[00:00:21] Speaker A: Hey, this is Lacey with Smartcast. And I'm back again with Dr. Jody. And today we're going to have a little bit of a wellness update at our clinic here at Smart Skin Med Spa. We've got some really new exciting things, things coming to the spa for you guys. First up is our Emsculpt Neo has released a new update with the program so that we can now offer joints and ligament settings for arms and legs. So we'll talk about that first. Dr. Jody and I just sat through the full webinar with all of the updates on what all that can treat and who's the candidate for it and all of that good stuff. What were your initial thoughts on that? Dr. Jody I just thought it was.
[00:00:59] Speaker B: Really interesting how, you know, this is just ties along into so much of the other wellness things that we're. We're promoting and how it can treat, like, injuries, how it can treat muscle atrophy from aging, new bone density joints, all of that stuff. So I think this is going to be just really great in combination with things like in body scans, the new injections that were coming in with the vitamins, just in, like, combinations with Emsculpt Neoclassic as well, Right?
[00:01:36] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, certainly it's not going to replace a physical therapist, but it's definitely going to be a really great tool for us to be able to offer for our patients. If they have, like, golf elbow, tennis elbow, they're recovering from a surgery. As long as they don't have metal in the area that we're treating, this treatment protocol is going to really help promote the healing process for all of those things.
[00:01:59] Speaker B: It's going to be a really great adjunct, and I think it's going to help speed the healing process for a lot of people, get people back to baseline.
[00:02:06] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, there's so many people that live in pain, and this is just going to be another tool that they'll have access to that they can treat those things. I was just speaking with a patient last week that was telling me about an injury that she just had to her arm, and I was like, oh, my gosh. Dr. Jody and I just sat through a webinar on a new update that our device will be able to treat that for you, and she was like, oh, my gosh, sign me up. Like, I can't wait if that's so exciting that can come and add that into all the things that I'm already coming here for anyways. And she's already had Insculpt Neo treatment, so she's very familiar with the technology and the device and how it works. And she's been really happy with what she's seen in the other treatment modalities. And so for her to be able to actually access this technology in another way to help promote healing in her body and not just for lean muscle and the cosmetic benefits, but now really on the health side too.
[00:03:01] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:03:02] Speaker A: So I thought it was really cool too that you can really treat anywhere on the arms and legs with this, with the handpieces. I mean, you, you're not limited to a specific area. I mean, you can really just put the applicator on anywhere that that hurts on the arms or legs. And so it was just really neat to be able to see how much like there's no limitations with it.
[00:03:25] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:03:25] Speaker A: And even to treat your hips, which is really great because I know a lot of people have a lot of joint and hip pain. So I think that this will be really a great tool for them to be able to add this in with what they're doing.
[00:03:40] Speaker B: Yeah. And I think that even with.
We can kind of experiment with some of the off label uses too for the rest of the body.
[00:03:49] Speaker A: That's right. So, yeah. I just love, you know, obviously we rave about BTL and how incredible their technology is. And I know that they have a new device that they're launching called Exomine, which I'm really excited to kind of learn more about. They actually have been working on that technology since before their Emsculpt Classic. So they've been studying that and getting their indications for that for a really long time. So I just think that it's really admirable to their company that they get all of their indications and all of their FDA clearances and do all of their studies before they launch the device to allow us to be, you know, the ones that go in and find out the indications for them, they do all of that beforehand so that there's not any guesswork. By the time that gets to us, they've already paved the way for us, which is really great that they do that.
[00:04:40] Speaker B: Yeah. I think their commitment to research and development is phenomenal. I agree. I'm glad that we work with them.
[00:04:46] Speaker A: Me too. I want to go to Prague and see their headquarters. Well, I mean, it's just really interesting because their foundation is health and wellness and they have so many devices that are geared towards like not cosmetics. So I think that it's really cool that a lot of the things that they're finding for, for non cosmetic purposes do Typically end up with some sort of cosmetic indication as well. So which is a lot of our skincare partners as well. They started out in pharma and ended up moving into the aesthetics market because there were some really great aesthetic benefits to it.
So speaking of the other indications that we have with our new vitamin injections that we're going to be bringing on, let's talk a little bit about some of those and who's going to be the people that are going to be candidates for that, how they can combine those with our other therapies.
[00:05:40] Speaker B: Absolutely. So continuing down that tract of recovery and like physical therapy, functional medicine, I think that some of the vitamins that. Vitamin injections, that would be a good combination would be the amino blend to help build muscle. I think the serum tongue twister.
Yeah. Cimaralin.
Well, our cleaning lady said it a different way for me yesterday and so I had to like look up how to actually pronounce it.
[00:06:16] Speaker A: Well, she said glutathione.
[00:06:18] Speaker B: Well, but also the samralin.
[00:06:20] Speaker A: Oh, okay.
[00:06:21] Speaker B: Samorelin.
That's what it is. Okay. Cause that promotes muscle recovery. It's essentially growth hormone releasing hormone because, you know, growth hormones very regulated. This helps produce lean muscle mass and decrease body fat. It also increases bone density, gives you energy, improves mood, sleep.
[00:06:43] Speaker A: It's like an injectable Emsculpt Neo and.
[00:06:45] Speaker B: It improves skin elasticity.
[00:06:47] Speaker A: Nice.
[00:06:48] Speaker B: So, yeah.
[00:06:48] Speaker A: And so how often do they do that one?
[00:06:51] Speaker B: That's every day.
[00:06:52] Speaker A: Every day?
[00:06:53] Speaker B: Every day. That is a daily injection, but just similar.
[00:06:57] Speaker A: So where do they inject that one?
[00:06:59] Speaker B: That's subcutaneous.
[00:07:01] Speaker A: Okay. So that one they can do their selves.
That's really good. Because the IM injections, you have to be able to really have someone to do those for you, right?
[00:07:12] Speaker B: Yes. Yeah, yeah, that would be preferable, I would say.
And then we also have a new combination of the lipo B12 that we're getting in. You know, that's always going to boost metabolism and energy, the immune boost, which I think is great for like this time of year.
[00:07:33] Speaker A: Yeah. It would have been very nice to have had right now because we have like three staff out sick right now.
[00:07:39] Speaker B: Yeah. No, but that's the glutathione. It's vitamin C and it's zinc. And you know, I have been taking zinc religiously since my daughter entered daycare back in June. And I have gotten sick, I think, one time.
[00:07:52] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:07:52] Speaker B: So that's.
[00:07:53] Speaker A: We're gonna have to start pre dosing our staff with this next year around this time.
[00:07:57] Speaker B: That's Right.
[00:07:57] Speaker A: I feel like every year around this time of year they all kind of like down at the same time.
[00:08:03] Speaker B: The two other ones that I'm really excited about are the NAD plus, which you know, helps promote DNA repair, increases energy on a cellular level, you know, pretty like helping renew the mitochondria, decreases inflammation, improves cognitive function. It has got anti aging properties. I believe your mom started on it a couple weeks ago.
[00:08:26] Speaker A: She's obsessed. I have clients texting me, asking me, oh my gosh, when are you going to start doing nad? I need the nad. And I'm like, we have it, we got it coming in.
[00:08:35] Speaker B: Yeah. And I think and then glutathione is going to go hand in hand with that. That is, that helps reduce oxidative stress. It's kind of like a detox, it boosts immunity. And what's interesting is that like it lengthens telomeres. So telomeres are repeating sequences of DNA at the end of each gene and we lose them as we get older. And so by adding, by being able to lengthen these telomeres, it actually it slows down the aging process. And so I think that combined with the NAD is gonna be really great.
[00:09:09] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm really excited about these new vitamins coming back in. I know that we used to have several of these really cool vitamin injections and then they lost their status in the state of Alabama just because of some of the medical laws in Alabama changing. And now they've just recently re established their rights here in Alabama to be able to prescribe at med spas and doctor's offices and things like that. So we're really excited to be able to offer some of those old ones plus some new ones which I think that are going to be a really great fit for the majority of our patients because they are just seeking to have healthier lifestyles and they want to pre treat so that they're not having to treat illnesses, they're trying to prevent illnesses and prevent aging. They're not really necessarily trying to get rid of aging, they're trying to prevent it, which is great.
[00:10:02] Speaker B: Now I agree. And I think this, you know, the Samorelin combined with like semaglutide is going to help with that. The semaglutide related like muscle loss, it's going to help prevent that we can do in body scans every four weeks to kind of monitor their progress and measure how much muscle they're gaining.
And so I think that all of this is our just great combination and we'll have some really Great packages that we can put out.
[00:10:34] Speaker A: Yeah. And I know that we're going to be potentially offering some even IV infusions over at our Ross Bridge location too, coming up in the next couple of months. So if you're an IV infusion lover, definitely give us a call at our Ross Bridge location to get some more information about the different IV infusions that we'll be offering over there. We have a little bit more space to offer at that location specifically for things like IV infusions, where we use all of our rooms in Homewood currently. So we just don't really have the space to give up over here.
But I think there are a lot of people that really do enjoy getting IV infusions. And if that's something you love, definitely go over there and get your IV infusions on.
And then too, another exciting update. I don't know if I've even mentioned this yet or not. I think maybe I teased it a little bit when I first found out, but Emsculpt Em Face has launched a new applicator for the tear troughs and crow's feet. So that one's really exciting. We haven't had the webinar on that one yet. I think that it doesn't actually ship out until March maybe. But for under eyes and crow's feet, this is going to be something that you can do in combination with your toxin in and tear trough fillers or PRP injections or in place of if you don't get those things. So it's going to do skin tightening. It's going to help with that hollowness underneath the eyes. It's going to help with crow's feet, also help with collagen stimulation.
[00:12:09] Speaker B: So help with discoloration as well. Which I think is the biggest reason that it is patients request tear trough filler.
[00:12:16] Speaker A: Yeah. So I think that that's going to be a really popular one. Our submentum has gone over so well. Everybody really loves that. I think sometimes people forget that we have the clear tip applicator now for the little baby resurfacing with that one. That's an actually really cool treatment too because it's very little to no downtime and it kind of like micro resurfaces the skin just to give you a really pretty glow.
So ask your esthetician about the the clear on the exion because that's a really cool treatment. We have that over at our Ross Bridge location too, so. And then of course we have the nuva derm.
[00:12:52] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:12:53] Speaker A: So how are you Feeling about the.
[00:12:54] Speaker B: Nuva derm so far, I really like it. I really enjoy it. I was actually looking at. A memory popped up on my phone today from when I was on maternity leave. And I looked and it was just my side profile. And just in the nine months that we've been just doing, I've just been doing skincare. I've had a couple nuderm treatments. My melasma has cleared up so much.
[00:13:20] Speaker A: Good.
[00:13:20] Speaker B: So. And I think that's gonna be a great thing to offer patients. And the fact that it's safe in all skin tones is great and all.
[00:13:28] Speaker A: Year round because it's not attracted to the melanin in the skin, it's attracted to the water. So everybody's a candidate for it. It's safety do all the time.
Bailey is so funny. She just is very hard on pretty much anything and everything as to whether or not she believes whether it's gonna work or not. And even she's like, oh, my gosh, this really has made a big difference in my skin. Cause she had some.
Some old acne breakouts on her cheeks, and it's almost completely gotten rid of that in only one treatment. And then she has KP on her cheeks and it's gotten rid of that. And she has the prettiest glow right now. So she's really enjoyed her results from even just the one treatment. She's gonna do more.
We did some KP treatments on Gracie and she said she can tell a big difference. I know that we're gonna do my kp. I've got like some weird KP rash on my arms right now that we're gonna treat and see if we can knock that out. We are also running a promotion right now, now through Valentine's Day. Anybody that gets lip filler is going to get an nuva glow pass over their lips, too.
[00:14:31] Speaker B: And I think that'll be great just because that's going to help that pink come out.
Whereas, you know, sometimes if you are getting filler on a regular basis, your lips kind of take that pallor. So this is going to help restore that natural.
[00:14:47] Speaker A: That pigment give a little extra plump. So, yeah, I think it's going to be really good for that as well as, like you were saying, the dark circles under the eyes, I think it'll be really good for that. And especially to all of our patients that have been wanting to treat sun damage and hyperpigmentation on their chest, back, arms, those larger areas that sometimes can get expensive to try to treat with chemical pills and IPL and Things like that. Our handpiece for the body on this thing is the size of a coke can. So super fast, easy body treatments.
[00:15:22] Speaker B: Comfortable treatments.
[00:15:23] Speaker A: Comfortable treatments. We did some stretch marks on some of our client or some of our staff's bellies. And salt, you can see immediate results from that, which is really cool.
[00:15:34] Speaker B: I did my, my C section scar.
[00:15:36] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:15:37] Speaker B: And that's improved a lot.
[00:15:38] Speaker A: My mom just had her second treatment with it and she had very little to no downtime. And she did a stronger treatment too, so she was really excited about it. And it also has hair treatment settings as well, which is really cool for those who are struggling with thinning hair or having, you know, supposed Covid hair loss or post semi glutide. Semi glutide hair loss. You just had a baby. Whatever it is that you need to kind of just jump start your hair growth, this will treat that as well. Lots of indications. Really cool. Lots of different treatment protocol settings. From super light with no downtime To super aggressive CO2 resurfacing Erbium type treatment results.
[00:16:18] Speaker B: It's a great add on to all of the other treatments we have.
[00:16:21] Speaker A: Oh, for sure.
[00:16:22] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:16:23] Speaker A: Yeah, definitely. Speaking of never expire, I told mom that I had a client tell me yesterday at the end of the day that she was so grateful that our packages and our membership services never expire. She was like, I believe that you guys may be the only people left in Birmingham that don't expire your packages. And I was like, you're probably right. And we're probably the only ones now that don't charge credit card fees still.
Because I feel like everywhere I go, even for a copay at a doctor's office, they're charging me a 3% credit card fee, regardless of whether it's a debit card or credit card. And I just think that's so sad because, you know, it used to always be the cost of doing business and now everybody's charging you for it.
[00:17:31] Speaker B: Yeah. And especially with just the economy the way it is. I mean, even Waffle House is charging a surcharge for each egg ordered. For each what egg? Oh, 50 cents per egg.
[00:17:41] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:17:42] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:17:42] Speaker A: Interesting.
Well, not everybody's Chick Fil A where they deduct. Give you credit for. If you take things off your order, Chick Fil A will give you credit for it. I just think that you just treat people the way that you would want to be treated, and it all comes back in the end.
[00:18:01] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:18:02] Speaker A: So we try to. We try to do that. And then also unrelated to smart skin, but Sage, we had a client come in yesterday that she said, I just want to let you know that I've been going to the Frothy Monkey, and your brother, he is so good. He is such a great manager. And he looks over. He's. He's doing everything. He's managing. He's checking on all the tables. He's got everything covered. She was like, I just want to let you know how awesome he is. And I was like, thank you so much. I was like, he is little precious. Angel said, he is very good.
So. So.
But, I mean, it just goes back to customer service and doing the right thing and treating people well and treating people the way you want to be treated. And while we can't always do and give away everything that everybody asks for, we always try everything that we can to make everybody happy and feel heard and make them feel like we're doing everything we can to make sure that they have a great experience.
So. And I am super grateful for our clients for being so understanding during this time while half of our staff is out sick, too.
So we're doing our best to try to make sure that we can accommodate everybody's appointments and make sure that they're able to get in. But I guess it's lucky for us that our services don't ever expire, so they don't have to worry about getting them crammed in before they expire. So that's always. That helps me when I have to, like, push appointments out a little further than I would like to for people. But.
But anyways, we have a lot of really cool things going on here at the spa. And as always, continued education is on the forefront of making sure that we're always up to date on all of the best technology and everything that there is to offer and making sure that we're doing our recertifications and being up to date on everything that's new and improved and exciting in the industry.
Is there anything else that you want to add?
[00:19:59] Speaker B: I don't think so. I think we covered everything.
[00:20:01] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:20:03] Speaker B: To get a head on my recertification for advanced cardiac life support.
[00:20:08] Speaker A: Yeah. Because last year we did our cpr, our CPR certification. So is that about to be up for another.
[00:20:17] Speaker B: Another year?
[00:20:18] Speaker A: Oh, we get two years. Okay, cool. And so. And then, of course, don't forget, Dr. Jody is here full time now, every day. We still have our $10 unit Daxi promo going on now through the 15th. So whether you're a member or non member, it's $10 a unit for Daxi right now.

So that's one thing that I'm really proud that we do have so many amazing technologies here at Smart Skin, so that we can give you the best possible option for your goals and what you're looking to achieve. So we don't have to just say, well, this will. This will do okay, or you're, you know, this will be fine. We can say with confidence this is what you're looking to achieve, and this is the treatment that we have to offer it. And if we don't, then we send them to our friends down the street at the plastic surgeon's office so that if. If it's surgery, we can't help you. But anything else, we. We pretty much can help you with anything else. So that makes me really proud of what all we've accomplished and what we've been able to bring to the spa to offer to our patients. So.
