[00:00:21] Speaker A: Hey, this is Lacey with Smartcast, and I'm joined today with our amazing neighbors across the street at Farm Bowl. Andrea, who's the owner and founder of Farm bowl, as well as her marketing director, Isabella. Thank you both so much for being here today.
[00:00:34] Speaker B: Thank you. This is a treat. We're podcast listeners, so yay.
[00:00:38] Speaker C: It's fun to be on the other end.
[00:00:40] Speaker A: Yeah. So we had a really fun morning with you guys. We took a couple of our team members across the street to Farm bowl and tested out the new smoothie that's going to be featured in August for smart skin for a collab that we're doing with you guys. And I'm going to let you guys tell me a little bit about what gave you the idea to start doing these smoothie collaborations and kind of where you're hoping that it's going to go from here.
[00:01:06] Speaker B: Okay, well, so I'm Andrea, and I'm going to give Bella most of the credit for this, but also there's not many original ideas left, so we kind of copied it.
[00:01:16] Speaker A: Yeah. Don't reinvent the wheel. Just take an idea and make it your own.
[00:01:21] Speaker B: There is a very high end grocery store in Los Angeles called Irwan. Yeah. Have you heard of it? They had the famous Hailey Bieber smoothie.
[00:01:29] Speaker A: I've seen it.
[00:01:30] Speaker B: And so Bella brought the idea to me that was not on my radar. I did not follow them or anything and said, this is what they're doing. How can we adapt that to Birmingham? And we don't have many influencers here in Birmingham who have a huge reach. So we have partnered with some, but also just opening up to businesses that are aligned with what we do. And so we make our, the first pieces. We make a delicious smoothie that is beautiful. We've never really thought about how the smoothies look, just how they taste. So they taste and now they look beautiful.
And then we partner with somebody we align with, like smartskin for August, and we also pick a charity piece to donate a portion of the sales to.
[00:02:12] Speaker A: Love that.
[00:02:13] Speaker B: And all of that just works really well. The community's been really excited. It has been the best marketing initiative we've ever done. We've been open for six years. Like, results wise.
[00:02:22] Speaker A: Yeah, I love that. And, well, and I love, too, that it's an opportunity to collaborate with your community as well. We love to do partnerships with other small businesses, specifically within homewood, investavia and their surrounding areas. And we found that that's been the best way for us to grow our client base. Also is working with those other business owners and helping each other and lifting each other up to help each everybody be successful in their own industries. So we're so excited to be a part of this. Whenever Gracie came over one day after she came to get a smoothie and was like, hey, they want to do a custom smoothie and do a collaboration with us. And it's going to be like the ocean eyes that they did with Deanna Pizzitz, which she's so cute, too. So I definitely went and got me one of the oceanized smoothies while you guys had that one.
So what are you guys doing this month?
[00:03:13] Speaker C: So this month is our hot pink smoothie. This one is probably looks the most like the Hailey Bieber glaze smoothie.
Strawberries. We get them local from a farm in Coleman, Alabama. So we've got a fresh, local strawberry puree that we put in there, and it is supporting the YWCA, my sister's closet. So right here, another local charity. And what's great about this one is one of our employees actually has been working really closely with the YWCA to get her life kind of back on track. And so not only were you supporting a local Birmingham, but it also is really, really close to home, and it's one of our best employees we have.
[00:03:53] Speaker A: Oh, I love that.
[00:03:55] Speaker B: And also, Megan.
Megan, Larissa, style yourself chic is part of it. She's a local stylist. Style yourself chic. And so she is showing people throughout the month how to style their clothes using the color pink. And that's why we call it. It's actually haute pink. Like haute couture. We spelled it like that. The fashion side. My sister's closet.
[00:04:16] Speaker A: I love that you guys need. One of my other favorite local businesses in Homewood is forecast hair salon. It would be a really fun collab with you guys to do, too. Yeah, and they're really super involved in the community and different foundations and stuff, too. So that would be a really fun one for y'all to add to your list. And I guess that's part of, like, doing this also, is everybody that you partner with has someone else that's great that they would like to introduce you to that could be a really good partner in this sort of thing that you're all doing as well. So I love that.
[00:04:51] Speaker B: Yeah, possibilities are endless, for sure. Like, we're gonna have a two year calendar planned out probably, right?
[00:04:56] Speaker C: Cause it's not even just smoothies. Like, we're planning an acai bowl or, you know, we could do a juice and it's fun to do things for a limited time to keep the hype around it, for sure. Now that the ocean eyes is gone, people are like, bring it back, you know?
[00:05:10] Speaker B: But that's what's hard, is everybody loves. We can't keep them around. So it's.
[00:05:15] Speaker A: Yeah, well, you could keep track of which ones perform the best and then put them as a feature on your menu as, like, a.
[00:05:25] Speaker B: Our menu could get really big, though.
[00:05:26] Speaker A: It could.
[00:05:27] Speaker B: So I don't know. Let's figure that out.
[00:05:31] Speaker A: Yeah. Well, maybe you could, like, feature it for the month that it was available the previous year.
[00:05:35] Speaker B: But then we have all these other ideas.
[00:05:38] Speaker A: There's always ideas. That's the fun part about entrepreneurship, though, is that, like, you get to be creative, and you get to have all these ideas that are outside of the box, and you're always figuring out ways to make things that you've always done that have been successful and then elevate them and make them that much better. So tell me the ingredients that are.
[00:05:56] Speaker B: In our custard smoothies. Okay, so the one we're doing with y'all is called the glow up. And the probably the most important ingredient in there is gonna be the collagen, which it's normally an add on, but it's gonna be included in this one. And then we have oat milk, coconut milk, bananas, honey orange, oranges, mango, carrot, vanilla, coconut cream. It's got a lot of stuff.
[00:06:19] Speaker A: It does. I got to try it earlier. It's delicious. I loved it. I will definitely be coming back for more. And I love that you guys have added the collagen in there as well as a complimentary booster to the smoothie. Collagen is great for so many different things. Skin, hair, nails. It helps, you know, reduce cellulite. It helps with bone density. It's going to help with your muscle regeneration. And so, like, they can go get their smoothie and then come right across the street to smart skin and get their emsculpt neo treatment or their facial service and just continue to stimulate that collagen production in multiple ways. So I like that pairing together, for sure.
[00:06:58] Speaker C: Yeah. And we're also giving away. We are partnering with smart skin as our fun little freebie.
If they join y'all. Smart skin med spa vip app. Yes. They get a glow peel.
[00:07:12] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:07:12] Speaker C: That's what y'all are throwing in, which is.
[00:07:13] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:07:13] Speaker A: So they're gonna get their glow up smoothie and then their glow pill.
[00:07:17] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:07:19] Speaker A: So. And I think, too, we were gonna offer a free diamond glow as well.
[00:07:23] Speaker C: So we're doing a giveaway.
[00:07:25] Speaker A: A giveaway for that. And so they will not only get the free glow pill for signing up for a rewards program, but then we're gonna do a drawing for somebody to win a diamond glow facial. And diamond glow is made by the makers of Allergan, who does botox.
[00:07:40] Speaker B: Perfect.
[00:07:41] Speaker A: So it's one of my favorite facial services that we offer at the spa. It does an infusion of a customized serum that we choose based on their skincare needs. It's a 30 minutes treatment, no downtime. Great for all skin types, great for all ages. You can see your little gunky jar when we finish the treatment to see all of the impurities that come out of the skin, and it just leaves you completely glowing after your treatment.
[00:08:08] Speaker C: True glow up.
[00:08:09] Speaker A: It is going to be the all encompassing glow up, for sure.
[00:08:13] Speaker B: And then our charity piece is going to be skin cancer foundation.
[00:08:17] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:08:17] Speaker B: So a dollar from every smoothie will go to that.
[00:08:19] Speaker A: They will love that. That's so awesome. I'll have to let my friends at color science know. Cause they're really big partners with the skin cancer foundation, so they'll be really excited, and hopefully they'll post about it, too.
[00:08:31] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:08:32] Speaker A: For their social media and get some hype around it.
[00:08:35] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:08:36] Speaker A: So what else do you guys see? Like, what are some of your other ideas of things that you're wanting to.
[00:08:43] Speaker B: Well, after this one, that'll be August for September, we're gonna do the Bama bowl. Sorry.
[00:08:48] Speaker A: Sorry.
[00:08:48] Speaker B: I'm Auburn fans, but we're gonna do the Bama bowl.
[00:08:51] Speaker A: We're partnering with three sages over there late. Yeah.
[00:08:54] Speaker B: Three Alabama cheerleaders are coming on board, and they're gonna. Well, we're still in the planning phase. We're hoping they're gonna come over and do, like, a little mini cheer clinic with the exceptional foundation. And that's gonna be our charity piece, and it's called the Bama bowl. It's gonna be red, white, I mean, red and white. And.
[00:09:12] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:09:13] Speaker B: Exceptional foundation will be the cause that we're supporting.
[00:09:15] Speaker A: Yeah. I love that. That's so fun. What about you?
[00:09:20] Speaker C: Oh, my goodness.
[00:09:21] Speaker A: So many things coming up with ideas.
[00:09:23] Speaker C: Yeah. So that's our September 1, which will be perfect. Cause it's in football season. October, we're doing breast cancer awareness. So we'll do our pumpkin spice latte with our espresso bar.
We've got a white Christmas smoothie, which always does great in December. And then we have this really awesome chocolate banana peanut butter. It's kind of like a chunky monkey smoothie. And it has activated charcoal in it, so it's really, really cool. It's black with coconut cream.
[00:09:53] Speaker A: Detox going on.
[00:09:55] Speaker C: Yeah. So we've got that coming up in January. And then, I'm sure, start over.
[00:09:59] Speaker B: Then we're going to reevaluate, like you said, which ones did well, and start all over with our same format. It works.
[00:10:07] Speaker A: I love that. So my favorites so far at Farm bowl, because I'm a frequent flyer over there.
I love the nutty professor acai bowl. That is my number one. Like, if I'm hungry, but I don't want to have anything too heavy, and I don't need anything too filling, I'll always have one of those. And then I also love y'all's coffee smoothie. What is that one?
[00:10:31] Speaker C: The coffee shop.
[00:10:31] Speaker B: The coffee shop.
[00:10:32] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh, it's so good. And I love, too, that y'all smoothies. All the smoothies are really good. And they aren't too sweet. Sometimes if you get a smoothie, it can, like, be a little overwhelming with the sweetness.
[00:10:44] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:10:45] Speaker A: And you also have, like, just the right amount of sweetness.
[00:10:47] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:10:48] Speaker B: Yep. And we just sweeten with honey. And actually, one of the things I want to do in the new year, we have so much content for the rest of the year. We can. But I want to do, like, an undercover smoothie, but not really try to hurt people's feelings. But I think if you went to our competitors and saw what's in it compared to what's in ours, like, the list of ingredients I just said is what's in there? It's just an orange. And sometimes when people say, I'm just gonna say panera bread. Cause they're big. Like, they say orange, but it's just like orange juice concentrate with all this other stuff. When we say orange, we are throwing a whole peeled orange in there. And so I think that's what makes them. You can tell the difference, the way they taste.
[00:11:24] Speaker A: Yeah. They're so much better for you.
[00:11:26] Speaker C: Yeah. Fresh produce.
[00:11:27] Speaker A: It's like a whole foods of smoothies.
[00:11:30] Speaker C: And that was one thing, too. Like, when you go to competitors, some of them are using fruits from a bag, whereas we are prepping all of our fruit fresh. We're cutting it all in house.
[00:11:41] Speaker A: And do you source all of your fruits and vegetables from local farmers? No. See, we're tropical.
[00:11:47] Speaker B: A lot of our things are tropical and can't be grown in Alabama. But the things that can be grown in Alabama, we get them when they're in season, so wheat grass, all of the honey for our bowls.
Beets, kale, spinach, the strawberries. You said the strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, just when they're in season.
[00:12:04] Speaker A: Like, do you guys tend to, like, go to different farmers to source your produce, or do you have, like, one or two that you have the same one?
[00:12:13] Speaker B: And we do a little deal with them at the beginning of the year to make it easy, and we don't have to think about it when they just call and say, hey, beets are in. I'll be bringing. And we already tell them the quantities that we want and everything.
[00:12:23] Speaker A: And so you guys are.
You own both urban cook house and farm bowl, and so you guys do that same thing with urban. I've noticed that when I go and eat there, that most of the ingredients that you guys have are purchased from local farmers, which I love.
[00:12:39] Speaker C: And, too, with farm bowl, something that I really like is we partner with a local coffee shop for their coffee beans, seeds. They're awesome. And so that's in the coffee shop smoothie that you drink instead of doing ice cubes, we do coffee cubes. So when it waters down, you're still getting that coffee and not a watered down smoothie. Yeah, but I like that. Cause, again, you're with another local company, and their coffee is incredible.
[00:13:05] Speaker A: Yeah, no, I've had y'all's coffee too. I've had the flat white. It's really good. And then there's, like, another maybe latte.
[00:13:15] Speaker C: That has my favorites in the honey cinnamon. Yes, the honey cinnamon.
[00:13:20] Speaker A: It was the honey cinnamon.
[00:13:21] Speaker C: Yep.
[00:13:21] Speaker A: It was really good.
[00:13:22] Speaker C: Yep. So we got all sorts of things. Espresso, bon.
[00:13:25] Speaker B: I like the mexican mocha. It's got cayenne pepper in it. Okay. I think because you sip it through, you know, like, a coffee lid, it doesn't really hit your tongue. It hits your throat.
[00:13:33] Speaker A: Yeah, it's good.
[00:13:34] Speaker B: It's just a chocolate. Like a mocha with cayenne pepper.
[00:13:37] Speaker A: I would be in so much trouble if I had a restaurant, because, like, I don't know that I could, like, be focused on setting a menu, because I would just want to do everything.
[00:13:47] Speaker C: That's how it feels. Sometimes when we're making these smoothies, to get the recipe right, sometimes we're making, like, 20 of the same smoothie and just adjusting one thing. I'm like, ah, this is too sweet. Let's take out the honey. And then we're like, ah, but now there's too much avocado. Let's do this. So we're making the same smoothie like 1520 times just to get it right.
[00:14:07] Speaker A: Oh, that's very similar with skincare.
So I don't know how familiar you all are with the formulation process of medical grade skincare, but they do thousands of different formulations to get down to the very one that's going to have the most efficacious result. Because there are different ingredients that are known to do certain things depending on what you're wanting to work on, but then making sure that you're pairing them with the right other ingredients to where they, like, play well together, because sometimes they'll counteract one another. So they have to make sure that they do all of these different evaluations of these skin formulation treatments to make sure that they're getting the best end result. So it's not like they're like, you know what? We want to have a skincare treatment that's going to moisturizer, and we're going to put these ingredients together and, like, put a label on it. And here you go. No, it's like years of R and D to get that perfect treatment regimen together for this skincare product. And then they test it and have to prove that what they're claiming that it does actually works with medical grade skincare. They can't just make claims. They have to actually, like, prove it to the FDA.
That's so cool.
[00:15:19] Speaker C: That's a lot.
[00:15:20] Speaker A: It's a lot.
[00:15:21] Speaker C: That feels like years worth of things.
[00:15:23] Speaker A: Yeah, but I mean, it's very similar with, like, creating recipe for a smoothie or for whatever. You have to, like, balance it out and make sure that those are, you know, the amounts that you're putting of each ingredient in is gonna give you the nice end result.
[00:15:37] Speaker B: We spent 30 minutes this morning trying to figure out why this coconut cream is runny.
Cause that's the pretty part, is like, it drips down the cup and now it's all runny. I think it's cause it's hot outside.
[00:15:47] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:15:48] Speaker B: And, like, the temperature of it when it sits out on the counter. So now we might have to start, like, freezing it for 2 hours. Like a whole thing.
[00:15:53] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Never ending.
So you told me that you and your husband do this together.
[00:15:59] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:15:59] Speaker A: That is so fun. What gave you guys the vision to create this brand?
[00:16:05] Speaker B: We worked for Zoe's kitchen when they were small. They probably used to be in your building. Actually, the original Zoe's. You might be in the original Zoey's.
[00:16:13] Speaker A: So ours was a bar.
[00:16:14] Speaker C: I think it was pastry art.
[00:16:16] Speaker A: They made?
[00:16:18] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:16:19] Speaker B: Yeah, it was right there.
[00:16:20] Speaker A: Pastry arts right over here.
[00:16:21] Speaker B: Yeah, maybe it's cowlicks. Anyway, yeah, they were right there. We worked for them. My husband, like, traveled all over the country, opened up their new stores, and then I. I worked as their catering manager for a little while. I worked there in college, and the whole goal when he started, he worked there right out of. After he got his MBA, was to be a Zoe's kitchen franchisee. Well, by the time we got to that point, we were ready. Like, the only territory left was Louisville, Kentucky, which is fine. We're going to move, and then just, you know, have this moment. Like, we're going to move to Kentucky. We're going to pay, you know, have to pay royalties and all this stuff, and we just felt that we had the creativity do our own thing, and we were just young and stupid enough and just felt like we had nothing to lose.
[00:17:05] Speaker C: Right.
[00:17:06] Speaker A: That makes the best entrepreneurs, though. Like, when you have nothing to lose, we're just gonna go for it.
[00:17:10] Speaker B: We have college degrees. We're confident if this doesn't work, we will get a job.
[00:17:14] Speaker C: Sure.
[00:17:14] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:17:15] Speaker C: And you had all the experience. Like, I think the whole thing about that story is not only did David know and manage the front of the house, and you did the catering, like, the people side of things, he also did back of the house stuff and learn Spanish and, like, just pieces that you don't realize are so important to the restaurant industry.
[00:17:32] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:17:32] Speaker B: You have different skill sets. Yeah, yeah.
[00:17:35] Speaker A: It was, like, the perfect blend. So you guys started with urban. Okay.
[00:17:39] Speaker B: And then when we originally moved, the Homewood location used to be on 18th street. Okay. We moved here to this huge building. We moved because we have our own parking lot, which is.
[00:17:50] Speaker A: You have to have it here, homewood.
[00:17:53] Speaker B: And we gained a drive through, so we have to do this move. This building is huge.
[00:17:58] Speaker A: Right?
[00:17:58] Speaker B: What else can we put in here?
[00:18:00] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:18:00] Speaker B: And so we came up with a concept we thought would complement it, but not compete with it. And then farm bowl was born.
[00:18:06] Speaker A: Yeah. Y'all sound like me and my mom.
We're like, we're gonna buy this huge building. What other business can we create out of nothing?
We're always, like, trying to come up with new business ventures.
[00:18:17] Speaker C: We love it.
[00:18:18] Speaker B: Yeah. I have. I have a hat line I want to do that I will never do because I don't have time.
[00:18:22] Speaker A: I have lots of ideas.
[00:18:23] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:18:24] Speaker A: Yeah. Well, so my mom's a visionary. She comes up with, like, all the, like, creative ideas, and I'm like, I'm the one who makes it happen.
[00:18:30] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:18:31] Speaker A: So we complement each other really well in that way that, like, she comes up with it, but she can't actually, like, figure out which ones are the. That.
Well, she could figure it out, but she. She needs me to do it.
[00:18:42] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:18:43] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:18:44] Speaker A: So. So you guys have urban and homewood.
[00:18:47] Speaker B: They have the summit.
[00:18:49] Speaker A: Summit.
[00:18:49] Speaker B: It's downtown Birmingham.
[00:18:50] Speaker A: Are you on Crestline still?
[00:18:52] Speaker B: No, that's a different owner. Okay. And then Tuscaloosa. Okay.
[00:18:56] Speaker A: And then just one farm bowl, or you have multiples.
[00:18:59] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:18:59] Speaker A: Do you think you'll do more?
[00:19:01] Speaker B: Yes, we're working on that right now. We're gonna be franchise ready in January. 2025.
[00:19:06] Speaker C: For Farm bowl?
[00:19:07] Speaker B: For Farm bowl.
[00:19:08] Speaker A: Awesome.
[00:19:09] Speaker B: So we are actively looking for franchisees all throughout the southeast and Texas. Okay.
[00:19:14] Speaker A: I love that.
We just signed a lease on our second location in Hoover.
[00:19:19] Speaker C: Fun. That's gonna be awesome.
[00:19:21] Speaker A: So we were gonna do the franchise route, but with our business model, it's a little trickier to do franchises because we.
I guess we're a little bit of control freaks. I don't know. We just, like. Yeah, but there's just. There's a lot of moving parts in the medical aesthetics. Yeah, I'm sure. I'm so.
So I actually, my brother and I both have background in restaurant industry. He works at frothy Monkey now as bar manager, and I worked at Cajun Steamer in Hoover for five years before I got into medical aesthetics.
[00:19:51] Speaker C: What were you doing there?
[00:19:53] Speaker A: I was bartender server, doing a little bit of, like, training for new staff.
[00:19:59] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:20:00] Speaker A: And then my brother in law is regional manager for Dunkin Donuts, and he was with Panera bread before that. And then Sage. What was the restaurant on Valley Dell Road that he used to own?
It was a seafood restaurant. You know, seafood restaurant on Valley Dell Road. And he sold it before he went to Panera. So lots of restaurant people. And my husband worked for him and introduced his sister to him, and that's how they got married. So he. My husband has restaurant background, too. Cool.
[00:20:32] Speaker C: I had never had a restaurant background until I interned with urban and farm bowl for college. And it was just so different than anything I've ever done, but in the best possible way.
[00:20:42] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:20:43] Speaker C: Like, it's chaotic. It's fast paced. There's always something new.
[00:20:46] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:20:46] Speaker C: You get to meet new people, which I love.
[00:20:49] Speaker A: Well, I feel like you're. You never get bored.
[00:20:51] Speaker C: Never.
[00:20:52] Speaker A: Because there's always something new to learn. There's always a fire. There's always a fire to be put out. Like yesterday, I think I was like, giving out numbers to staff. I was like, take a number.
[00:21:02] Speaker C: But then, which problem do you want?
[00:21:04] Speaker A: It's fun, though, because it's like someday days, there's. Everything runs smooth and perfectly, and some days you're like, where did this come from?
[00:21:09] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:21:11] Speaker A: So being in business for yourself is a lot of fun, but it has its own set of challenges, too. But I think that that is one of the reasons why I do love coming together and doing things like this and meeting like minded people in the industry that can say, like, I feel you deep in my soul, where you're at in life right now, and I'm right there, too.
So it's really fun to be able to connect with other business owners in this community and do things together and help each other and support our dreams and our goals and what we're doing, and while also giving back to, you know, different foundations and creating awareness around those as well.
[00:21:52] Speaker B: Yep. Glad y'all moved in across the street. How long have y'all been there now?
[00:21:56] Speaker A: We've been at this location for going on four years, and we were on Oxmore road for five before that, and we were in crestline for ten and cahawba heights for ten.
[00:22:04] Speaker C: Whoa.
[00:22:05] Speaker B: And just consolidated them all. Yeah, everything over there.
[00:22:08] Speaker A: We had a little pop up in Gus Meyer for a year, so we took Gus Meyer, Crestline, and homewood on Oxmoor. We moved them into this bigger space where we're at right now.
[00:22:17] Speaker C: Okay. That's awesome.
[00:22:19] Speaker A: Mm hmm.
[00:22:20] Speaker C: And then Hoover.
[00:22:21] Speaker A: Now. Now hoover. Exciting.
[00:22:23] Speaker C: When is that opening?
[00:22:24] Speaker A: Probably mid, late October.
[00:22:27] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:22:27] Speaker A: And then next up will be most likely, like, huntsville, fair hope, and then outside of the state from there. Cool is the goal.
[00:22:37] Speaker C: That's awesome.
[00:22:38] Speaker B: So you're gonna try to operate them yourself and not franchise if you're going.
[00:22:42] Speaker A: I'll hire managers for each location, and then I'll oversee all of them. So I'm like, Bailey, I need you to graduate high school, so.
[00:22:53] Speaker C: And then your daughters work for you?
[00:22:54] Speaker A: Yes. So my oldest is 17. She'll be a senior this year. She's apprenticing to get her aesthetic license. She'll be licensed as an esthetician. Before she graduates, she does a co op. So she leaves school early to work with us, and then all summer long. And then my middle daughter is 13, and she will either work for us or start her own business and beat the competition. We're not really sure yet.
[00:23:20] Speaker C: The jury's out. That's Isabella?
[00:23:22] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:23:23] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:23:24] Speaker A: She's a creative one, like, well, Bailey is me in a tiny body. And then Isabella is like some crazy mixture between my mom, my brother, and somebody I don't know.
[00:23:40] Speaker B: I have two daughters. They're eleven and 13. They say they do not want to own their own business. Well, Ruby, the 13 year old, wants to be an event planner in this town that has 125 people. So that's her business sense.
[00:23:53] Speaker C: It's called pineapple, Alabama.
[00:23:55] Speaker B: We also have a farm in pineapple, Alabama.
[00:23:57] Speaker A: That's so cute.
[00:23:58] Speaker B: So my husband's side hustle, he's a cattle farmer.
[00:24:01] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:24:01] Speaker B: And then I sell plant based foods.
[00:24:04] Speaker C: So make it make sense.
[00:24:07] Speaker B: But it's the cutest little town. But like Ruby says, I want to be an event planner and pineapple.
[00:24:12] Speaker C: Imagine Schitt's Creek. It's like that. It is Schitt's Creek in Alabama.
[00:24:17] Speaker B: There's characters everywhere. I mean, she can make it work. There's cute little churches, there's barns. But she wants me to do the business side, and she just wants to.
[00:24:24] Speaker A: Do the fun stuff. Yeah, she wants you to do all the worrying and the stressing out town.
[00:24:28] Speaker B: That'S got 125 people with nowhere to stay. So we'll see how that goes.
[00:24:30] Speaker A: Well, Isabella told me that her spa, she was gonna name it mango glow. So that would have been very fitting with our orange smoothie. Orange smoothie that we've got going on coming August 1. So this podcast will launch a week or so before the launch of the smoothie. And so our listeners can tell me your address.
[00:24:54] Speaker C: We're 1920 29th Avenue south in downtown Homewood, right across from the Aloft hotels.
[00:25:01] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:25:02] Speaker B: Caddy corner.
[00:25:03] Speaker A: Caddy corner from smart skin. When I'm on our little patio, where all the famous pots are, we can.
[00:25:08] Speaker C: See farm bowl, our famous mural.
