in. It's a really fun time, and they'll always feel better when they leave. Yes.
[00:15:23] Speaker A: And again, we do have two locations now. We're in Ross Bridge in Hoover, and also in homewood. We have 12 estheticians across those two locations. We're open six days a week at both of those locations. Tuesday night is our late night here in Homewood. Thursday night is our late night in Ross Bridge. So we try to make sure that we have accessibility to everybody to meet everybody's schedules and their availability so that they can get in and take care of themselves.
[00:15:50] Speaker B: We're also open on Saturdays as well, until 2. You don't get that very much with the medical spa.
[00:15:57] Speaker A: Yeah. And we also have an injector here at our Homewood location six days a week as well. So you can call, text, come in, and we'll have one, sometimes two injectors here at the same time. So Dr. Jody's fantastic. She's here almost every single day. Dr. Eason's here several days out of the week. And then Dr. Eason and Dr. Irma are both at our Ross Bridge location. Dr. Eason and Dr. Jody also do telehealth medicine for semaglutide. So you can also call to schedule a telehealth visit with either of them if you're interested in semaglutide.
[00:16:37] Speaker B: So I did it. I lost a lot of weight. I feel really good. I've lost, like, 30. 30 pounds. That's awesome. It's awesome. It makes me feel a lot better.
[00:16:46] Speaker A: I just microdose mine once a month just to help with the inflammation in my body.
[00:16:50] Speaker B: That's probably what I'll do when I. Whenever I reach, like, my ultimate goal. You know, they say to get, like, a little bit below your goal before you stop so you have some room to gain some weight back.
[00:17:01] Speaker A: Yeah. And then we have some new injectables now as well, vitamin injections. We're going to be starting the IV injections at our Ross Bridge location. And maybe some mini bags that you can do for add ons while you're getting Neo or in phase or something like that here that Dr. Jody can administer. So stay tuned for all the new and exciting things that are always going on at smartscan.
[00:17:24] Speaker B: We love health and wellness.
[00:17:26] Speaker A: So everybody who tuned into today's episode, if you would text our office that you listen to this episode, we are going to offer a complimentary booster to either your next HydraFacial or Ultrasound Elite facial, which is a $50 value. So this is your little nugget. If you listen to the episode, then this is our gift to you. So thank you so much for listening and tune in every time that we have a podcast and we'll be giving away some sort of little goodie in each episode.
[00:18:00] Speaker B: I like that.
[00:18:01] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:18:01] Speaker B: Nice.
[00:18:03] Speaker A: So, well, thank you for joining me today, Alexis. And we're gonna run back across the street so these girls can take their lunch break hungry. Thank you so much for listening to today's episode of smartcast. And we'll see you next week.
