[00:00:20] Speaker A: Hey, this is Lacey with Smartcast, and I'm joined today with Dr. Jody. We just got back from the masterclass with Amp for the DermaPRP, and we're just going to talk a little bit about our experience this weekend with the training and what you can expect from this new service being launched at Smartskin. Thank you for joining me today, Dr. Jody. [00:00:39] Speaker B: You're very welcome, Lacey. [00:00:41] Speaker A: So tell me a little bit about your expectations from this weekend and what you learned and what you're most excited about for this new product line. [00:00:49] Speaker B: Sure. So I was really excited to kind of see and kind of get my hands on this DermaPrp, which is the autologous filler. So we draw patients blood, we spin it down, we get the platelet rich and platelet poor plasma that separates on top. We then remove the platelet poor plasma, put it in a little heater, it creates kind of a gel matrix, and then you can mix it with the PRP or the platelet rich plasma to create your own customized filler. And so that was really neat to be able to see and be able to inject. And I think it's going to be a real game changer as aesthetics moves forward. [00:01:33] Speaker A: Yeah, I love the fact that the biologics are becoming more available for patients these days. And someone who, like, say, for instance, I was just talking to one of our reps that I know has an autoimmune disease, that she can't really get dermal fillers. And this would be a perfect option for her to be able to use this, especially in her tear chops and things like that. So she was really excited to learn more about this product. And I think, too, that it's really interesting. I know easy gel has been around for a while and a lot of people were using that. And from what I understood this weekend, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that they took everything that they have come to know and love about easy gel and they just made it even better and that the results are lasting longer than the easy gel was lasting for them. So they're treating, and then 30 to 45 days later, they're doing a touch up treatment, and then they're seeing anywhere from nine to twelve months of longevity after that. And in addition to the volume that they're seeing, they're also seeing blood flow. They're going to see collagenesis in the area and just overall collagen and elastin production in the overall skin. And that beautiful pink natural glow to your skin as well. [00:02:46] Speaker B: Absolutely. You're right on with that. I think especially for areas like the tear troughs, which so many women come and complain about, like, oh, I just look tired all the time. I've never seen anything work as well for discoloration as PRP. And to have something that's in a gel matrix that can last up to a year, I think is really going to be a game changer. The fact that with all of the growth factors in the platelets, you get angiogenesis, which will help bring more blood supply, then that's really going to help the discoloration there. And same with lips. I mean, for women who've been getting their lips filled with an ha filler for 510 years, some of the natural pink coloring to that kind of disappears after a while. [00:03:39] Speaker A: I know mine has. [00:03:40] Speaker B: Yeah. And so by using the dermaperp in the lips, it's going to restore that natural blush color. [00:03:47] Speaker A: Yeah. I loved that Dr. Anne Whitewood, who got to be our instructor for our breakaway masterclass session. After talks, Josh drew my blood, which was such a treat. I love him. She was saying, now, you're not going to get really volume from this. It's going to give you more of a gloss and a blush. And I love that because I already had some pretty good volume from my previous ha filler that I've had for almost going on a year now, but just giving that little bit of extra gloss, and then as the weeks go on and that blood flow starts to restore, I think they're going to be perfect. I'm really excited, and I'm very excited, too, about the tear trough that we did on me, too, because I was the lucky one who got to be all's model this weekend. And tear troughs for me, especially dark circles from allergies and things like that. So I'm really looking forward to the benefits of seeing that discoloration kind of go away and just a softening underneath my eyes and around my crow's feet, too. I think it's going to really help soften that area as well. [00:04:52] Speaker B: Absolutely. [00:04:53] Speaker A: And then for what is the area that you guys treated? [00:04:57] Speaker B: The pre ericular area right in front of the ear. [00:05:00] Speaker A: Okay, so we've been treating my masseters for a while for clenching, and so did we do that just because that muscle is kind of softened and we needed to build more structure, or did I just have natural hollowing there? [00:05:13] Speaker B: You had a little bit of natural hollowing, and it may be just because you have very prominent cheekbones, and as we age, we lose volume, and that just is something that sort of happens. And you'll see it a lot with thinner women. If they lose volume in their face, they start almost getting a shelf where their cheekbone is. And it almost starts looking like a maleficent from Cinderella or sleeping beauty. But by adding just a little bit of volume back there, you retain the natural thinness of your face. But it just kind of rejuvenates everything. The other thing I like about the derma PRP is the fact that you get all of the benefits of the PRP with it. So you get the glow that you would see from that or from peptides. You kind of had that whole resurfacing effect too. So I think this is really going to be a rejuvenation treatment, not just. [00:06:17] Speaker A: An injectable, which I think is going to be fantastic. And let's talk about volume. So the fact that what you guys did on me would have been equivalent to what did we determine? [00:06:28] Speaker B: Like six syringes of fillers of an HS. [00:06:30] Speaker A: So the amount of treat to complete that you can get with this service will be. [00:06:38] Speaker B: And it's going to be much more cost effective for patients. Absolutely. More patients are going to be able to afford it. They're going to have more natural looking results, which is what people want in the first place. They don't want overfilled faces, which can happen with an ha. And you're going to get more bang for your buck, right? [00:06:55] Speaker A: You're not going to be restricted. Well, do I want to correct my cheeks or my chin or my jawline or my tear troughs or my lips? Because of a budget restriction now they'll be able to treat all of those areas at one time and get that full comprehensive result. [00:07:10] Speaker B: Sure. [00:07:12] Speaker A: So the treatment options are endless. You can treat tear troughs, you can treat cheeks, you can treat preuricular mandibles. You say hollows. Hollows, chins, lips, hands, earlobes. [00:07:26] Speaker B: We can do full facial balancing in one single treatment. And have the patient still look like themselves when they leave? [00:07:32] Speaker A: Yes. And it's not going to be like you said, they're going to look like a refreshed version of themselves. We're not augmenting their overall look. We're softening and euthanizing their overall appearance to bring them back to where they were. So I think that that's a really nice thing that our patients are looking for these days, is they're not looking to change their overall look. They're looking to just restore what they had before. [00:08:01] Speaker B: And similar to biosimulatory fillers. The results are just going to keep getting better because you add those growth factors from those platelets and because we are able to create this gel matrix, we're going to get instant volume or instant results. But then they're going to continue to improve over time as those growth factors really kick in and we get more collagenesis and neovascularization. Yeah. [00:08:30] Speaker A: And I love, too, that they said that you're not going to have that bell effect where it's like not good, then great, and it goes down again and then it kind of goes back up again. You're going to continuously have that volume. [00:08:41] Speaker B: The entire time and you'll never go back to what your before picture it looks like. [00:08:47] Speaker A: Right. I think they said that there was a 4% dip in the volume from day one to day 30 or 45, and then they retreat again to get the full nine to twelve months after that. And then after that, like anything else, it's just maintenance. And I did love to. Cute little missy. I love her. She was one of the speakers at the Arizona owner summit, and I got to have her on the podcast, and she's fantastic. [00:09:14] Speaker B: But she was one of the speakers. [00:09:16] Speaker A: This weekend as well. And she just said there's no restrictions you can treat with DermaPRP from head to toe. [00:09:21] Speaker B: Absolutely. [00:09:22] Speaker A: There's nowhere off limits. Yeah, we got to experience a BBL. [00:09:26] Speaker B: I was just going to bring that up. That was, I think, very exciting because we just started offering the radies BBL in our office and just learning different techniques on how to do that and really address problem areas on patients booties. But we learned that we can also create, essentially a brazilian butt lift with DermaPRP as well. And similar, you get instant volume, but then you also get the PRP effects that last much longer than that. Yeah. [00:09:59] Speaker A: So this one's still a newer technique, so they're still in the learning curve of determining how long the results are going to last. How long does it take to see the full benefits of it? But the before and after photos from the model that they did at the conference just for the hip dips were pretty significant, immediate results. So I'm really excited. [00:10:20] Speaker B: And the texture as well. [00:10:22] Speaker A: Yeah, she treated some dimpling, some cellulite that she had on her. She was the cutest, bravest little model to get up there in her thong underwear and her sports bra in front of 150 people. But she was so cute and good for her for getting up there. But they tricked us. They made us hold out to the very last minute and they did that at the very end of the day. So we had to stay and wait because that was definitely one of the things that we wanted to see, to compare and see what that option would look like for our patients as well. So I am very curious to see how that looks in 30, 45 days and how long it lasts after that. [00:11:02] Speaker B: Hopefully, Missy Gibbons will put an updated photo another month or two. [00:11:08] Speaker A: I'm sure she will. What else did you learn at the conference that really stood out in your mind? I know Dr. Irma had said that this was one of the first conferences that were medical device related and did the combination therapy with injectables and devices together. And the devices are things that we have here in our. [00:11:33] Speaker B: Know, just. Just like we always say, your injectables are only going to be as good as your skincare. It's the same with any other services. So for maintenance, doing the scarlet, in addition to during DermaPRP, silly, you restore the volume, but then you also are doing the micro needling with radio frequency to kind of boost that collagenesis and really help resurface any textural issues that are there. I think that's a great combination. I think Dr. Ann Watwood did a combination of the Agnes and the Scarlet. And I think that would be. I mean, if we eventually bring in the Agnes to our practice, I think that would be a great combination as well, being able to do, like a non surgical blepharoplasty or a non surgical neck lift using that, because there are things that we can do now with PDO threads, but the problem with that is that you can't do radio frequency after them for six months. And the same goes with the DermaPRP. She said if you do the DermaPrP first, you can do PDO threads within two to three weeks. But if you do the threads first and then the PRP, you're limited on that, and you really should wait four to six months. But, yeah, I think just all the energy based devices are great, and I think they'll be great in combination. Being able to kind of tighten and firm with the energy based modalities and then add volume back and contour with the DermaPRp. [00:13:15] Speaker A: Yeah, that's one of the things that I had talked to Dr. Irma about this weekend as well, is that we kind of had a little bit of a leg up in that we started our business skincare based, and we just recently brought in the injectable side to the business about seven years ago. So we have a really great foundation on our skincare, and that's always been the forefront of our business model. And so now we're able to just kind of add the icing on the cake with the injectables and just enhance their overall results. And they've got such a great regimen going already with their at home skincare and their in office treatments, and now being able to add in toxins and fillers and collagen regenerators and things like that. And now there's hydrating treatments and stuff, too. So they're just able to kind of add those little final details and touches onto their skincare regimen just to take their journey to the next level. [00:14:08] Speaker B: Absolutely. And as I mentioned before, I really feel like this is the direction that aesthetics is moving more towards regenerative medicine, more rejuvenation, a lot more biostimulatory products, and a lot to do with autologous products like PRP, something that you're not going to have a reaction to because it came from your own blood. So I just really see the future moving away from the overdone look to looking more natural and just rejuvenating. [00:14:39] Speaker A: Yeah, I agree. And even with the synthetic things, our patients are demanding a cleaner product, and our patients are demanding more. I mean, we're seeing that even with the introduction of Daxi and the peptides that are coming in it. And you're not just getting a toxin to paralyze the muscles now you're also getting peptide stimulation with your. I mean, that's what I have right now. And I love the Daxi. I think I get great results from it. And we also got to take a little tour of their headquarters in Nashville. We met and had lunch and then walked across the street and got a tour of the revamp studio. Mary Margaret and I were fortunate enough to be able to check out their 20th floor when we were there for scale last year. But now Dr. Jody and I got to go and see the new addition of the 19th and half the 18th floor. And it's a beautiful space. [00:15:29] Speaker B: Yeah, it's a gorgeous place. I could be a paper pusher, pencil pusher, if I could work there. [00:15:35] Speaker A: I could be the guy who hands out the coffee to people, for sure. [00:15:38] Speaker B: I mean, snacks everywhere. Just a beautiful aesthetic and very stimulating for the creative mind, which is, I think, what they were kind of going, the purpose. [00:15:49] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:15:50] Speaker B: But, yeah, that was a very special private tour that we had. I appreciated that. [00:15:57] Speaker A: That was fun. And then I love, too, like you, just seeing the space that they have created for the injectors to be able to do classes and film all of that and send that out to their team and use that for education purposes, and the stage that they have to bring in people for talks, and their boardroom, where they have their earnings calls. And we even got to see their new little podcast room, which was really cute, and I was like, gosh, I wish you guys were closer. We'd come to your podcast there and have the little background looked like they were in a newsroom. That was cute. And I just love the little details of everything in there. I told the tour guide that they just really remind me of our partners with color science. Just the attention to detail and focus on the little things and just making everything make sense, and everything has a purpose. And I just think that it's a really great space for their team members to all come in together and not have them all over the place in the different hotels, but have somewhere that feels more like home, and it feels more comfortable for everybody to get together and learn from each other and grow and build the company. And I feel like that's an extension of our brand, too, so they make me proud to be partners with them. [00:17:16] Speaker B: Absolutely. [00:17:21] Speaker A: What else stands out to you from this past weekend and what all we got to do was short and sweet weekend. It was kind of nice. Normally, our conferences are like a Friday night, all day Saturday, half a day Sunday. We got to get up, sleep in Sunday, and drink our coffee and take our time and hit the road back home. [00:17:43] Speaker B: But, yeah, I just think the time management of the whole conference was perfect. I mean, it wasn't too many activities going on. It was just one full day of activities and split up with breaks and demos, and I got to try their aqua firm facial, which is great, because being pregnant, there's only so many things. [00:18:08] Speaker A: That I can do. [00:18:09] Speaker B: But that was very relaxing, and I appreciated that. Yeah. [00:18:16] Speaker A: I think it was really fun, too, how they integrated the hands on portion into it as well, and doing the three rounds of that and having, like, six physicians in each round, and every physician had a master educator overseeing what they were doing and giving those helpful hints and things that they do versus things that it's taught on label. So being able to kind of customize. [00:18:42] Speaker B: It a little bit more. And all models are different, too. So it was this period of an hour and a half, 2 hours, where you're injecting for one third of that and assessing your patient, and then the other portion of that time, you could just wander around and observe other people injecting and see different techniques and different assessments, and how would you approach this and why a cannula versus a needle and all of that? And I think that was a great education opportunity. [00:19:11] Speaker A: Yeah. And as always, the conferences are always about making connections and getting to meet new people from different areas and how they're practicing and what they're doing and what they're seeing in their areas. And it was fun. We got to run into your friend. [00:19:26] Speaker B: Yes, my friend Andrea, who's down in Perdido Key. You met her? I met her at an in mode conference last year, and we've just stayed in touch and we kind of bounce ideas off each other, ask each other questions. It's really great to be a woman supporting other women. [00:19:46] Speaker A: Absolutely. [00:19:46] Speaker B: And just really, I mean, it's a true collaboration at that point. [00:19:53] Speaker A: So for some reason, I was thinking you met her at the BBL. [00:19:59] Speaker B: She was there, too. [00:20:00] Speaker A: Oh, she was. [00:20:00] Speaker B: She was, yeah. Okay. But I had initially met her back in the early part of last year. [00:20:05] Speaker A: That's so fun. I love it whenever you go to conferences that you get to run into your friends from other. It's like a reunion. [00:20:11] Speaker B: It is. It really is. [00:20:12] Speaker A: It's like a happy surprise. So fun. Do we know when we will have pricing available for the new DermaPrP? [00:20:23] Speaker B: I'm thinking, let's see, we have our in service coming up with Eric, our rep, in a couple weeks, and I think between now and then we'll come up with pricing for that. [00:20:33] Speaker A: Pricing? Yeah. But I mean, it's a great option to layer in combination with radius hyperdilute. [00:20:42] Speaker B: Absolutely. [00:20:42] Speaker A: It's a great combination to add in with even your regular dermal fillers, just because there's going to be so many additional areas you can treat with it, and it's going to give you so many additional added benefits besides just volume. [00:20:59] Speaker B: Absolutely. [00:21:00] Speaker A: So I'm really excited about adding this into our practice, and I think the timing of it is great. I think it's going to be very well received by our patients, especially because there have been zero reports of vascular occlusion, zero reports of late onset nodules. I think it's a very safe and effective product. [00:21:27] Speaker B: I agree. [00:21:29] Speaker A: So I think it'll be really good. This weekend, my mom and I will be traveling to Kansas City to speak at a conference for other business owners. So we'll definitely have more to discuss next week in regards to what all we learned this been, this will be my third or fourth conference with lifted logic and clutch consulting. Clutch consulting may have a representative there this weekend. But Sam's actually going to be at the BTL conference in Alabama, so we're going to be trading places. I'll be going to Kansas City and he'll be coming to Bama. So I hate that. I'll miss Sam. I love him. He's fantastic. I assume that he will have someone from his team there at the conference, but this is the first time that I brought my mom with me and they have upped my speaking time from 15 minutes to 40. So I'm glad that she's coming with me to take up some of that time. [00:22:24] Speaker B: No problem with that. [00:22:25] Speaker A: She won't. She will have something to talk about for 40 minutes, I'm sure. So she is going to come with me and she's really excited because I picked Sam's brain and said, where do you stay when you go to Kansas City? And Sam was like, well, I think they sent an email with places to go. And I was, no, no. We are hotel snobs just like you. [00:22:48] Speaker B: Where do you stay when you're there? [00:22:50] Speaker A: And he quickly gave me a recommendation that I looked up and I was like, nailed it. [00:22:54] Speaker B: That is it. [00:22:54] Speaker A: I knew I could count on you, Sam. So he was like, I got you, no worries. So we're going to go there. And then our friend Byron from Ravique, who has been doing our software development program, he is going to be in Kansas City this weekend as well. So I'm excited to connect with him. And he showed me some new developments with the membership program and everything with the software company. So I'm really excited about starting to merge everything over to that here shortly. And it's been a long time coming and we're excited to kind of have some progress with that. And we've been soft launching it for the injectable side of things. Yeah, they are going to be swapping over their terminals to a new terminal, so Gracie and Peyton will be excited about. [00:23:40] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:23:42] Speaker A: So. Well, thank you so much for joining us on today's episode of Smartcast. And we'll be back next week with more information about our visit to Kansas City. Thanks and have a great day.
