[00:00:20] Speaker A: Hey, this is Lacey with smartcast. And I have with me today Amber and Taylor. We just got back from Arizona from the Clear Skin institute with AMP, learning a little bit more about our scarlet. And so the girls got to learn lots of tips and tricks and advanced techniques. And so we're going to share with you today what we learned.
[00:00:42] Speaker B: So happy to be here.
[00:00:43] Speaker A: Yeah. So tell me, girls, what was your main takeaway from this past week?
[00:00:51] Speaker B: Definitely, for me, at least, the best practices on how to do the consultations of who would really be the best, and especially with the different areas of the body, just kind of how to test to see how we can look at different factors and where we can adjust in our actual treatment so the clients get the most benefit out of that treatment as well.
[00:01:21] Speaker A: Taylor, what about you? Yeah.
[00:01:24] Speaker C: I would probably have to agree with Amber on probably the biggest takeaway because I think that's such an important factor in basically deciding if a treatment is good for someone. You really need to know the parameters and what all that machine can do for them or what will it do for them and how many treatments is it going to take. So I feel like with going to see them, I mean, we've had good results with Scarlet. They've had amazing results with Scarlet. So really just kind of getting their parameters as to, like Amber said, how you can test the skin, maybe how many treatments, stuff like that, just to kind of, I guess, gauge it a little bit better and also learn what else we can do on the body. Because I feel like here we've really just been doing more like face, neck, chest, but we got to experiment with scars, lifting booties, lifting boobies. I don't know. We want to say that arms shrink.
[00:02:20] Speaker A: Wrapping above the knee, going a little bit deeper into the hairline when you're wrapping around the neck. So I just think that it's a really great experience for you guys to be able to do some hands on with people that have been doing this for a really long time and getting those pearls that they've gotten, that they've learned along the way by accident, she said, on a lot of them, which is a lot of the ways that we've been able to develop our own advanced protocols and different treatment modalities that we have. I mean, there have been times that we used to have a device called smooshapes that the company would reach back out to us and want us to train their new providers because we were doing treatment protocols completely different than they were, and we were getting fantastic results. And so that's just kind of the way that it works sometimes. It's just whenever you have such high volume and you kind of test things out a little bit differently, and you accidentally find ways to improve upon the current parameters. And that's why treatment modalities are continuously changing and evolving as we do them and we learn.
[00:03:25] Speaker C: Yeah, I think I was really shocked the most when I realized that you didn't have to go that deep into the skin to get such an amazing result. And I think the protocol books, obviously, the machine goes really deep, but you.
[00:03:40] Speaker A: Don'T have to do that necessary.
[00:03:41] Speaker C: Yeah, exactly. Which is probably less painful to the client as well, too.
[00:03:46] Speaker A: The cutest thing was, you guys got to go to the first day of class, and then we found out that not everybody showed up to the class that were enrolled in it, and so they let me sneak in. But you guys came into the hotel after your first day, and just, like, the look of excitement on your faces, and you're like, okay, we have to talk.
You guys were just so excited to unpack everything that you had learned that day and just being able to talk to Dr. Anne, Larry, and their experiences and what all they were kind of showing you. Even though they're layering in one of the services, Agnes, that we don't have, you're able to take that and kind of incorporate it in with some of the services that we do offer.
[00:04:29] Speaker C: Here at Scarlet, we definitely got more education, I would say not just on scarlet, but maybe on other things as well. That is just helpful in the field in general.
[00:04:40] Speaker A: And plus, it's fun to be able to interact with other practices that were there in the training with us as well, and bounce ideas, and we could share with them our best practices and what's working well for us and other things that they were asking that even the instructors didn't know the answers to. So it's really fun to build that community that you can really help elevate each other and to grow and help each other in your knowledge of all areas.
[00:05:06] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely.
[00:05:08] Speaker A: So tell me, day two, you guys got tons of hands on experience.
Like we said, we treated scarring. We treated lifting a booty. We did around the arms. We did lifting, like, a breast lift. Which of those areas were you most impressed with, like, immediate result from?
[00:05:30] Speaker B: Honestly, the breast lift was pretty significant, and part of that is a little bit of the swelling. But like I said, it was very significant difference. And I know, at least for me, I'm excited to try some of these. I know we were all like, okay, if you walk up and there's a locked room, but I think that one was really great. And even, like, the above the knee, I know that that's a big one, especially coming up on summer and everything. I feel like I saw a pretty instantaneous change with that and learning how.
[00:06:06] Speaker A: Far up the leg that you really need to start, depending on the laxity in the patient and the laxity in the skin, like the little tips that you were given on lifting the face to see how much lift you could get and knowing whether or not they would be a candidate for Scarlet. Or are they going to be a candidate for something a little bit more invasive?
[00:06:23] Speaker B: Absolutely. And that was some of what we had taken away that we just didn't have, like you said, those little pearls or those little nuggets to really help us to make sure that we're maximizing everything for the client's benefit.
[00:06:34] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, we've always been very high volume with Scarlet. I think we do on average, like 50 a month, and we've had it for going on two years now, I believe. So. We've done a lot of treatments.
[00:06:47] Speaker B: Everybody there was really impressed, I think, with what we've got going on here. That was nice.
[00:06:52] Speaker A: Yes. But I think that it's really a great feeling when you can really fine tune those results and get an even more incredible outcome than what we've even been getting so far. And it really reminds me a lot, like I was telling you, girls on the trip, is our ulthera, and how customized you can get with the ulthera and the results that they're getting and really tailoring that specifically to your patient to make sure that you can. Even with the breast lift, they taught you guys how to lift in it and how to make the nipples even?
[00:07:25] Speaker C: Yeah, absolutely.
[00:07:26] Speaker A: So it's very customizable.
You can really make a big difference in the skin, the brow lifts and the jowls and wrapping around the arms. I mean, it's like a shrink wrap.
[00:07:39] Speaker B: Yeah, it's amazing. It's exciting stuff, too.
[00:07:42] Speaker C: I know. I told Carmen the other day, I said, come on, we're going to do your arms.
[00:07:47] Speaker A: She was probably all about it.
So we saw a lot of the models using pronox, too. So were they using a numbing cream that wasn't lasting as long? Like, what was the purpose behind? Was it just because they were doing such a long treatment? Because they were body treatments and face.
[00:08:07] Speaker C: I think it was just for the booty, because that's just a really sensitive area. She had scarring. Yeah, she had really deep scarrings.
[00:08:19] Speaker B: I think it can also help with your anxiety if you are more prone to having those anxieties or if it's your first time, just to make sure that you're kept comfortable throughout the procedure.
It does help it to be a little bit more tolerable, just depending on everybody's pain tolerance is different, but, yeah.
[00:08:40] Speaker C: I would say it's not the most comfortable depending on what you're doing, but I don't think it's the most. Not exciting.
[00:08:46] Speaker B: I'm a big baby. You can ask anybody, and you can definitely tolerate it. But I've thought I might use some pronox. But again, it just helps to keep it much more comfortable.
[00:08:59] Speaker A: You told me you're going to be hitting the pronouns on your next.
[00:09:03] Speaker B: We do that new eyelid technique.
[00:09:04] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:09:07] Speaker B: And even with the pain of the scarlet, it's such a short period of time. Like, scarlet is a nice, in my opinion, pretty quick. It is quick procedure.
[00:09:19] Speaker A: But either way.
[00:09:19] Speaker B: You have options as far as keeping yourself nice and comfortable.
[00:09:23] Speaker A: I think, too, it's very beneficial that you guys were able to see such a wide range of models.
[00:09:29] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:09:30] Speaker A: Being able to see their different responses and how their skin responds to the treatment and seeing the delayed response on some people and how not to over treat and the different techniques and lip lifts and how far down you can go on the eyelids now.
So some of these little fine tuned things that you can add into your current practice that you're doing right now. How many scarlets have you guys done a scarlet this week since we've been back?
[00:10:02] Speaker B: Not yet.
[00:10:05] Speaker A: Really excited. Spring break is next week.
[00:10:07] Speaker C: Scarlett schedule is a little slim this week.
[00:10:09] Speaker A: I know that that's. I haven't been driving you guys crazy.
[00:10:11] Speaker C: Yeah, I have a couple coming up. I know, but I haven't been able to dive in this week.
[00:10:17] Speaker A: Yeah, I knew it was going to be, like, one of two ways. I felt like after all of the models that you guys worked on this past week, either you're going to be like, I never want to see a scarlet for the next month, or you were going to be like, heck, yeah. I can't wait to get in there and treat and put my new practices to work and see what happens.
[00:10:33] Speaker B: Yeah, I can't wait. I had been talking to some clients that are doing a series of scarlet and telling them that I was going to be going in training, and they're like, wait, what else are you learning?
So I'm excited to use some of those techniques on those clients.
[00:10:48] Speaker C: It's definitely a game changer. I think everyone is going to be, I would say, probably even more happy with their results doing them now. You know what I'm saying? Because we have those. I mean, it's great that the industry is always improving, right? There's always new technology, new techniques, stuff like that. So it's amazing that you guys even allowed us to go to even learn that and bring it back here for everyone so we can kind of provide that. But I just feel like our scarlets are about to be next level.
[00:11:17] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm really excited.
[00:11:19] Speaker A: So have you guys had an opportunity to share what you learned with any of the other new staff? Like, were they excited? What was their mindset about learning what you guys got to experience this past week? Or were they just really sad that they didn't get to join us?
[00:11:35] Speaker B: I think both, for sure.
[00:11:37] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:11:37] Speaker B: Everyone's asked us how it went, what have we learned and everything. And so we've been able to kind of touch on that. We haven't been able to go in depth, but I'm excited to be able to take some time and kind of sit down with everybody, but just kind of telling them, like, we've learned some techniques that we really think will just really kind of amp up and build upon what we've already been doing. So excited to go more in depth with them about that.
[00:12:03] Speaker C: Yeah, I had a couple of people ask. They were like, how was it? Or anything like that? And I shared a little bit, I think, with a couple of people just kind of like the depths that we were at in the skin. I think they were shocked. They were like, what?
[00:12:16] Speaker A: You only went that deep?
[00:12:18] Speaker C: And I was like, yes. And it was amazing.
[00:12:20] Speaker A: Yeah. So what were you saying? You were telling me something that Larry had told you all about. Know, of course, they're using ultrasound to treat pretreat or to view the skin before Agnes, to make sure that they were a candidate for bless. But they were saying, too, that you could use ultrasound to check the depth of the skin tissue, even for scarlet. Is that right?
[00:12:42] Speaker C: Yeah. So, of course, on your body, I think essentially what he was saying. So on different areas, your collagen level, essentially the place that we want to target to boost that collagen is at a different depth per each body part. And so essentially, he was just saying how we could honestly use ultrasound to figure out exactly where on a person, on a client, where their actual depth is, on what we're treating, to know that we are essentially going to get there every single time to target, which.
[00:13:20] Speaker A: Is what we do with ulthera exactly. Using the deep sea transducer to find out exactly where we need to treat which transducer we need to use per area. And that's why it is so customizable and we're able to really hone in on the specific depth that we're working on, and we can certainly use that in other treatment modalities, too.
[00:13:41] Speaker C: Yeah, I agree.
[00:13:43] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:13:44] Speaker A: I think that one of the biggest benefits of Scarlett too, is that in comparison to all the other microneedling with radio frequency devices on the market, not only are you going to get that amazing outcome that you do with the strongest microneedling, radio frequency devices, but it's the most comfortable on the market, too. And it's all within the mechanism of action and how those needles are going into the skin. And it's just a very smooth transition between the treatment and whenever it's retracted out to move to the next space. And then you pair that with exosomes, that's the next level treatment result. So they talked to you guys, too, about exosomes.
Did they teach you anything that you didn't already know about exosomes? Like what was the general consensus of exosomes? I know that their local rep came out and shared, dropped a little bit of knowledge on you guys. I think that our rep, we give him a run for his money. I think our rep kind of is really great, knows his stuff. We'll give a shout out to Eric race. He's awesome. The biologics department from amp.
But anything new that you guys didn't already know?
[00:15:02] Speaker C: I don't really think so.
[00:15:03] Speaker B: Really. I think it's kind of exciting, though, going to an event like this. I realize how ahead of the game we are, how well we really are doing. I just want to give smart skin a little bit of a pat on the back because I feel like we walk in there and we're like, we've been doing this for a while, you know what I mean?
[00:15:24] Speaker A: And sometimes that's helpful. You might get one or two little nuggets out of it that you can take, and it'll end up making a compounded interest in future growth. But a lot of times it's just reassurance that you're on the right track. You've been doing good, you've been making a lot of great decisions, and it's just a little bit of a reassurance that you're nailing it.
[00:15:45] Speaker C: Yeah, for sure.
[00:15:47] Speaker B: So then, yeah, it was really a reassurance to.
[00:15:50] Speaker A: Yeah, well, what's fun for me is that before we even went on this trip, because of a lot of the things that are changing in Alabama, I've been kind of set out on a mission to create a advanced trainer program to where we can work with our medical device companies and get a few people on our staff certified to certify new people. And that way it can help our medical device companies as well. Because as they become overwhelmed with the new estheticians and nurses and NPs in the state that need to be certified, they can't take on that extra load. And now we'll be able to potentially go in and help resolve some of that. And so I wanted to make it a win win situation for both us and for them. But now I want to do our own school, I want to do our own advanced clinical training education, and I want to work with medical device companies and skincare companies and be able to provide those advanced master classes and just make the overall industry better.
[00:16:52] Speaker C: Absolutely. I agree.
[00:16:53] Speaker B: I love that kind of stuff.
[00:16:55] Speaker A: That's so fun and energizing to me.
[00:16:58] Speaker C: It was fun. It was very refreshing.
[00:17:00] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:17:01] Speaker C: To kind of do that. I think it gives a sense of security a little bit and like, oh, my gosh, okay, we're doing everything right. And I think it just kind of gives whoever goes to it just a sense of, like, I know that I can do this and I know that.
[00:17:17] Speaker B: I can give great results.
[00:17:19] Speaker A: Yeah, I think that's important, too.
You guys get a lot of opportunities for continued education and training, and a lot of places don't do that. And for us, that's like, one of our top priorities is staff education because things are always changing. I mean, can you imagine if you went to your hairstylist and they never did any continued education and they gave you the same cut, color and style for your entire life? I mean, for me, that's kind of like what I equate it to. And so I just think that things are always changing. And just because they're doing something a little bit different now doesn't mean you've been doing it wrong. It just means that they found a way to improve it. And we're going to be at the forefront of making sure that we're educated on those new techniques and that we're always at the top of our game.
[00:18:07] Speaker B: Yeah, it's exciting.
[00:18:10] Speaker A: So what was your favorite place that we ate at? Because the food was top notch.
[00:18:14] Speaker C: That was good.
[00:18:15] Speaker B: I really liked the italian place.
[00:18:17] Speaker C: Avanti.
[00:18:18] Speaker A: I do, too.
[00:18:20] Speaker B: The decor was amazing. It was like walking to the sopranos.
[00:18:24] Speaker A: The food was really good.
[00:18:25] Speaker C: It was definitely set back in time.
[00:18:28] Speaker A: I would say, but it was so good.
And the service was amazing.
The owner was walking around the tables and asking how everybody's food was. I had the chicken parmesan. It was so good.
[00:18:43] Speaker B: We all shared our food.
[00:18:45] Speaker A: Yeah, we split a bottle of wine, a little bit of the Venus.
[00:18:49] Speaker C: It was really good.
[00:18:50] Speaker A: It was definitely a nice ending to a fantastic trip.
[00:18:53] Speaker C: It really was. My gosh. Yeah.
[00:18:54] Speaker A: We started the trip off great with a day at the spa. You guys work so hard.
[00:18:59] Speaker C: You're so sweet.
[00:19:01] Speaker A: Both have been put in charge of one of our teams, and you all do such an amazing job making sure that everything is done the way that it should be and that all the rooms are stocked and everything is replenished and we don't run out of things. And so you guys help me out so much. And so I just really wanted to show you my appreciation. Well, thank you.
Be able to relax and enjoy the day before you learned and educated yourselves like crazy for the following two days.
[00:19:29] Speaker C: Yeah, it was a beautiful day. It was a beautiful spa.
[00:19:32] Speaker A: It was.
[00:19:32] Speaker C: Everyone needs to go there.
[00:19:34] Speaker B: Yes, for sure.
Thank you for all the.
[00:19:38] Speaker C: Absolutely.
[00:19:40] Speaker A: Well, thank you both for sharing with me your trip in Arizona. I hope that you learned so much. I know you did. And I can't wait for our patients to come in and experience these new techniques. And please let us know how you're feeling about these new little additions to the scarlet treatment. Give us a call or text us. Let us know if you have an upcoming appointment. And we hope to see you soon after spring break so that you're not getting a scarlet and then going out in the sun because you've got to protect your skin.
But thank you both so much. And I know that you've got patience for the rest of the day, so I'll let you get back to it. But I hope you guys have a great day. And thank you for joining us on today's episode of Smartcast. And we'll see you next week. Our channel.
