[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign. [00:00:20] Speaker B: Hey, this is Lacey with Smartcast, and I'm here today with Dr. Jody, who you all know and love. However, we're going to discuss today about how she is now at Smart Skin full time as of this week. So now Dr. Jody will be here every single day for all of your injectable needs, your GLP1s, your hormone replacement therapy. We do still have Dr. Eason coming in a couple of days a week here as well, but Dr. Jody will be here full time. So we're so excited to have you with us every single day. And so tell me a little bit about some of the things that you are going to be offering and just educate the listeners about some of those things, the semaglutide and all of that. And then we'll talk too about some of our really exciting clinical trainings that we've got coming up this week and next week. [00:01:09] Speaker A: Yeah, well, I'm very excited to be on full time now, so that just kind of helps. Like, I do much better with a routine and a schedule, so that's a good change for me. A couple of things that I'm excited about for the new year is really kind of launching into, like, hormone replacement and really trying to help people, like, really optimize their health. And that's by balancing their hormones. And so I really want to kind of push that in the new year and kind of to go with that, we have the semaglutide, which is just a wonderful medication that continues to have all these amazing benefits. Yeah. [00:01:55] Speaker B: And more and more, it seems like. [00:01:56] Speaker A: Each day they're finding new, more studies. [00:01:59] Speaker B: Positive side effects of this medication. [00:02:01] Speaker A: Absolutely. And so I think, you know, with being able to help people lose weight and just kind of like all the complications that come with obesity and just provide more energy and then by doing hormone replacement in combination with that, I think will be a real game changer. [00:02:22] Speaker B: Yeah. So tell me a little bit about, like, what would the patient expect if they were maybe not feeling their best? They're not really sure what's going on, but they know something's not right. First step is they would call and schedule a complimentary consultation with you. We would potentially do some lab work. [00:02:40] Speaker A: Yes. [00:02:41] Speaker B: And then what happens next? [00:02:42] Speaker A: So, you know, I have paperwork for them to fill out, like just a questionnaire of their symptoms just to kind of figure which will kind of help drive what labs we draw. We draw their labs. We get those back relatively quickly. We also have the new inbody device so we can, you know, look at their body composition, their Percentage of body fat, total body water, all of that stuff, smooth muscle mass. So and that's something that we can track every four weeks to kind of see how they're progressing with, you know, optimizing hormones and losing weight and all of that. [00:03:21] Speaker B: Yeah, and the inbody too is really a great tool to be able to track their progress and it helps to keep them accountable. It gets them excited and shows them a lot of really fine tuned details that maybe they wouldn't have known otherwise. So I think that that's a really great resource that we've been able to bring into Smart Skin. We utilize that for the semaglutide patients, the hormone replacement replacement therapy patients, and also with our Emsculpt NEO patients now as well. And incorporating the emsculpt NEO in with the hormone and semiglutide and all of that too. Especially with semaglutide, you know, a lot of people are losing weight relatively quickly and especially if they're, you know, maintaining a healthy diet and exercise and all of those things, they're still going to experience some laxity and muscle loss. And so incorporating that in and I. [00:04:09] Speaker A: Think the inbody will be great to measure that because you know, with semaglutide it doesn't differentiate between like fat or muscle. [00:04:17] Speaker B: Right. [00:04:17] Speaker A: So especially if people aren't getting enough protein in their diets that they can easily lose muscle. And you know, with the laxity too, we. [00:04:31] Speaker B: We have lots of options for the laxity as well. So like the Scarlet microneedling with radio frequency. You and I were discussing that earlier this week about some of our patients that have lost weight relatively quickly from Semi Glue Tide and just having the loose skin and then they just feel like, well, now I've got this. So using the Scarlet's really a great option for that. Emsculpt NEO uses radio frequency and building that new muscle mass to help lift everything back up and tighten the skin as well. So, you know, once you kind of address one hurdle, then we're able to kind of pick up the pieces and help, you know, continue that journey and help to maintain and get the best results that they're looking for. And then so for the GLP1, walk me through patient experience with that. [00:05:17] Speaker A: So patient experience, we can do either in person or virtual consults. You know, I kind of ask some basic history, you know, medical history, any contraindications, what you've tried in the past, what has worked for you in the past, what hasn't worked for you in the past, and kind of decide Whether or not that this would be a good option for you, because the way that it works essentially is by creating a calorie deficit. And so, like, there are some patients that, you know, I've, I've met with who, you know, really just aren't eating enough. And that's. And so it has slowed their metabolism. And so those would not be good candidates for the semaglutide. Whereas someone who is just kind of a mindless snacker, like, that's, that's going to be more of an ideal candidate. [00:06:03] Speaker B: Yeah. And like, even for me, for example, it's not that I needed to lose a bunch of weight, but I had a lot of inflammation in my body. And so for me, kind of just doing a. Maintenance with the semaglutide has really kept that inflammation at bay and helped me feeling a lot more energetic and feeling a lot better and not having that fog that I had. I felt like I was just kind of walking around in this foggy days and I was like, is it my age? Is it my stress? Is it my lack of sleep? Is it. Am I sick? Like, what's going on? It's just inflammation. [00:06:36] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:06:37] Speaker B: So it's been night and day for me, for sure. [00:06:39] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. That's a wonderful benefit. [00:06:43] Speaker B: And then the. We do a lot of bbls with Radiesse Hyper Dilute. We also do a lot of Derma PRP and Derma prp, even for liquid bbls as well. So tell me a little bit about that because that goes really well in combination with the semaglutide and hormones and Emsculpt Neo and all of that as well. [00:07:02] Speaker A: Sure. So with, you know, the laxity that comes from rapid weight loss, you lose volume. And to replace that volume or replenish it, some of the things that we can use, like you said, the Derma PRP or biostimulatory filler, like a Radiesse Hyper dilute helps to rebuild like two types of collagen, collagen 1 and collagen 3, and also elastin. So it really improves the texture of the skin, the appearance, the health of the skin, because it can cause neovascularization, which is, you know, new blood vessel formation, which kind of helps brighten that tissue as well. [00:07:40] Speaker B: Yeah, I love the Derma prp. I'm literally obsessed with it, especially for tear troughs, for dark circles underneath the eyes. Doing one treatment and then following up about 45 days later was kind of the money spot for me. I've never been able to treat my under Eye dark circles very well. In the past, I've done even like a light belotera tear trough, filler eye creams, all kinds of things. And I've never really been able to get those dark circles to be a little bit more brightened. And the derma PRP really has made such a difference because of that new blood flow in the area. [00:08:18] Speaker A: Absolutely. I agree 100%. Especially, like with my own treatment, my under eyes have always been my problem spot of my face. And you know, I'm confident now to walk around without makeup on. [00:08:30] Speaker B: Right. [00:08:31] Speaker A: So. [00:08:31] Speaker B: So, yeah, it's been about 45 days. It's time to do your second one. And then I haven't done a ha filler in my lips in years just because I've been doing the derma and it just gives me that just enough plumpness to my lips and the pretty pink color. [00:08:48] Speaker A: I love that it keeps the pinkness in your lips because you get some women who have their lips overfilled and they just have that kind of pillow paler look to them. [00:09:00] Speaker B: Yeah, like blanched almost. So I do. I love the natural feel that you get with derma prp. I love that the swelling goes down so quickly, and I love that it feels like a treatment. It doesn't feel necessarily like you're getting filler in your face. It feels like you're doing a. A treatment for longevity and for brightness and collagen stimulation and just helping with the blood flow. And I even had like a little bit of collagen 3 buildup in my cheeks from Bellafil from years ago. And doing the derma PRP has broken that up and allowed for blood flow to come to that area and just feel so much better now. [00:09:41] Speaker A: That's great. [00:09:41] Speaker B: It's like restoring the health of my skin. [00:09:44] Speaker A: Breaking up that scar tissue. [00:09:45] Speaker B: I know, it's so good. And then we did a little bit of it in my booty and it really made a big difference in stretch marks. So we did a little bit of Radiesse Hyper dilute. And then several months later, we did some derma PRP to help just the overall skin quality because I got some stretch marks on my booty from having my first child, precious little Bailey Ann. But I really can tell a big difference in the lift in my booty and just the smoothness of it. So I'm excited about it next week. It's time to do my next one. I got my kit ready to go. Me and you both, we're both gonna be on the schedule next week. So like you said, you love the routine and you're excited about being here full time and knowing what your schedule's gonna be like. How long has it been since you had, like a regular set schedule, like to one place that you had to go to? [00:10:47] Speaker A: Four years. [00:10:49] Speaker B: Well, that's not that long. Yeah, that's not too long. [00:10:52] Speaker A: But I mean, that's a lot of hustle for four years. [00:10:55] Speaker B: It is. Because you've been with us for like a year and a half now. A little over a year. [00:11:00] Speaker A: Over a year and a half. [00:11:01] Speaker B: Yeah. It feels like I just met you. [00:11:04] Speaker A: I know. [00:11:04] Speaker B: It's flown by. [00:11:06] Speaker A: So in that time, I, you know, got pregnant, had a baby. I know. Lost on my baby weight. [00:11:12] Speaker B: You really did. You've withered away. [00:11:14] Speaker A: I need a BBL. [00:11:16] Speaker B: Yeah, we all need. We all need. Our BBLs are going to line up and. [00:11:19] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:11:19] Speaker B: The good news is, is that with three of the physicians here, you guys can treat each other. [00:11:23] Speaker A: That's right. [00:11:24] Speaker B: And I love too, that, like, for our estheticians, we have 12 estheticians here at Smart Skin. And one of the things that they love is being able to collaborate together and learn from each other. And they never second guess themselves because they can bounce ideas off of each other. And I'm so glad that now you. [00:11:40] Speaker A: Guys have that as well, being able to do that with Dr. Eason and Dr. Irma. [00:11:45] Speaker B: Yeah. And so I think that you guys are all so incredibly talented. You guys spend so much time doing continued education and learning and constantly learning new techniques and learning from each other and learning from the industry. And so just the fact that this is what you guys do full time says so much about your skill set and what you do and how many patients that you've got your hands on. And it's not just something that you dabble in from time to time. And I think that you all kind of have your strong suits and the things that you're passionate about, but I think that that's really great because then you can go to each other with those specific specialties and things that you're really passionate about, and that way you can learn a little bit more about those specific things. [00:12:30] Speaker A: Absolutely. And I'm so grateful that you and Carmen are so pro education and really push regular trainings as trying to get as much education as we can. Because, you know, as physicians, we are lifelong learners. [00:12:47] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, it's. You're never not learning. I mean, there's always going to be new techniques, new education, new things that come about, and it doesn't matter how long You've been doing a treatment, there's always going to be a new or better way to do it. So it's not that you were doing it wrong before, it's just that they've learned an even better way to do it now. And so I think that, you know, you. You don't ever want to go to anybody that's not continuously learning and growing and evolving 100%. So I think that that's really great that y'all do that, and I think it's so cute. And sometimes if you guys don't have a patient, I can see y'all in there on your computers, like watching a webinar or learning a new technique or watching, you know, something. So you guys are really good about utilizing your time wisely and always continue to. To move forward and grow. It's awesome. You don't have to worry about you guys being stale. [00:13:37] Speaker A: Yeah, for sure. [00:13:39] Speaker B: So speaking of continued education, this week and next week is jam packed full of clinical training, recertifications, continued education. We bought some new equipment this past year, and this is the first time in the history of smartskin that a new device is sat stagnant on a wall because we didn't have any time to. To set aside to train on it because of the holidays, and our schedule was so packed out. And so now we finally have this week, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Thursday, all day long, our entire team is going to be doing a training on our new aqua firm from Amp, as well as a recertification for the Scarlet, which is our microneedling with radio frequency. And then on Friday, half of our team is going to be doing a clinical training on our new NuvaDerm resurfacing laser that we are so pumped about, so excited about this face and body. It is helium technology, so it's attracted to water and not melanin in the skin. So you're gonna get those incredible results without the downtime. So there is gonna be some downtime, but it's not gonna be like your traditional downtime with a resurfacing laser. And it's gonna be super, super safe, which is number one priority for us. [00:14:57] Speaker A: And I just love the versatility of it. You can use it for fine lines and wrinkles, for skin tightening, for pigmentation, and it's safe on all skin types. [00:15:07] Speaker B: And safe all year long. And you can do hair regeneration with. [00:15:10] Speaker A: It, too, which is cool. [00:15:12] Speaker B: And sage is like, great. So just like, great. Not me again, having to go be a guinea guy. And then on Saturday, the other half of our team is going to be doing our NuvoDerm clinical training and certification. And these devices are going to be some that our facility is actually going to be a clinical training site for the whole Southeast. So we are going to be the best of the best. We already won the partner of the year award for Scarlet and Collagen Pen last year and partner of the year overall. And so I just know that we're going to be continuing on that trend with our aqua firm and the nuviderm. So really excited about that. And then hopefully the weather holds out on us, because right now we're under winter weather advisory. And I'm like, y'all bring your sleeping bags, because we're gonna be doing some Nooba Durant. [00:16:05] Speaker A: I'm from the Midwest. I can handle the snow. [00:16:07] Speaker B: Yeah. And then on Monday and Tuesday, we're gonna be doing a clinical training, recertification, and new certification on some new equipment that we bought from our partners at Sinclair. They are the company that we have our IPL with, so we have our V20 platform with them with radio frequency technology for skin tightening for the face. We specifically address also eyes and mouth as one of our membership options. And then we have the IPL from them, which is really cool because it is super, super safe. It uses contact cooling and controlled pulse configuration. So we can get really customizable with the treatments. And it's really more comfortable than any other IPL on the market while also being super effective. So it's not like a traditional ipl. It's really more in line with like a BBL as far as the results that you get and then the safety aspect of it as well. And we also have five customizable filters with that too, so we can really target specifically what we're wanting to address. And then with them, we're also going to be doing our new training on the preme, which is the platform that we use at our Ross Bridge location for ultrasound, radio frequency, our dermawave, the bore effect, the. The hydrodermabrasion and all of that. And then we have a new device from them as well called the dermafuse. And it is basically an elevated dermal labelpheresis. So it's no needle mesotherapy. And it's got customizable serums that you can use that are in little ampoules. And so we can target specific concerns, whether it's dryness, sun damage and hyperpigmentation, acne, body treatments. For lipo, we can. It's got like a little lipo Jet in it where it helps to break down the fat. So it's really great to partner and pair that with body treatments for skin tightening on all of that. And then they are getting ready to release a new sleeve where we can even drive in PRP as well as we can drive in exosomes and derive for hair loss as well. So not only will we have our aqua firm platform to address hair loss, but now we can drive in even deeper with the Derma fuse. So that is really exciting. And we're going to be splitting our staff Monday and Tuesday and doing all of those trainings and recertifications. And now keep in mind, like I said, the IPL that we have with Sinclair we've had for over 11 years. We've been working with them, but we still do a recertification and retraining with them almost every year because technology is always changing. We always want to make sure we're up to date and we always want to make sure that our staff are fully, fully aware and comfortable and the most advanced knowledge that they can have on the devices that we are operating every single day on our patients. So we're gonna have a lot of fun and they're gonna be, their brains are gonna be fried after five days of training right after Christmas. So I'm excited about that. And then we've got some new marketing trainings coming up with AMP as well as some social media days. And then we're going to be having our social media marketing days coming up with our other marketing partners that do our website too to go over our Ross Bridge location. We also are going to be on the COVID of the Ross Bridge magazine next month for a new spot over there. So if you guys haven't checked out our Ross Bridge spot, definitely go and check it out. It's really pretty. It looks just like this one, but it's like a little mini version of it, so it's really cute. What other things are you excited about participating in this year? Anything that's on your agenda that you're wanting to learn more about or excited to participate in. [00:20:01] Speaker A: I just really think that, you know, like I've mentioned to you before that the future of aesthetics is going to be regenerative medicine and just all of the new devices that are coming out with like the resurfacing with Anuvaderm and pairing that with Derma PRP with Hyper Dilute Radiesse, stuff like that and all of the medical grade skincare that we have as well. [00:20:23] Speaker B: Yeah, and skincare really does Make a big difference. A lot of people just don't really think much of it. [00:20:31] Speaker A: The way I always describe it to patients is I say, well, when you're young and you get sick, all you really need is a band aid and a lollipop. But when you get old and you get sick, you need actual medicine. And the same is true for your skin. [00:20:46] Speaker B: So, yeah, I kind of always think of your skincare as your diet and then your services as your, your workout. [00:20:52] Speaker A: I mean, the integumentary system is our, you know, the skin is our largest organ. And like, why are you going to treat it with, you know, drugstore products if you, if you know you have it your whole life and you don't get another one? [00:21:05] Speaker B: Right? Well, I mean, and using great skincare at home will make a really big difference. And especially like if you aren't able to come in as frequently to do facial services or whatever. Medical grade skincare makes a huge difference in your overall skin quality. And we do a facial analysis skin scanner here at Smart Skin too. So if you're getting ready to do anything, treatments or start on a new skincare regimen, if you're doing a scarlet series, a chemical peel series, please make sure that you ask your esthetician or the front desk to schedule you for a facial analysis. So that way you can see the progress that you're making. Because it's really fun. We see each other, we see ourselves every single day. And so it's easy to forget what you look like until you go back and you see those actual target, you know, markings of the skin and you can see your pore size and your fine lines and wrinkles and the bacteria on your skin, you can see all of those things. And so to be able to go back and compare apples to apples and see the progress that you made really is a much bigger difference than we even realize sometimes. [00:22:09] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, I know personally with my journey with Melasma, looking at some of my before and after pictures, I'm pretty amazed. And all of that is just from medical grade skincare, which also enhances any results that you do for many treatments, any injectables. You know, your, your Botox results are going to be only as good as your skin care. [00:22:32] Speaker B: Plus you have the luxury of every time that we get a new product sample to try for hyperpigmentation, I'm like, here, try this. Dr. Jody, I put you through the ring report you and poor Sage. We make y'all be the guinea people for everything. [00:22:45] Speaker A: That's fine. [00:22:46] Speaker B: The new Lasers that we're thinking about getting. Let's treat Dr. Jody. You swell up. Oh my God, a marshmallow. We didn't get that laser. [00:22:56] Speaker A: We'll see what happens with the nuoderm. [00:22:58] Speaker B: Well, Mary Margaret and I have already had a treatment of the Nuva derm, so I already know it's incredible and very super customizable like you said. And you can like actually create the shape that you like. If you want to target like a tiny weird looking shape on your chest for discoloration, you can make it to precisely cover that, which is really cool. And it's got a huge Coke can size body applicator that we can treat larger surface areas on the body too. So I'm really excited about that and the possibilities of what else we can layer that with like layering it with micro needling treatments or anything like that. And layering it too with like full face regeneration with, you know, fillers and things like that. I think that getting that overall end result, it's going to just create a much better outcome. [00:23:49] Speaker A: Absolutely, absolutely. [00:23:50] Speaker B: So, well, I will let you go and have lunch now. But thank you so much for chatting with me and going over all the fun things that we're going to be up to this year. And we'll definitely keep you guys up to date on any new things that we have going on. I know that we typically have a lot of really fun trainings and manufacturer sponsored events and things like that that we like to go to. So last year we went to the AMP Conference for the Derma PRP and some of the other new technologies that they had. And that was a really fun weekend. I'm sure we'll have some really cool things like that come available to us this year too. [00:24:30] Speaker A: Sounds great. [00:24:31] Speaker B: Well, thank you for joining us on today's episode of smartcast and we'll see you next week.
