[00:00:20] Speaker A: Hey, this is Lacey with smartcast, and I have with me today our old neighbor, but still kind of a neighbor here in Homewood, Thomas Andrew. And you have the art gallery and the chocolates studio. Do you still have chocolate? [00:00:34] Speaker B: No. You know, we stopped the chocolate. Love chocolate. And, of course, dark chocolate's good for you. But the problem with selling chocolate in Alabama is the heat. [00:00:42] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:00:42] Speaker B: And so as much as I love chocolate and I grew up on chocolate, like we all did, I just, you know, decided, oh, it's tough to sell in the Alabama on, you know, Alabama summers. So now, yeah, I'm just focusing on my art. I've been an artist for 20 years. [00:00:56] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:00:57] Speaker B: That's my. That's my passion. [00:00:58] Speaker A: Yeah. So we actually have some custom art from you here in the training center. You did a cute little video of you creating it and installing it. And, of course, we're gonna have you do some custom artwork on our new store that we're in Hoover. So we definitely are a fan of your artwork. And we were a fan of your chocolate. Cause we had it. I remember y'all ordered regular open houses just for a snack. We wouldn't need the little sweet treat. And then we also did some little individually packaged for some of our plates one time, too. [00:01:29] Speaker B: So your people. That's right. That's right. [00:01:32] Speaker A: So we've got lots of history with the art and the chocolates. [00:01:36] Speaker B: Yep. [00:01:36] Speaker A: So how's the new location going for you? [00:01:38] Speaker B: New locations? Good. So, yeah, I moved a couple blocks from you guys. Yeah. Love the old location because it was larger, but the new locations on a little busier street. Busier street. [00:01:48] Speaker A: Foot traffic. [00:01:48] Speaker B: Yeah. And, you know, for what I do, I really kind of need that. And so now I love it. It's smaller, though. It is a good bit smaller. But, you know, you make two, and. But I like the location. [00:02:00] Speaker A: Yeah. You're still in a really great location down there, especially for, like, there. It's a lot more high volume. [00:02:06] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:02:06] Speaker A: Foot traffic down there. [00:02:07] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. I mean, and people. Yeah. Listening. They should come to homewood because it's really a neat area. I mean, we live in it. We take. But I have so many. We have so many people that come in that are from other places. They're staying at the valley hotel or somewhere, and they just are impressed with the village. Or I call it the village. But, you know, our shops and restaurants and spas and, you know, everything that we have here. [00:02:32] Speaker A: Yeah. There's a lot of really good restaurants and good clothing stores and lots of good. Just, like, shopping experience overall. And so people really do like to come here because it is a destination. So if they're coming, you know, in to get a facial, we always send them down. Y'all's way to go do some shopping. And Debbie's store beard and design is down there. [00:02:52] Speaker B: Love that. [00:02:53] Speaker A: So we. We send them down after their facial so that they can just really enjoy the experience of the day and get as much out of it as they can. [00:03:01] Speaker B: Absolutely. [00:03:02] Speaker A: So yesterday, you came in and got your. Was this your first facial? [00:03:08] Speaker B: My first facial in probably 20 years. [00:03:10] Speaker A: Really? [00:03:11] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:03:12] Speaker A: What type of facial did you get for your first facial? [00:03:14] Speaker B: I have no idea. 20 years? I can't. [00:03:17] Speaker A: Was it, like, a standard european style facial with, like, the. Where they wash your face and do the different. [00:03:23] Speaker B: Nothing like what y'all provide. I mean, you know, you and I have known each other now for four or five years, and I've never really. I've been in your facility, but I've never done any kind of treatment. But the equipment y'all have and just the staff and everything, I mean, it's. It's impressive, man. [00:03:42] Speaker A: Thank you. [00:03:43] Speaker B: Yeah, very impressive. [00:03:44] Speaker A: So, yeah, so I would say over the past couple of years, especially since we brought in the BTL equipment for muscle stimulation, we've really been increasing our male client base. And I love that because, to be honest, you guys are the easiest clients to. [00:03:58] Speaker B: Are we? Are guys easier? [00:04:00] Speaker A: Yeah. Because you're super. [00:04:01] Speaker B: Like, we're just happy to be there. [00:04:02] Speaker A: We're just happy to be there. You do what we tell you to do. You're very loyal. You're very. Just, like, once we educate you on what it is that you need, you're just like, okay, great. So you just make very logical decisions about what you want to have done. So. [00:04:19] Speaker B: But that's, you know, that's it. You just hit on it. It's the education thing. I think young women, y'all are raised thinking about this kind of stuff, reading about it, the magazines. Guys are. You know, we just are. And then when we get my age, I'm 56 years old, you know, then we go, oh, shoot. You know, my skin's starting to not look so great. And so we're kind of late to the game. So I do feel like, yeah, if you can educate people early men, and I think this younger generation. [00:04:50] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:04:51] Speaker B: Is more in tune with that kind of stuff than my generation. [00:04:55] Speaker A: My son is eleven, and he's already had two or three facials, and he loves it. [00:05:00] Speaker B: Does he love it? [00:05:00] Speaker A: He does love it. [00:05:01] Speaker B: Which not the love. [00:05:02] Speaker A: I mean, he'll go get a pedicure and love it, too. [00:05:05] Speaker B: Oh, me too. [00:05:05] Speaker A: So he likes the finer things in life. [00:05:08] Speaker B: Nothing wrong with that. [00:05:09] Speaker A: So he enjoys getting. He got an elite facial last time, so you'll have to get that one sometime, too. It's got the steam and ultrasound and oxygen jet treatment and a custom mask. So it's like, all of the great benefits of the facial service. That's more medical grade, but it still feels really nice and frou frou as well. [00:05:28] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:05:28] Speaker A: Yeah. That's our signature facial that we built our business on. So I think you got the Hydra facial yesterday. Is that right? [00:05:35] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah, that was it. And, of course, I did a video, and you can see that on social media. On the social media. And it was just a lot of fun. But with the young lady that did my facial, and I can't remember. [00:05:48] Speaker A: Taylor? [00:05:49] Speaker B: Taylor, yes. She was excellent. [00:05:51] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:05:51] Speaker B: I mean, she was very professional, but also easy. Like, you know, I didn't feel intimidated. I didn't feel like she answered all my questions, and she was just really relaxed and that, you know, when you walk into something like this, I mean, you know you're there to have a good experience, but you never know who you're gonna be talking to or who you're gonna have to deal with. And now she did a great job, and I would definitely go back and have another one with her. [00:06:18] Speaker A: She's good. She's fantastic. I love Taylor. She's very thorough. She's really great at explaining all the steps and what she's doing and why. And what's the benefit of it? And recommendations for skincare products, for treating your skin in between your visits with us. So she's excellent. [00:06:36] Speaker B: Well, let's talk about that for a second, because. Yeah, so I got it. I think my skin looks better. Feels better. Betsy, my girlfriend last night, she's like, oh, my gosh, your face is glowing. And I was like, really? And she's like, yeah. And because this. You're gonna find this whatever, funny, or maybe not. I don't know. But I don't have hair. You know, I shave my head. And when you don't have hair, I don't look in the mirror very often. Like, when I had hair, you know, you look in the mirror, you fix your hair, but I wake up, and I literally lacy. I roll out of bed, I put on my clothes, and the first time I probably look in the mirror is in my car in the rearview mirror. [00:07:14] Speaker A: That's probably true of you, too, right? [00:07:17] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:07:17] Speaker A: I mean, just like, I throw a hat on. [00:07:19] Speaker B: It is, yeah. And when you don't have hair, like, in my case, you know, I just throw a hat on and I'm out the door and I don't think anything of it. But, you know, when I do sit and finally look at my skin, you know, I'm, I'm starting to see spots and, you know, aging and skin or sun, I guess. You know, one thing she said yesterday is we were talking about sun damage and how that is, like the number one, like, worst thing, I guess, for skin care. And as I told you before we started, by the grace of God, my mother was half lebanese. So I have a little bit of that darker pigment in my skin, which I think helps. [00:07:58] Speaker A: It does. [00:07:59] Speaker B: Whereas my girlfriend is very fair skin, blue eyes, blonde hair, and she burns, you know, like crazy. So when we go to the beach, she has to wear sunblock, and I do, too, but she has to make sure she reapplies a lot. Yeah. So, so I guess, yeah. The thing is, what do I do to maintain? Because I do work around being an artist. I work around a lot of paints and oils and, you know, things that are not good for my skin. And yes, I try to wear gloves if I'm, we're working with oil, but I know that's got to be taking its toll on my. [00:08:33] Speaker A: It is. And I have a friend who works in pressure washing, so he's around bleach a lot. And so what I did is I had him get on the color science barrier pro system. So there's a barrier pro cleanser and a barrier pro moisturizer. And it kind of just creates a little buffer between your skin and those harsh chemicals. And it's made a huge difference in his overall skin quality. Redness, because he gets rosacea and redness really easily. And the bleach just takes a toll on it. So I was noticing he yesterday, he came and picked my car up and washed it in our Monday, rather. [00:09:05] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:09:05] Speaker A: And I was like, oh, my gosh, the redness has, like, gone down significantly, and it's because he's been using the barrier pro. [00:09:11] Speaker B: Gotcha. [00:09:11] Speaker A: So that's a really good one for you, too, especially being around chemicals and paint fumes and all of that. It's a moisturizer, but it's also going to protect your skin and be that barrier between your skin and the environment. [00:09:23] Speaker B: Gotcha. [00:09:23] Speaker A: So that was really good. And then also the color science no show SPF mineral sunscreen. It's SPF 50, but so do you. [00:09:30] Speaker B: Wear that every day? [00:09:31] Speaker A: Yes. [00:09:32] Speaker B: Okay. I've heard that. I've heard some people wear sunscreen every day. [00:09:35] Speaker A: Every day. And not only is it gonna protect your skin from the UVA and UVB rays, but it's gonna protect your skin from blue light as well. So whenever you're inside under the fluorescent lights and all of that, that's actually causing even more skin damage to your skin than even UVA and UVB does because it goes deeper into the skin, so it's not creating that burn, but it is that deep, deep, deep down damage that's being done to your skin and that will release later in life as well. [00:10:02] Speaker B: So I had a question about yesterday. One of the things we did was the red light therapy. [00:10:08] Speaker A: Yes. [00:10:09] Speaker B: So talk to me about that and the reason I'm really interested. My father had that done years ago when he had some kind of accident and it messed up one of the tendons or something in his leg. And they used red light therapy. And I mean, I. [00:10:24] Speaker A: For the healing. [00:10:25] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh. I mean, like, he was back in action in like, just a few weeks where it would have taken months. And so then. So yesterday, when she pulls that out and we did it, I was like, yeah, I mean, I get this. Yeah. I was like, oh, my gosh. This is red light therapy. [00:10:38] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:10:39] Speaker B: Because I've heard about it, but I've never done it before. [00:10:40] Speaker A: Yeah. So there's a lot of different light therapies on the market. Ours are specific wavelengths that are going to be FDA approved and cleared to be able to help with redness, irritation, acne, it helps with hairdouse regeneration. It's going to help with bruising, healing all over skin repair. And so we do it after a hydrafacial specifically because it's going to open up the hair follicles and allow those serums that we use to penetrate deeper into the skin. And then also helps with redness, irritation, inflammation in the skin. But a lot of our girls will even ask if they can take our light home. Like, one of our staff recently got hit in the leg pretty hard by a dog. And it didn't break the skin, but it left a really nasty bruise on her leg. And so she was doing some ultrasound during the day and then taking the led light at home and treating that bruise, and it's almost completely healed. [00:11:32] Speaker B: Wow. That is amazing. [00:11:34] Speaker A: It works really, really well. [00:11:35] Speaker B: Yeah. Well, when my father had it done years ago, I was just like, this is incredible. And then, of course, I just never heard much about it. And then yesterday, why would I? And then yesterday, she said, oh, we're going to do this. But the scan that they did at the beginning, that machine where I put my head into. And again, for those listening, you can see it on my social media because we did a video, but y'all put my head into a little skin scanner. Is that what it is? Scanner. And then it pulled up all this information, like, what exactly was it telling? [00:12:06] Speaker A: So it's showing you your true age. It's gonna show you. [00:12:10] Speaker B: So it said 55. Okay, so I'm 56. So it was pretty close. [00:12:14] Speaker A: Yeah, that's good. To be lower, to be. [00:12:17] Speaker B: Yeah. You want to be under. [00:12:18] Speaker A: You want your true age to be younger than your real age. Gotcha. And it's pretty interesting, too, because we've done a couple of different case studies here recently where we'll have a patient go onto a skincare regimen. We'll track their progress from the beginning of their journey, month over month over month, and we can see them literally aging backwards. And so it's really neat to have that tool to be able to prove that what you're doing is working and to track that progress and to see the redness being reduced and the brown spots being reduced and the lines being reduced. And one of my staff pulled up a picture of one of our clients that we just did a full skin medica regimen on. And the difference is, like, night and day, really. The redness is completely removed just from adding in the skinmedica skincare product line to her regimen. [00:13:06] Speaker B: Wow. [00:13:07] Speaker A: So it's pretty neat to be able to track that and see, like, pore size. [00:13:11] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. [00:13:11] Speaker A: Your, you know, how many lines you have and how much bacteria you have on your skin and how many, like, blackheads you have in your nose. But it just gives us a really good picture of, like, what's specifically we need to start with. So you can nail down those target, like, biggest concerns first, and then we can kind of just titrate down to the lesser things after that. [00:13:33] Speaker B: So what do you do about the blackheads on your nose? Cause I've always had them, you know, just like most guys. [00:13:38] Speaker A: So hydrafacial, what you guys did yesterday is really great for the congestion in the nose. Also, our diamond glow is really great for congestion in the nose with blackheads. We have a new skin medica pore purifying cleanser and pore purifying serum. Really, really great for congestion in the nose area as well. My 13 year old's been using it. It literally made a difference in her breakouts and her pore size and everything within 48 hours. [00:14:06] Speaker B: Wow. Cool. [00:14:06] Speaker A: So it's got niacinamide in it, too. So it's super calming and is gentle enough to use every day, morning and night. [00:14:13] Speaker B: Really? Wow. And, yeah, that helps with acne and all that. [00:14:16] Speaker A: God, kids nowadays, like, I'm not going to say that kids won't ever have to go on Accutane because there are going to be cases that certainly do. I was on Accutane three times as a teenager, so it definitely has its place. But the goal is to prevent or prolong people from having to use that if possible. [00:14:37] Speaker B: I gotcha. Okay. I want to ask you a question about Botox. [00:14:40] Speaker A: Sure. Botox. [00:14:42] Speaker B: What's it called? [00:14:43] Speaker A: We call it Brotox. Brotox for guys. [00:14:45] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh. That's funny. I hadn't heard that. Do. Do a lot of guys get it? [00:14:49] Speaker A: They are starting to. [00:14:50] Speaker B: Starting to, yeah. So what I'm noticing with me is right here, these lines right above my brows, and I'm like, oh, my gosh. You know? And, you know, it's just me. And again, I don't look in the mirror that often, but when I do, yeah, that's kind of what I see. And I'm like, okay, I got to stop doing my brows down or whatever, scattering my face, which I don't do often, but. And so I thought, you know, it's Botox in my future. I don't know. Bro tox, it's. [00:15:18] Speaker A: It can make a big difference. [00:15:19] Speaker B: Can it? [00:15:19] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. I have a friend who has been getting some bro tox here and there, and he spends a lot of time outside, so he squints his eyes a lot. [00:15:28] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:15:29] Speaker A: And, like, I can tell a big difference when he's been getting his toxin and when he hasn't, it literally will reverse his age by five years. [00:15:37] Speaker B: Really? [00:15:37] Speaker A: When he's been. When he's toxin, when he's not, I'm like, it is time. [00:15:42] Speaker B: Your wife will think. [00:15:45] Speaker A: No, not at all. So they use an insulin syringe. It's tiny little sticks. It takes effect. Sometimes people notice a difference in as early as two or three days. Full onset, we say is 14 days. Typically, it's a lot sooner than that. And then you can expect your results to last at least three months or so. But we do have a new one called daxine, and there's a Daxi lite and a Daxi full dosing. I get Daxi full dosing. It also has peptides in it, so it's gonna help with the overall skin tone and texture as well as that relaxing the muscles. And I get a little bit longer lifespan out of that one too. So I'm gonna get more like four to five months versus the two to three months that I would normally get with a traditional botox. [00:16:32] Speaker B: Now, does your husband get anything? Does he do any of that? [00:16:34] Speaker A: He does. He recently came in and got Ulthera for his eyes. [00:16:38] Speaker B: What is that? [00:16:39] Speaker A: So ulthera is an ultrasound that goes as deep as it goes down to the smas. So it's going as deep as like if you were to have a facelift. [00:16:47] Speaker B: Okay. [00:16:47] Speaker A: And the results last for up to a year. And he has hooded eyelids and so he doesn't want to have surgery or anything, but he wants something that's non invasive, that's pretty quick, that doesn't hurt, that's going to last for a long time. And so he really enjoys the ulthera because he can get it in the office here in 30, 45 minutes and then the results are going to last him for a year. And it just kind of like subtly lifts the brows up, softens the forehead lines and the crow's feet. And then he's had road tox before. He just doesn't want to have to come in every three months, every few months to get it. [00:17:20] Speaker B: So this is a better, obviously this. [00:17:21] Speaker A: Is a better lifestyle option for him. [00:17:24] Speaker B: Gotcha. [00:17:24] Speaker A: And he enjoys it, so we'll let him get it. [00:17:28] Speaker B: Does he like come in and do an all? [00:17:30] Speaker A: I mean, he does not like to come in and get all the things. He's a very minimalist when it comes to his skincare. [00:17:36] Speaker B: Yeah, me too. [00:17:36] Speaker A: I mean, that's hedgesthe. He doesn't have a lot of hair by any means, but he does like hair care. So if I bring home a new shampoo or conditioner, he is really excited about that. [00:17:47] Speaker B: Really. [00:17:48] Speaker A: Okay, I'll, I'll take the win where I can. [00:17:50] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, sure, sure. Is he losing his too? [00:17:54] Speaker A: No, he's just got finer hair. Okay, so he has hair. He is just a little bit. [00:17:58] Speaker B: It's just a little finer. [00:17:59] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:18:00] Speaker B: That happens as we get older. Yeah. [00:18:02] Speaker A: So he'll use skin care sometimes, but he's just very sensitive and so he just is very minimal. [00:18:08] Speaker B: Well, that was one thing she said yesterday. She said your skin, your skin is somewhat sensitive. [00:18:13] Speaker A: Right. [00:18:13] Speaker B: And I mean, I guess I knew that because when I shave, I use sensitive skin shaving cream. But yeah, when I got out of there, I, you know, I hadn't looked in a mirror until I got back to the. To my studio, and I didn't really see any redness or splotchy. It looked good. So, um. Because I know she said on one of my cheeks it was a little redder than the other one, which happens. [00:18:37] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:18:37] Speaker B: But, no, everything. I mean, yesterday was a great experience. So good. [00:18:42] Speaker A: Yeah. So the hydra facial that you got is with our hydrofacial syndaio platform, and we've been partners with hydrafacial for, gosh, going on 1113 years, something like that. A long time. We are, like, number 16 in the nation with them. [00:18:59] Speaker B: Wow. [00:19:00] Speaker A: So we do a lot of hydrafacials. So I would. [00:19:03] Speaker B: Is that, like, one of your most popular? [00:19:05] Speaker A: It is one of our most popular services that we offer. So we. We have a lot of experience with hydrofacial. It's a. Uses a vortex tip and suction, and then their specialty, proprietary blend of serums that we're infusing into your skin. And then. And it's something. Yeah, right. [00:19:25] Speaker B: Am I saying some acid thing? [00:19:27] Speaker A: Yeah, there's the glycosal prep, and so that does kind of like a little mini enzyme pill. [00:19:33] Speaker B: Yeah, I like the feel. [00:19:35] Speaker A: It kind of tingles a little bit. [00:19:36] Speaker B: And it actually smelled pretty good. I mean, I thought. [00:19:39] Speaker A: So I kind of described that step as, like, little Pacman eating away the dead skin. And then we go in with a hyaluronic acid in the last step, and so that really just gets in there and rehydrates and plumps and volumizes the skin. [00:19:50] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:19:51] Speaker A: And then the cool thing about the hydrafacial, too, is that you can really customize it with different boosters. So we probably have 15 or 20 different customized boosters that you can add into your treatment, depending on what your skin specifically needs in that month. So even if you did a hydrofacial every single month, you can tailor it based on what you need in that season of your life with one of those custom boosters, too. [00:20:14] Speaker B: Gotcha. [00:20:15] Speaker A: So we have, like, a vitamin C, we have an acne one. We have a dermal repair one that's gonna help thicken the skin and protect the skin and hydrate the skin. So it's got a lot of really cool booster functions on there. There's also the perk that we can do treated treatments around your lips, and then we have a perk eye that we can do custom treatments around your eye, and then you go home with take home product with that. Oh, that's cool. And then we also have upgraded versions of the hydrofacial as well that include lymphatic drainage, which is really nice, too. [00:20:50] Speaker B: So. Well, for a guy, this is so guy. The best part, not best, but was seeing what she had pulled out of the jar. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah. When she said, oh, yeah, this is what. And honestly, one as bad as I thought, you know, because I, you know, I would assume there are people that maybe is darker or maybe not, I don't know. But we see a lot of interesting things in this and I would. And tell me that, I mean, like, if you're. I'm not a smoker, but I guess if you're a smoker, it would pull out all that. Yeah, well, mine was a little cloudy, of course, but it was interesting to see. [00:21:26] Speaker A: Yeah, the diamond globe is like that, too. So when we do the diamond globe, it's a little bit more invasive than the hydrofacial end that you're. You're removing more dermis of the skin with that one. So you can see, like little pieces of skin floating around in it, too. So it's kind of like gross, but fun to watch. [00:21:44] Speaker B: Listen, my girlfriend loves all that kind of stuff. She watches doctor pimple popper, and I cannot, like, I could never do what you guys do. I don't think. I don't think I could see some of the stuff that y'all see and all that. But I guess, you know, it's a lot of fun. You love it. It's your passion. I can get it. [00:22:01] Speaker A: Well, it's fun, too, to, like, watch people go through these journeys. They come in, they have something that concerns them, and we have a solution for them. And so to be able to watch them evolve into this version of themselves that they wanted to see has been really rewarding to help them be able to achieve those things in a non invasive way. [00:22:24] Speaker B: Yeah. Now what? Vitamins and stuff? Is there anything I can take that would help with. I mean, it's like b twelve or bc. I mean, I don't know. [00:22:33] Speaker A: So I personally take a b twelve complex and a d three. [00:22:37] Speaker B: Every month I take d three and. [00:22:38] Speaker A: K. Something like a magnesium. [00:22:41] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I do magnesium. Um, and I didn't take t three, but then I kind of just. I'm bad. I go for a while, take them, and then I'll, eh. And then I stop and it's like going to the gym. [00:22:53] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:22:54] Speaker B: You get out of the habit and. [00:22:55] Speaker A: Then the best thing you can do for your skin, honestly, for anti aging, is a good retinol and an SPF really. Um, and then, you know, skin better has made it super easy for men. They gave you guys this product called solo for men, and it's basically like everything all in one. [00:23:12] Speaker B: Oh, really? [00:23:13] Speaker A: Other than the SPF and the retinol, because you're not going to use the retinol every single night. [00:23:19] Speaker B: So solo, like a cream, or is it a cream? [00:23:21] Speaker A: Solo is a topical skincare product that you would use, and so it has your hydrator, your environmental defense. It's got everything that you would need as a man all in one product. So it just makes your life a lot simpler. [00:23:34] Speaker B: Yeah. Well, good. [00:23:35] Speaker A: One step, and you're done every day, morning and night. [00:23:37] Speaker B: Well, that's good for guys because we like symptoms. [00:23:39] Speaker A: During the day, you would put your SPF on top of that, and at nighttime, yeah, you would. [00:23:43] Speaker B: Maybe you apply it once a day. [00:23:44] Speaker A: Or twice a day, or the studies were with once a day, but you're gonna get best results if you use it twice a day. [00:23:49] Speaker B: Gotcha. [00:23:50] Speaker A: But everybody loves the solo for men. I wish that they would make a solo for women. [00:23:54] Speaker B: Really? [00:23:55] Speaker A: So I use, like, seven to ten steps in my skincare regime. [00:23:58] Speaker B: Oh, you do? Yeah. I was gonna ask. I mean, your skin looks flawless. It's amazing. But, yeah. What does it take to get a. [00:24:05] Speaker A: Lot of skincare products? [00:24:06] Speaker B: Does it? [00:24:07] Speaker A: Yeah. And I don't have time to do a ton of facial services when I do my go to is a diamond glow or dermaplaning diamond glow and a laser genesis stacked together. I really love that combination. And then we just have a new combo that we just put in offering at smart skin. And it is a diamond glow, a luminous micro needling or a skin pen microneedling, and a laser genesis. And we call that the filter facial. [00:24:33] Speaker B: Wow. [00:24:33] Speaker A: And so for people that kind of want, like, a little bit of a level up with their treatment, that's a really good thing to do in between their membership services. [00:24:42] Speaker B: So all this. All these services you guys offer, I mean, it's impressive. Like, are you running out of space over there? [00:24:49] Speaker A: Because, I mean, we've been running out of space since. [00:24:51] Speaker B: I know. Since as long as I've known you guys. It's like, you know, we need to. Y'all need to add a second level or something. But, I mean, I know when you. [00:24:59] Speaker A: Came in yesterday, the girls were probably thinking you're about to yell at them about our parking. [00:25:03] Speaker B: Yeah, for the backstory. My studio used to be right next door to you guys, and y'all just don't have enough parking. And I get it. [00:25:10] Speaker A: That's why we took on this space every year. So we had overflow parking. [00:25:13] Speaker B: Yeah. And so people don't know where to park. They're doing the best they can. [00:25:16] Speaker A: I know. [00:25:16] Speaker B: And then I get all riled up and come over and, like, you know, move your car. Move the car. I can't get my van in or something, so. Yeah, at least y'all don't have to hear me anymore. So I don't know if y'all hear me now. [00:25:28] Speaker A: They just hear me yelling at them. I'm like, you've got to move your car. Kathy has nowhere to park. [00:25:32] Speaker B: Yeah. Y'all need a concierge, like a ballet. [00:25:34] Speaker A: I know. We really do. I wish there was, like. [00:25:37] Speaker B: But there's no place to park. I mean, that's. [00:25:39] Speaker A: If we could work out something with, like, the hotel, maybe, like, the upstairs would be good if we could, like. [00:25:45] Speaker B: I know something, but y'all got some parking over here when you rented this? [00:25:48] Speaker A: We did, yes. So, like, we. I park over here a lot, and several of the girls do, so that helps. And we try to let clients know, like, if you can't find anything over here, you can park across the street at the Regents tower. Parking, because we have office space over here, and it includes some. And especially because they're in and out, like, 30 minutes, typically, it's easy for them to just pop over here and then pop right back out. [00:26:14] Speaker B: Now, the new location that we talked about doing art for. [00:26:17] Speaker A: Yes. That's in Hoover. [00:26:19] Speaker B: Can we talk about. [00:26:20] Speaker A: So we're not announcing where in Hoover yet. [00:26:22] Speaker B: Ooh, a mystery. [00:26:23] Speaker A: So. [00:26:24] Speaker B: So. But it's in the Hoover area. [00:26:25] Speaker A: It is in the Hoover area, and it's a smaller startup location for the area. We do have some future growth plans for that side of town, so we're really excited about that. [00:26:37] Speaker B: Yeah, that's exciting. [00:26:38] Speaker A: I know that my mom's wanting you to do something similar to the artwork that you've done over here, so it's obviously going to have a very similar feel to our current location and extension of us. [00:26:50] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:50] Speaker A: So I think that it's going to be really great. [00:26:53] Speaker B: Well, you're. Your spa is beautiful. I mean, the artwork and, you know, being an artist, I'm looking at the art. I noticed, you know, Carrie Pittman and so. And I'm just. But it's very consistent. [00:27:05] Speaker A: And so Carrie did that piece right at the front door. Custom for us. At our old homewood location. We were on Oxmore Road. [00:27:13] Speaker B: Oh, you are? [00:27:14] Speaker A: Yeah. So do you know where homewood dentistry is? Yeah. [00:27:17] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:27:17] Speaker A: So she owns that building and we were on the right half of the building. We were there for five years. [00:27:22] Speaker B: Really? Right there on Oxmore. Not a couple blocks or whatever. Yeah, yeah. [00:27:25] Speaker A: So Carrie did that piece custom for us. [00:27:27] Speaker B: Wow, that's a while back. [00:27:29] Speaker A: It looks a lot smaller here than it did over there. Yeah, over there. That piece of art looked huge because. [00:27:34] Speaker B: It was a smaller space. [00:27:36] Speaker A: And then it's, you know, our ceilings are so high over here that kind of, like, fit perfect on that wall. [00:27:42] Speaker B: Yeah, it does. I mean, everything in there flows nicely. And just the aesthetics, I mean, you know, everything. So who does the designing? Your mom. [00:27:51] Speaker A: I figured. [00:27:51] Speaker B: She's got that good eye. [00:27:53] Speaker A: She's really good at that. And then Debbie, who owns beard and design, she helps my mom kind of, like, figure out where she wants stuff. And then my stepdad hangs it all. He's. [00:28:01] Speaker B: Oh, he does. [00:28:02] Speaker A: He's good at, like, he's a perfectionist when it comes to hanging. [00:28:05] Speaker B: Yeah. Making sure everything is. [00:28:07] Speaker A: Yes. And then Steve at Soho Retro, he'll hang some stuff for us, too. So, like that piece of driftwood that we have next to the face wash bar, we got that from him and he hung it. We've got a couple of pieces, overdose, in the waiting area that we got from him that he hung for us. [00:28:22] Speaker B: Yeah. I love this store. [00:28:23] Speaker A: So. And then he did the chairs that are in here. [00:28:26] Speaker B: Oh, he did? Oh, nice. [00:28:27] Speaker A: We got several things. These chairs that were sitting in and this table came from. [00:28:31] Speaker B: Came from. So. Really? [00:28:32] Speaker A: So he's got really great stuff. [00:28:33] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:28:34] Speaker A: In there. You might talk to him about putting some of your pieces in there. [00:28:37] Speaker B: You know, I walk by there all. [00:28:38] Speaker A: The time, and he's fantastic. [00:28:40] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. I mean, his stuff is. It's very unique. Like, you're not gonna find anything like his in this area. And so I'm always intrigued, you know, when I walk by looking, you know, just window shop. [00:28:52] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:28:52] Speaker B: And. Because I'm usually, you know, headed somewhere in a Russian, but, yeah, he's got great stuff. [00:28:58] Speaker A: He does. [00:28:59] Speaker B: I will. I'll go by and see. [00:29:00] Speaker A: Yeah, he's got custom artwork in there, too, from different artists. [00:29:03] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. [00:29:04] Speaker A: So. Definitely. [00:29:05] Speaker B: And he must have a pretty good business. I mean, he's been there a while. Yeah. I mean, that's what I love about homewood. We have some very unique. Like, you're not going to find it anyplace else in this city. And for those, you know, who follow me or whatever, if they're listening, I mean, people don't realize Birmingham's a million people, you know, MSa it's not a small town. And homewood, to me, is kind of the. I always think it's like the center. [00:29:30] Speaker A: It's the heartbeat, it's the heart. [00:29:32] Speaker B: It is. If you look at it on the map, it's right kind of in the middle. So, anyway, I love homewood, and I'm glad you all are here, so. Okay. [00:29:42] Speaker A: So, home has been great for us because we were in Cahawba Heights for ten years. We were in mountain Brook, in Crestline village for ten years. [00:29:49] Speaker B: Really? Where were you all in? [00:29:51] Speaker A: We were on Church street, across from Regents bank there. [00:29:53] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:29:54] Speaker A: And then we opened up our second location in Homewood on Oxmore. We were there for five years, and we also had a pop up for a year at Gus Meyer. [00:30:03] Speaker B: Oh, really? And your mom has. [00:30:05] Speaker A: I've been. We've been places. [00:30:07] Speaker B: Yeah. So she started this business a long time ago. [00:30:10] Speaker A: Over 25 years ago. [00:30:11] Speaker B: Wow. Good for her. [00:30:13] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:30:13] Speaker B: Yeah. It was just her vision, her passion. [00:30:16] Speaker A: And then I would say that when we moved to Homewood, that's what really exploded our business. We had a really great business in Crestline, but when we came to Homewood, it just opened up so many more opportunities for us and pulled from so many new places that we weren't able to tap into when we were in Crestline, just because it's so deep into the village that it's hard for people to get in and out of there. [00:30:41] Speaker B: And I've always said I would. I would not me personally, I would not put a business in Crestline. I love Crestline, and I live near Crestline, but it is. It's one of those. It's a little tricky to get to. And so, yeah, homewood, to me, is the best of all worlds because it is so accessible to all the other. [00:30:58] Speaker A: Areas, because you can get downtown, you can get to Vestavia Hoover, you know, Mountain Brook, anywhere you want to go within 15 minutes. [00:31:06] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:31:07] Speaker A: So we love homewood. [00:31:09] Speaker B: Yeah. I'm not leaving anytime soon. I mean, this is. This is it. Yeah. So, what else is going on with your. I mean, y'all's business has just been. Y'all got an amazing clientele. I mean, very loyal. [00:31:22] Speaker A: We have the best clients. [00:31:23] Speaker B: Y'all do. Because they used to come into my gallery. [00:31:26] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:31:26] Speaker B: You know, like, when they're waiting or they're, you know, show up early or they're leaving, and they always had just wonderful things to say about you guys. [00:31:34] Speaker A: Yeah. They're fantastic. And we love having you guys. And now, Kathy, you know, at the blended bungalow next to us, because if they are early, then we can just send them over, and it gives them something productive to do with their time, because I hate just sitting and waiting, so I like to give them something fun to do. And Kathy's always got really great new, interesting things to look at, and they are. [00:31:54] Speaker B: She's got a great eye. [00:31:55] Speaker A: She does. [00:31:56] Speaker B: She does. And Penelope, your daughter, I'm sure you've met Penelope. [00:31:59] Speaker A: Yes. [00:32:00] Speaker B: Yeah. Now, do you ever see Steve at all? Oh, yeah, I do. [00:32:04] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:32:04] Speaker B: Does his wife come and do anything? Does she? Because she looks great. [00:32:07] Speaker A: Yeah, she does look great. She. She just picked up some skincare the other. [00:32:12] Speaker B: Okay. [00:32:12] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:32:13] Speaker B: Yeah. Well, she used to come in and get chocolate from us. [00:32:15] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:32:16] Speaker B: And. [00:32:16] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, I love looking in their store, too. [00:32:18] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:32:19] Speaker A: Because they've always gotten new, interesting pieces of jewelry. I've owned several pieces. [00:32:24] Speaker B: Oh, you do? Yeah. Yeah, he's got a great business. [00:32:27] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:32:28] Speaker B: I mean. Yeah. When we first moved in, you know, I didn't know Steve. And here all of a sudden, like, a Lamborghini pulls up. [00:32:38] Speaker A: He's got a new car recently. [00:32:39] Speaker B: He what? [00:32:40] Speaker A: He got a new car recently? [00:32:41] Speaker B: Well, and his. It was his customers. I mean, he's got some highbrow customers. [00:32:46] Speaker A: He does. [00:32:46] Speaker B: Yeah. Like, a lambo pulled up, and then, like, you know, a week later, Ferrari pulled up. And then one of the. [00:32:52] Speaker A: You know, there's a reason why he has a police officer sitting in his store all day, every day, which I don't hate because I enjoy having safety on the safer. [00:33:00] Speaker B: Yeah, but, yeah, no, he's got a great business, and he carries nice. [00:33:04] Speaker A: There's such nice people, too. [00:33:06] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Well, that's the other thing. I mean, that's what I love about homewood. Yes. We might disagree on parking or whatever, but, I mean, nobody's gonna get out with a gun and, like, you know, go crazy. You know, all the shop owners, I think, are pretty supportive of each other. I mean, I'm always. I'm sending people anyway, you know, if anybody walks in, hey, where can I get. You know. [00:33:26] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:33:27] Speaker B: I always want to send them to somebody in a home because my son. [00:33:30] Speaker A: Gets his hair cut at cowlicks. And we. Pastry arts. Yeah, everything, all the time. [00:33:36] Speaker B: Oh, those pastry arts. [00:33:37] Speaker A: And then we eat at all of these restaurants on the street. [00:33:41] Speaker B: Let's talk about diet for a second. Skin and diet. That's got to be connected. [00:33:46] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, of course. [00:33:47] Speaker B: Okay, so, biome. [00:33:48] Speaker A: And if you've got something going on and you're. And your body that's food related, it's gonna show up in your skin for sure. [00:33:55] Speaker B: So I've cut back on my sugar. You know, of course, I owned a chocolate store, but believe it or not, I did not eat a lot of chocolate, because I chocolate eater either. You're not. Well, I am. I love it. You do? I do. Always have. But I'm pre diabetic. I mean, my brother was diabetic, and so type two, and I do not want to get. So years ago, the doctor said, okay, you've got to pull back. And I grew up on just the sugar in general. Yeah. Yes. And of course, as you know, everything in our food and drinks, so I stopped drinking sodas 25 years ago, maybe longer, and I haven't had, I drink water and that's it. Now, I love sparkling water, so I drink a lot of that, but I drink regular water. [00:34:39] Speaker A: Do you drink coffee or tea or anything? [00:34:41] Speaker B: So I drink herbal tea, matcha tea every morning with a little bit of honey and some apple cider vinegar, which I love in the tea and lemon. And so I do that first thing when I wake up. But then after that, I got to have my coffee. So I used to be a junkie. I did. I was at Starbucks every day, twice a day. But I only get coffee, like, I don't get all the fancy frapput. [00:35:06] Speaker A: Do you ever get coffee from farm bowl? [00:35:09] Speaker B: I have not. [00:35:10] Speaker A: So I love their smoothies and their coffee and everything, because it's just pure organic ingredients and it doesn't have additives or extra sugar or extra, like, unnecessary things in it. So it's a little bit more bland because it doesn't have added sugar in it. But you just feel like you feel better after you've drank something. Because normally if I drink, try to do some sort of smoothie cleanse or smoothie fast or anything, it's just too much sugar for me. [00:35:35] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. [00:35:36] Speaker A: To where those are not like that at all. [00:35:38] Speaker B: Well, you were, you were talking about it being bland. You know, I found, because I've really cut back on my sugar over the last few years. Once you get used to less sugar, it doesn't taste bland. It's just we're so conditioned, especially in America, every sugars and everything, and we love sugar. We're addicted to sugar. [00:35:57] Speaker A: I don't put sugar in my coffee at all anymore. [00:36:00] Speaker B: You know, I put, well, no, I don't even put sugar in. I have a little bit of creamer. It has some sweetness to it, like a sweet cream. Yeah, well, I usually do a heavy cream, but I just put it a little bit. And that's it. And. But, yeah, once you pull back on the sugar, it's the pulling back that's the hard part. [00:36:19] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:36:20] Speaker B: Because our bodies are so, like, just. Yeah, I mean, we got a detox from it or whatever. And so I. But I do feel like since I've cut back on my sugar intake, that my skin looks better. I mean, I may be making that up, but I think it does well. [00:36:37] Speaker A: Drinking water and having electrolytes. So you don't want to, obviously, drink just too much plain water, because that can flush everything out. [00:36:45] Speaker B: Okay. [00:36:46] Speaker A: But adding in those electrolytes and making sure you have the minerals and everything in your. [00:36:50] Speaker B: So how do you do that? Mineral water or. Okay, because I love mineral water. [00:36:54] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:36:54] Speaker B: Like topachico and stuff like that. Yeah, that is mineral water. Right. Perrier. [00:36:59] Speaker A: Yeah. And then they have the celtic sea salt that you can put under your tongue, too. That will make sure that you get your minerals. [00:37:05] Speaker B: Oh, really? Okay. See, I did not know that. Yeah, that's my thing. I mean, I need to get more of that in my system, I think, because I normally just drink regular water or, you know, some of this flavored water that's out there now. [00:37:20] Speaker A: Yeah, we have to be careful with some of those, too, because they've got a lot of sugar in it. [00:37:24] Speaker B: Well, okay, so the best app in the world is Yuka. [00:37:28] Speaker A: Okay. [00:37:28] Speaker B: You know yuka? [00:37:29] Speaker A: No. [00:37:30] Speaker B: Oh, my God. My girlfriend and I are addicted to it. It's Yuka. But basically, everything in America that is in a grocery store has a barcode, right? And yuca, you scan it, it will tell you everything you want to know about that product, but it does it in a very simplistic way. First, it'll take. It'll rate it from zero to 100, 100 being the best, zero being. And, Lacy, some of the things that we've been marketed to that are supposed to be healthy, right? You. If you yuka it, you will be shocked. You'll be shocked. So that'll be one of my videos. Betsy, my girlfriend, and I were talking about going through stores like whole Foods, which we love, in other places, and. And doing the yuca, because there are so many things that we think that we're eating that are good for us because that. That's how we've been. [00:38:16] Speaker A: That's how they've marketed it. [00:38:17] Speaker B: Yeah. And that's. Right. And. But it'll. It'll give it a score, zero to 100, and then rate it, you know, good, bad, poor, whatever. And then it'll tell you why you know, like, what's in it that's making it have a bad score or good score or whatever. But, yeah, so Yuka is a great app. So I love to Yucca, and I will start yucca in my water. [00:38:38] Speaker A: Do you yuka? [00:38:39] Speaker B: Do yu. Yuka? Oh, I. Yuka. I love it. I mean, it's like. And I know the grocery people probably hate, you know, but I'm over there, scan and everything. They probably don't even know what I'm doing, but, yeah. Um, but it really does. It's a very interesting, because, you know, normally I'm just in there grabbing stuff, just whatever's on, whatever, and, yeah, whatever people, you know, been talking about or sold me on and. But, yeah, now I'm really careful. Even ice cream, which I don't eat a lot of ice cream, but if you go through in yucca, you'll actually find some ice cream sets that aren't full of that much sugar and stuff. [00:39:14] Speaker A: Well, I mean, and it's the same with everything. I mean, like, body products that you think are good for you, that have all these chemicals in it, and all of these different things that you never would even think about that are harmful to your body. But one of the things that I love about specifically skin medica is that although the ingredient deck looks like scientific name, if you looked it up, it's actually a very real, natural, healthy environment for you. Every ingredient that's in a skin medica product could be found in a salad bowl. And so I love that not only are you going to get those really great science based, like, efficacious results, but they're all really natural and good for you ingredients as well. [00:39:53] Speaker B: Yeah. How do you all pick out your products? Because you got, obviously, top, top notch. I mean, not the stuff you can buy anywhere. [00:40:00] Speaker A: Like, you know, they're all physician dispensed, pharmaceutical grade skincare products. [00:40:04] Speaker B: But how do you. Because there's so many products out there. How do you guys, like, how do you test them? [00:40:08] Speaker A: Determine. [00:40:09] Speaker B: Yeah, determine, like, what you're gonna. [00:40:10] Speaker A: So everything that we bring into smart skin has been exhaustively researched and tested by us. And so we have to make sure that it's, number one something that we would want to use. It's gonna be cosmetically elegant, that they're gonna, not only is it gonna give those great results, but they're gonna want to use it and be excited about using it. [00:40:29] Speaker B: Right. [00:40:30] Speaker A: And so we all test it out ourselves, and we make sure that it's something that is a demand from our clients. It's something that we feel like they would use and enjoy using and continue to keep on their shelves. And so we just, there's a lot of really great skincare products out there that we don't carry because we already have something to fill that gap and we just don't want to overwhelm them with too many options of the same thing. We just pick what we feel like is the best of the best. And that's what we bring into our practice for our patients. [00:41:00] Speaker B: Now, she'd mentioned yesterday that you all have a. I'm not going to get this right. Not subscription. A membership. Yeah. What is that about? [00:41:10] Speaker A: Yeah, so the membership program allows for our clients to come in every single month and get one, two or four basic facial services, and it discounts the service for them. It's a one year agreement. It comes out automatically. But if you get busy and you can't make it in, you don't lose that money that you paid. It stays on your account. And you can apply that towards extra services, upgraded services, add on services. It doesn't mean that you have to, like, make up for that many basic facial services. We give you lots of options of things you can do with it, and then it just holds you accountable to come in on a consistent basis because you see that charge and they're like, sure, I need to get in. But we do try to always pre book out your appointment too, to keep that routine going. [00:41:51] Speaker B: Right. [00:41:53] Speaker A: But it's done in 30 minutes. You come in with a clean face, you wash your own face. We spend the entire treatment time on what's gonna actually benefit your skin. And that way we can make it more affordable so that everybody can fit it into their budget and have really great skincare treatment plan. [00:42:06] Speaker B: Yeah, that might be a Betsy Christmas gift. [00:42:09] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. You guys can do the 140 membership and split it and y'all both get one. [00:42:14] Speaker B: Oh, I like that. [00:42:15] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:42:16] Speaker B: Yeah, I'll talk to her about that. [00:42:17] Speaker A: We have a lot of husband and wife, boyfriend, girlfriends. Mm hmm. [00:42:20] Speaker B: And they come in together and they'll. [00:42:21] Speaker A: Come in together, or if it doesn't match up for their schedules, they'll come in separately. Whatever works for them. Yeah, but we have a lot of people that. [00:42:28] Speaker B: So we're just, I mean, obviously you have a list of all your menu of all the treatments. Where is it on the website? [00:42:36] Speaker A: It is. And we have a virtual consultation guide on there. So she can go on our website, fill out her areas of concern. It will give her a list of everything that we offer that will address those concerns. And then our front desk will call her and schedule a complimentary consultation to go over her results, educate her on those, and then tell her about the membership program, if that's something that she wants to sign up for. [00:42:58] Speaker B: Okay. [00:42:59] Speaker A: But it just makes it really easy for everybody to see exactly what we have, and then we can educate them on those things. [00:43:04] Speaker B: Yeah, I want her to see, because I really have no idea. Yeah, I mean, I know she loves facial, you know, facials and stuff, but what else? [00:43:12] Speaker A: And our staff is really good, too, about listening to your concerns and what you're wanting to address and what your timeline is and what your budget is telling you, everything that you need to know. So you come in for your visit, they'll have a little checkout slip for you. It'll say who you were, what you did, what they recommend for you to do next time, and any skincare products that they had recommended for you. So then the front desk can go ahead and get you scheduled and then educate you or pull any skincare products that you wanted to take home with you that day. [00:43:41] Speaker B: That was something I noticed yesterday with the young lady who helped me. She was really. Yeah, she knew her stuff. [00:43:47] Speaker A: I mean, they all do. [00:43:48] Speaker B: Well, I figured. [00:43:49] Speaker A: I mean, but, yeah, they have to. Yeah. [00:43:52] Speaker B: I mean, at the level of service that you in, what y'all are providing. I mean, y'all have some. Some amazing people, but they've got to know that stuff and. Yeah, and I guess, you know, just like art. I know everything pretty much, because I've been doing this 20 years, and I guess you do. You've got to learn it. It's. Yeah, it's your passion. It's your thing. But you've got to educate others and say it in a way, like she said it in a way that makes sense. I could understand. Yeah, it makes sense. So. But how many people do y'all have over there now? [00:44:19] Speaker A: 22. [00:44:20] Speaker B: Wow. Now, any, like, do y'all need. Is there anybody like a doctor or anybody. [00:44:26] Speaker A: We have three doctors and nurse practitioner and an RN. And then the rest are. [00:44:30] Speaker B: And what did they do? Is it for the boat's? [00:44:33] Speaker A: So I have three doctors that are our medical directors, but then they also inject for us. So they do botox, dermal fillers, biostimulatory fillers, hormone replacement therapy, and semiglutide. [00:44:43] Speaker B: Oh, let's talk about hormones for a second. Men. Do you all do anything for men? [00:44:48] Speaker A: Yeah. So we do run hormone panels for men, and then we have one doctor that does pellets. [00:44:54] Speaker B: Okay. That's what I'm interested in. [00:44:55] Speaker A: She does hormone replacement. [00:44:57] Speaker B: I did the pellets years ago. [00:44:58] Speaker A: Okay. [00:44:59] Speaker B: Yeah. You know, I was in my forties. My energy was just down, and I went in, had testosterone tests. [00:45:05] Speaker A: Sure. [00:45:06] Speaker B: And, okay. And as you. I'm sure you know this, but, yeah, you know, man's testosterone starts dropping about the age 30. It goes down a little bit every year. And I'm 56, so needless to say, it's nowhere where it used to be. And I can tell, you know, I don't have the passion to go to the gym. I don't have the energy, you know? And so I would love to get that tested again, because when you go to a regular, like, my regular doctor who's done it, they give me the numbers and they go, okay, yeah, you fall into the normal range. And I had a pathologist years ago, a friend say, hold it, that's a bad test or a bad way to gauge it, because a. Those standards that they're measuring by are, like 50 years old. And then secondly, every man, where they start, it's different. So, yeah, if they. If they start, let's say, in the 800 range, and they drop just a few hundred, then it'll affect them one way. But if. If they start, you know, in the thousand range and it drops, so, you know, it's hard to put every man into one box, so to speak. Yeah, sure. So you're saying y'all can test my testosterone? [00:46:15] Speaker A: We can test everything. [00:46:16] Speaker B: Ooh, I like that. [00:46:18] Speaker A: So we did my blood panel recently because I was having some symptoms that I wasn't excited about. So we just ran a blood panel. My testosterone was low and a few other things, but for me personally, I was able to just make a few dietary changes and lifestyle changes to get my levels back up to where I wanted them to be. But then, you know, we have some other clients that are in a range where they do feel comfortable with going ahead and getting started on the pellets. [00:46:42] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:46:42] Speaker A: So we have a nurse practitioner, or ma are there every day to draw blood and send it off to the lab, and then our doctor would read the results and then call you and go over. [00:46:52] Speaker B: Well, that is what I will be coming in for next. [00:46:54] Speaker A: Yes. [00:46:54] Speaker B: Because truly and I think all Mendez can and wives and girlfriends can, you know, tell you, I can't speak for your husband, but, I mean, men, you know, as we get older, it's just we need that extra. We do. It's just, we just can't do this. And, I mean, I get it. We're getting older, but we don't want to get older. [00:47:14] Speaker A: Yeah. You don't want to feel older. [00:47:16] Speaker B: Yeah, we don't want to have to. Yeah. And, I mean, you know, I'm 56. 56 today isn't what it was 48, 50 years ago. So, you know, by the grace of God, I'll live another 30 years. I mean, my father's and 85, soon to be 86. So I don't want to feel, you know, every year, like, my testosterone's drop it in. Thus, I can't, you know, I just don't have the energy and don't have the strength, don't have the, you know, whatever to, like I used to. [00:47:41] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:47:42] Speaker B: So I will definitely get that done next because that's been on my. [00:47:46] Speaker A: Pretty much any day that you come in, we have somebody on staff, and I send it off to the labs. [00:47:53] Speaker B: Okay. [00:47:54] Speaker A: Our lab picks up every day. [00:47:55] Speaker B: Good. And then y'all do the pellets. Good, because I did the pellets years ago and they worked for me. [00:47:59] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah. We've got a lot of clients on semi glue tide right now, too, and having a lot of what? Semi glue tied the GLP one. [00:48:07] Speaker B: Oh, really? Yeah. [00:48:08] Speaker A: We've got a lot of clients that are on that and loving it. Just really changing their lives, too. [00:48:14] Speaker B: So is any of that, by chance, covered by insurance? [00:48:18] Speaker A: No. [00:48:18] Speaker B: Okay. Yeah. When I did the pellets years ago, it was not either. So I didn't know if maybe, you know, something changed in the law or. [00:48:25] Speaker A: Whatever, but we're going to be offering migraine botox here soon. [00:48:30] Speaker B: Oh, really? Cash pay option, because Betsy's daughter gets those from time to time. [00:48:35] Speaker A: So insurance will cover it, but you have to jump through a lot of hoops. And so we're going to be offering a cash pay option here, smart skin. So for people that don't want to have to go through all of that and all that, I think you have to try three different types of medications first, and it's a long process to get your insurance to cover it, but so we're excited to be able to offer that to the people that need it. [00:48:59] Speaker B: Well, and especially in this economy. I mean, things are just not good right now. So I know people, including myself. I mean, payment options help, for sure. [00:49:09] Speaker A: Yeah, we'll have a membership for it. Our ally just announced a payment option for Botox and filler through Allie. So that is available now at smart skin, which is really great. And then we have a firm for a lot of our packages and treatment options that we have, too. So we do have a lot more payment options today than we did even in the years past. [00:49:31] Speaker B: Right. So are y'all gonna add more stuff over there? I mean, like, more treatment? I mean, what else can you. [00:49:37] Speaker A: We're always, like, reinventing. [00:49:39] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:49:39] Speaker A: Adding it, like, y'all are gone. [00:49:40] Speaker B: The cutting edge. [00:49:41] Speaker A: We just invented a new facial service called the glass facial that includes a dermaplaning, a lactic pill, a sheet mask, a cold therapy, and it's a 30 minutes treatment that's available within our membership program now, too. [00:49:58] Speaker B: Gotcha. [00:49:58] Speaker A: So. And that one's been going over really well. Everybody really likes that a lot. It's a great value. [00:50:03] Speaker B: Okay. And I saw one of y'all's videos, I think was online going. Y'all went over to right here, the restaurant we just talked about. [00:50:14] Speaker A: Farm bowl. [00:50:14] Speaker B: Yeah. And got something. What was it? [00:50:16] Speaker A: Okay, so they're featuring smart skin this month. They have. [00:50:19] Speaker B: Yeah. That was amazing. [00:50:20] Speaker A: Called the glow up. And a dollar of each purchase is going to the skin cancer foundation. [00:50:25] Speaker B: Okay. [00:50:26] Speaker A: And so for this whole month, they're gonna have this specialty smoothie that's got. Yeah, they listed out all the ingredients, but I know it's got carrots and mangoes and bananas. And I had one on Monday. Was really good. Coconut cream. [00:50:39] Speaker B: Yes. [00:50:40] Speaker A: And it's pretty. It's aesthetic. [00:50:42] Speaker B: Okay. And it goes to skin cancer. Well, that's good, because we were talking before this about. [00:50:47] Speaker A: Right. So we got to choose which foundation we wanted to donate the money to for the month, and that's what we chose. [00:50:52] Speaker B: Gotcha. Do they do that every month, like, with a. [00:50:55] Speaker A: They have been. Yeah, they've been selecting either, like, a local influencer or local business and just pairing up with them and creating a custom smoothie for the month. [00:51:04] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. [00:51:05] Speaker A: And then promoting it. [00:51:06] Speaker B: Yeah. So, yeah, I love their. I mean, I get the acai stuff. [00:51:09] Speaker A: I love the acai bowl. Oh, so good. [00:51:11] Speaker B: I know. Especially on a hot day. Oh, my gosh. [00:51:14] Speaker A: The peanut butter one. [00:51:15] Speaker B: Is that what you get? [00:51:16] Speaker A: I like the one that's got the. The grains and the peanut butter, and. [00:51:21] Speaker B: I love all the grains. I don't get the peanut butter, but I get. It's got, like, mango and banana, and I can't remember what it's called, but I used to go in there, like, three times a week when it. When I first got the studio, I was at big, bad breakfast, you know, a couple times a week, and then farm bowl and. And, yeah. So now that I'm not on the street, I'm not over there as much. [00:51:42] Speaker A: As I used to, but she owns urban cook house too. Who does the farm bowl. [00:51:49] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, right, right next door. Yeah, yeah, they own both. [00:51:51] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:51:52] Speaker B: And then next to them is real and rosemary, so. [00:51:55] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:51:55] Speaker B: Y'all got nice little restaurant row thing going on here. [00:51:58] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, we eat a big fat breakfast and all. I mean we had them all. [00:52:02] Speaker B: Do you? [00:52:03] Speaker A: Mm hmm. [00:52:03] Speaker B: Yeah. Well, you look thin so obviously you're not eating too much of the bad stuff. I mean, you know, like I got moderation and. Yeah, yeah. I mean I'm not that they're have. [00:52:15] Speaker A: Bad stuff but like I'm a late luncher. [00:52:17] Speaker B: Are you? [00:52:17] Speaker A: So I don't eat breakfast and I don't eat dinner because I eat lunch from one to two, really. So usually if I'll have coffee or tea for breakfast, I'm not hungry until lunch and then I don't really eat dinner so. Well, that ate a late lunch so I'm not hungry. [00:52:31] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:52:31] Speaker A: So if I intermittent fasting unintentionally, but it's, that's good. [00:52:36] Speaker B: I mean from what I hear from. [00:52:38] Speaker A: From what they're saying today. Yeah, that's what they say. [00:52:40] Speaker B: But you just do it unintentionally, but yeah, everybody else is like trying to. [00:52:44] Speaker A: And you just kinda, it's just kind of my lifestyle. [00:52:47] Speaker B: Yeah. No, the coffee definitely curbs my eyes. [00:52:50] Speaker A: Does for me too. [00:52:50] Speaker B: Yeah. I had breakfast this morning. I went to Salem's. Yep. Which is across from me now. [00:52:55] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:52:56] Speaker B: And had a nice breakfast. But I'm like you, although I skip lunch a lot of times. You do lunch, I will skip lunch and I'll do breakfast and dinner, but I don't eat a lot. I'm just not a big eater. You know, just again, I think it's a mindset kind of deal. Just, and once you get out of like Betsy and I, we split a dish everywhere we go and we always feel so much better because we're not overeating. [00:53:23] Speaker A: Well, especially if you take your time and don't eat too quickly, then you fill up faster. [00:53:27] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh, absolutely. But, but no, I think, you know, of course here in America we are, we're overeaters for sure. And just cutting back I think helps also with skin and I mean everything. Yeah, I mean your skin, I mean it's tied to everything, I guess so. [00:53:45] Speaker A: So I know we have to finish up, but first things first, we're going to figure out what skincare products you're going to use. You're going to schedule an appointment to get your blood drawn? Yes, for your hormone levels. And then what else are you excited about? [00:54:01] Speaker B: Well, I want to. Does she make a recommendation about. I'm sorry? [00:54:05] Speaker A: Does she make a recommendation for your next service? [00:54:07] Speaker B: Who? [00:54:08] Speaker A: Taylor. [00:54:08] Speaker B: Did she. I can't remember. I know. I don't think so. I'm not. If she did, I was. We were so busy filming. [00:54:15] Speaker A: So I would say probably the elite would be your next treat. Really, you should do. [00:54:18] Speaker B: Okay, and what is that exactly? [00:54:20] Speaker A: The elite is a hydrodermabrasion, ultrasound, steam, a hot. It's gonna give you a custom facial mask and then the oxygen jet treatment. [00:54:31] Speaker B: And when should I do that? Like, next month. Like once a month? Okay. [00:54:34] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:54:34] Speaker B: So. So facial a month is. Yeah, recommended, I guess. [00:54:38] Speaker A: At least once a month. Yeah. [00:54:39] Speaker B: Okay. At least once a month. All right. [00:54:41] Speaker A: And then you, Betsy, share membership. [00:54:44] Speaker B: I think that's a good. That's a good Christmas. [00:54:46] Speaker A: Park wherever you want. [00:54:47] Speaker B: I know. Now I get to park in a. [00:54:49] Speaker A: Park, but right in the front. [00:54:51] Speaker B: Yeah. Really? I get to pull up to the front. I feel special. No, I think that would be a great Christmas thing. [00:54:56] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:54:57] Speaker B: You know, it's hard to buy for. [00:54:58] Speaker A: It is. Well, it's funny, because these men will purchase their wives or girlfriends a membership for Christmas, and then they don't realize it's a lifelong. It's like the gift that never. Because they don't want to stop it. [00:55:13] Speaker B: Sure. I mean, yeah. Why would you. [00:55:15] Speaker A: Yeah. Well, thank you so much for joining me today. [00:55:18] Speaker B: Absolutely. [00:55:19] Speaker A: Thank you for joining us on today's episode of Smart cast. And we'll see you next week.
