[00:00:21] Speaker A: Hey, this is Lacey with Smartcast, and I'm here today with Hannah McKenzie, who came with me to the BTL conference this year. And we're going to go over all of the tips and tricks and some of the exciting things that we learned this weekend. Thanks for being here, girls.
[00:00:33] Speaker B: Yes, ma'am.
[00:00:34] Speaker C: Thanks for having us.
[00:00:36] Speaker A: Hannah came in on her off day just to be on the podcast.
[00:00:39] Speaker B: She's so cute.
[00:00:40] Speaker A: Such dedication. Wearing your little emphase shirt. Love it.
[00:00:43] Speaker B: Gotta represent.
[00:00:46] Speaker A: So this has been, I think, maybe my fourth or fifth conference. So I was really excited for the opportunity to bring you two and Heather as well, along with us. Heather couldn't be on the podcast today because she has a client right now booked and busy. We know that YouTube will give some good representation of the conference. So tell me some highlights, some of your favorite things about this past weekend besides the food.
[00:01:14] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh, the food was so good.
[00:01:16] Speaker B: The food was awesome.
[00:01:18] Speaker C: Well, it was both of our first work trips, I think, right?
[00:01:21] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:01:22] Speaker C: And it was really fun. Like, just the whole experience being in the hotel with everybody and, like, a.
[00:01:28] Speaker B: Really nice hotel, too.
[00:01:29] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh, it was so fun. We were like, this is luxurious. So we. We were having a lot of fun just being there. We met a lot of people.
The actual day of the panels, like the speakers and everything, were very informative. It was really fun.
I don't know, I was just happy to be there. And it kind of gave me some perspective on the aesthetics industry as a whole because I feel like I can get kind of like one track minded, like, come to work, do my job and go home. And this was like, oh, you know, there's 100 other people here that have these devices and they have testimonies with them. And it was fun just to hear everything.
[00:02:07] Speaker B: And also, to all of the other business owners there, they were not just like derm or Medspa. There was a lot of, like, primary care, hormone replacement therapy offices and things like that. So. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it was just interesting to get to hear everyone's, like, success story and how long they've had each device and how they use it and who uses it.
[00:02:34] Speaker A: Yeah, I think a lot of it, too, is hearing a lot of how they're incorporating it with the other services that they offer within their practices. There's a lot of talk about integrating semiglutide and hormone replacement therapy and how you can increase and enhance those results by using these BTL devices.
Another thing that we learned this weekend that we didn't even know yet was that they are completing some studies to show that the M face is actually increasing bone density, which is amazing because obviously, as we age, we start to lose our bone density and that bone starts to diminish. And so that's what holds the structure of our face. And if this device is building new bone density, that means that we're creating better structure for enhanced skin as well. Yeah. So it's going to not only help with the new muscle and tightening the skin, but just creating that really solid foundation again, which is so important.
[00:03:33] Speaker B: Yeah, I've had a few clients ask. They're like, okay, well, if it's radio frequency with the in face, am I going to be, like, burning my facial fat? And I'm like, no, we're just strengthening everything. So to have that study with the bone density behind it, it really, really helps to, like, back everything up and show that we're here to increase collagen and elastin.
[00:03:57] Speaker A: Yeah, well, with radio frequency, too, you have to hit a certain temperature to create apoptosis of the fat cells. So even with the m sculpt neo, the setting for the booty is it's only set to go to the temperature to create skin tightening and not to burn fat, because you don't want to burn fat on the booty. You want to tighten the skin, and you want to build new muscle tissue, but you do want to eliminate fat cells on the booty like you would on your stomach or your arms or your inner thighs or your outer thighs. So they have all of the presets for these treatments based on the area that you're treating, set for the precise treatment settings for that specific area. And they have the human body in mind in the way that it should look. And so they have the degree of settings to match that as well.
[00:04:48] Speaker B: And Hannah, I think you and I, like, talked about on the way home, we did not realize that with the emsculpt, it, like, heats up the tissue in, like, four minutes after being.
[00:04:58] Speaker C: Yeah, after, like, laying there.
He said that within, like, the first four minutes of starting your treatment, you're already starting to destroy fat cells. And I didn't know that. And that was the point where I was told, yeah, as soon as we.
[00:05:13] Speaker B: Get back to the office, really hurt us up. We're getting hooked up.
[00:05:16] Speaker A: Yeah, I know. It was so cute. During the conference, I was looking over, and not only were you guys paying such great attention, taking your notes, and so excited, but y'all were like, oh, my gosh, I forgot how great and wonderful these devices are. And now I need to do everything.
[00:05:30] Speaker C: No. That night in the hotel room, we're like, okay, this week we'll start our Emsculpt Neo, and then we'll do Xion. And then we'll do.
[00:05:38] Speaker B: And we're doing a juice cleanse.
[00:05:40] Speaker A: Heather has been skipping lunch with me because she's been locking herself in the BTL room doing treatments on herself.
[00:05:46] Speaker B: She's standing up with the emskulpt on her booty and then doing some xion on the belly. Like, that's dedication.
[00:05:53] Speaker C: And she looks amazing.
[00:05:55] Speaker B: That is so cool.
[00:05:56] Speaker A: I did the imsela today on my lunch break. Cause I was like, well, if she's not gonna go eat lunch with me, I'm gonna at least do something productive myself. So I sat in there and ate some leftover from yesterday.
[00:06:07] Speaker B: I have a client who just did her second mfem, and she can already see great results with it. Yeah, like, she's loving it. So is her partner, too, so, yeah, I love that for her.
[00:06:20] Speaker A: Really can tell. A big difference. We had a client today that we were running a few minutes late getting started on her because we've got some girls out today. But I had her set on the amsella while she was waiting, and she has, like, a six month old baby. She was like, oh, my gosh, I need more of these.
[00:06:34] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:06:36] Speaker C: The amsella definitely does a lot more than I thought it did.
So it actually helps with sciatica, which is great. I know that me and Laura both deal with that, so I texted her as soon as that, like, slide popped up. I was like, this will help with our sciatica. This is for us. And it also helps with incontinence, laxity.
[00:06:55] Speaker B: And also for males, their erectile dysfunction.
[00:06:58] Speaker C: Yep.
[00:06:59] Speaker A: They actually have a new term for it. It was so cute. Micah, our rep, was in today, and he was like, impella.
[00:07:05] Speaker B: And I was like, what?
[00:07:06] Speaker A: I love that.
[00:07:07] Speaker B: And Father's day is coming up.
[00:07:09] Speaker A: It is true. Yeah. We're going to be doing some cyber sales on Father's day, and you can be definitely looking for those emsculpt neo, the emsella for men, and some other really great male targeted specials to be available for purchase through our social media platforms.
[00:07:30] Speaker B: Skin better solo men's will be great for them, too.
[00:07:33] Speaker A: Yes, definitely. And then Mary Margaret is going to be back the end of this month. So on Wednesday the 26th, we are going to be hosting a little welcome back party for her. So we've got lots of really great specials planned for that. We're going to have a big event like we had for Doctor Jody yesterday, which was a huge success.
[00:07:56] Speaker C: It was so fun.
[00:07:57] Speaker A: Everybody had the best time and we made some cute little tiktoks. If you haven't seen them, go watch them because they are hilarious.
[00:08:02] Speaker B: I'm so sad because I wanted to at least, like, be up there with you guys to watch running around crazy with clients all morning.
[00:08:09] Speaker C: I have, like, 30 TikTok saved that I want to recreate. So we'll just knock them out.
[00:08:13] Speaker B: Cap cut.
[00:08:14] Speaker C: Yep. Cap cut. Love it.
[00:08:17] Speaker A: That's so fun.
[00:08:18] Speaker B: We're excited for Mary Margaret to come back.
[00:08:20] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh. I know.
[00:08:21] Speaker C: I miss her.
[00:08:22] Speaker A: I do, too. I text her every day. I'm like, are you back yet?
[00:08:24] Speaker B: Yeah.
Like, she just had her child.
[00:08:27] Speaker A: She did.
[00:08:28] Speaker B: Her baby.
[00:08:29] Speaker A: She did just have her baby two weeks ago.
[00:08:31] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:08:32] Speaker C: She also worked so close to having the baby, so it feels like she hasn't been gone that long.
[00:08:36] Speaker B: I know. You know?
[00:08:38] Speaker A: Yeah. Doctor Jody worked literally on Tuesday and then had her baby on Wednesday. Mary Margaret was out for like a week before she had the baby.
[00:08:47] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh.
[00:08:48] Speaker A: But she drives from Huntsville, so she needed a little bit of time just.
[00:08:53] Speaker B: To make sure that, just in case.
[00:08:55] Speaker C: She's dedicated.
[00:08:56] Speaker A: She is dedicated. Mary Margaret is a special part of our team. We love her so much.
[00:09:02] Speaker C: Love you, Mary Marg. Shout out, Mary Margaret.
[00:09:05] Speaker A: So Mary Margaret normally goes to the conferences with me, too, and she hasn't been able to go to several of them over the last couple years because of babies.
[00:09:14] Speaker B: Mm hmm.
[00:09:14] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:09:15] Speaker A: They're so cute, though. We love them. Not bitter at all.
[00:09:18] Speaker B: We'll take her place.
[00:09:20] Speaker C: I know we went to Nashville and we're like, on the way home, we could stop in Huntsville and see Mary Margaret.
[00:09:24] Speaker A: She was at the lake, or I would have.
[00:09:26] Speaker C: I know. See at the lake with a newborn. Love it.
[00:09:29] Speaker A: So the conferences are really a fun and exciting kind of a reminder of the technology that we have and how great it is and who all is a candidate for it and just really remotivate you because we do have so much technology at our practice, it's easy to kind of forget sometimes how great each service line is. We have eleven estheticians within our practice, and so you all kind of have your favorites and the things that you really like and you're passionate about. So we do really well with all of them, but sometimes it's really good just to have that reminder and that refresher of some technologies and kind of even outside of the practice and you can hear it from someone else. And you can hear stories from some of the speakers that are at the conferences, too, in different, unique ways that they're positioning these devices and how they're using it maybe a little bit differently than you have thought about before.
So I think it's just a really good opportunity whenever we can go to these conferences. And I'm super thankful for BTL for always creating such a fun and informative conference environment for us. And like you guys said, it was at the, the Conrad in Nashville, which was super nice. We got to go down early on Friday and spend the day at the pool, which was really nice and relaxing. It was a nice little break from the regular day to day. And then we had a nine to, like 04:00 conference. And then on Sunday, we just kind of got to get up and take our time and head back to Birmingham.
[00:11:01] Speaker B: Yeah, we had a photo shoot in our Conrad.
[00:11:03] Speaker A: Yeah, we did.
[00:11:05] Speaker B: Those were cute.
[00:11:06] Speaker A: So check our social media for that because we definitely took some cute pictures in our really deep bathtub. I'm still trying to figure out how.
[00:11:15] Speaker B: People get in and out of 3ft. I don't know how anyone would.
[00:11:20] Speaker A: Can you imagine comfortable people trying to, like, get their legs in and out of that bathtub?
[00:11:25] Speaker B: Or even like, having a glass of wine and then, you know, getting in the bathtub and, like, not being able to get back out?
[00:11:29] Speaker A: It could definitely drown it.
[00:11:30] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:11:31] Speaker C: I did take a bath on Saturday night.
[00:11:33] Speaker A: Y'all's bathtub was not as deep as mine, and Heather's there.
[00:11:36] Speaker C: Yeah, I know, but it was huge.
[00:11:37] Speaker B: We also had a separate shower.
[00:11:41] Speaker A: It was interesting, though.
[00:11:42] Speaker B: I'm a shower girly. I like my showers.
[00:11:44] Speaker A: Oh, I love a bath.
[00:11:46] Speaker C: I normally wouldn't take a bath in a hotel, but safe. I was like, okay, yeah, I want Mackenzie to talk about the xion a little bit. That's like our new favorite thing. Yeah.
[00:11:58] Speaker B: So great.
[00:11:59] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:11:59] Speaker B: The fraction more of the axion, the radio frequency microneedling has been a game changer for a few of my clients.
Like, age range between, let's just say, 29 years old and 62.
It has really helped to, like, plump up the skin, helps with their ice pick acne scarring, just helps to produce your own hair. I really feel like it's helped to fill in the gaps and help to firm the skin. I have a client in particular. She says that I have ironed out her mouth lines, like her jaw, facial fine lines and wrinkles.
She's so cute when she says stuff like that, but I really can tell a huge difference. And she's only done two.
[00:12:48] Speaker A: Yeah, that's great.
[00:12:49] Speaker B: And that's with the xion.
[00:12:50] Speaker A: The skin type production is what's so fascinating to me with the xion, and it works really well, too, for flushing out, like, lymphatic drainage in the stomach. So if you have extra fluid in your tummy, it's really good to help flush that out and tighten the skin and just hydrate that skin.
[00:13:11] Speaker B: And it's also, I've heard from clients that it's not as painful as the scarlet.
[00:13:18] Speaker A: Yeah, it's quicker, too.
[00:13:20] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. So they're not get a full face and neck and chest done in, like, you know, 40 minutes.
[00:13:26] Speaker A: Yeah. The xion would be kind of in line with, like, it would be the luminous, then the skin pen, then the xion, and then the scarlet. As far as pain scale. Mm hmm. Well, pain scale and treatment results and things like that. So the xion uses AI technology, and so it's just one pass versus two. And then that was crazy, too, when.
[00:13:49] Speaker C: They were talking about that and then.
[00:13:51] Speaker B: Like, turning the extended mode off for to hit that double chin jowl area.
[00:13:57] Speaker C: Yes.
That was something that I was really excited about is hearing them talk about treatment of the submentum with the exion microneedling and then also doing the m face submentum.
[00:14:11] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:14:12] Speaker C: That sounded like a really great treatment.
[00:14:14] Speaker B: And then go in with exion tightening treatment. Yeah, you can everything, Xiong. I'm like, give it to me. Like, I love it. I've always. I've liked it since we first.
[00:14:23] Speaker C: And everybody, you go to this conference, everybody that works for BTL looks amazing.
[00:14:29] Speaker B: I know. You're like, okay, it works. Did you do your Xeon three days ago?
[00:14:35] Speaker A: You know, they all, like, drop around with them in their car and on the neo bus.
[00:14:40] Speaker C: They're, like, hooked up in the back. Somebody's driving.
[00:14:44] Speaker B: I like the skin tightening treatment for, like, lip plumping, too.
[00:14:49] Speaker A: Oh, yeah.
[00:14:50] Speaker B: It's great for, like, an alternative for male or females who don't like botox, have a fear of needles. You know, you can go back in and give them a little bit of, like, a lip filler look without injection.
[00:15:02] Speaker A: Yeah. Or give them a preview of what it would look like they did get.
[00:15:06] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:15:06] Speaker A: So, I mean, it goes both ways. It can enhance results, be a preview for a result, or be a replacement for injections.
[00:15:14] Speaker B: I definitely want to try it. I haven't done lip filler in a while, but I just want to see if it helps to boost my remaining filler and my ha like, naturally, I feel like it would.
[00:15:27] Speaker A: I think it would be good too. Like, this is kind of silly, but I always, like, think about the earlobes.
[00:15:32] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, as we age. Earrings too, like, droop it down.
[00:15:37] Speaker A: Yeah, I think it would be good. Little add on area to do the earlobes, the tops of the hands.
[00:15:44] Speaker B: That's a big one.
[00:15:44] Speaker A: Over the knee area, just to add that hydration, help with any crepiness that they might be having.
The arms are really good, and even.
[00:15:53] Speaker B: Doing, like, xion back of the thigh after they finish a series of four or eight Emsculpt booty, just to really go up and snatch and smooth and tighten everything.
[00:16:06] Speaker A: Yeah. And just as kind of like a recap on the EMS sculpt neo. I think that many people don't know all of the areas that you can treat with Emsculpt Neo. They have indications for. We've treated calves. We've treated. You can treat tummy, booty, inner thighs, outer thighs, quads, hamstrings, biceps, and triceps.
[00:16:27] Speaker B: Yeah. I love it.
[00:16:28] Speaker A: So lots of treatment areas available. Oh, also in the flanks, we have flank applicators.
[00:16:33] Speaker B: Yes. That's my next go to area. Yeah.
[00:16:37] Speaker A: So doing the flank applicator with the neo and then doing a skin tightening treatment with the Xion, it's gonna be, like, really good. Very good.
[00:16:45] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:16:46] Speaker A: And then with the m face, we can treat forehead, cheeks, and cementum now, too.
[00:16:52] Speaker B: Mm hmm.
[00:16:52] Speaker A: So that's been really popular.
[00:16:54] Speaker B: They can also, like, swap out do, like, forehead and then cement them too. Mm hmm. Yeah.
[00:17:00] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:17:00] Speaker B: I've had a lot of questions about that. I'm like, no, we can tailor it to you, to your needs, to what you want.
[00:17:05] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:17:06] Speaker A: So they can do forehead and cheeks or cheeks in submentum, or they can do all four. And they do get a discount on the submentum if they purchase forehead and cheeks. A package of that.
[00:17:15] Speaker B: I like it.
[00:17:17] Speaker C: Yeah. I feel like we haven't skipped a beat with the BTL devices this summer. Sometimes we can slow down in the summer because we can't do, like, lasers or chemical peels or things like that, but they can still come in and do the BTL devices. So it's been a lot of fun doing those.
[00:17:32] Speaker B: There's, like, no downtime. I mean, yeah. If anything, you're a little pink a little bit after. Yeah. I always say, like, don't, you know, go, like, straight out and lay out right after, but. Right, you know.
[00:17:44] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:17:45] Speaker B: With the, right, with the radio frequency micro needling, obviously, you do have downtime. Yeah, but it's not too bad. The body treatment is really good.
[00:17:52] Speaker A: And then for, like, the emcella and the Emsculpt Neo, it does release ATP in the brain, and it gives you a boost of energy and helps you sleep better at night. So it's really an overall wellness device.
[00:18:04] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. I feel like it's not just for, like, aesthetic purposes, like, not just for, like, the way you look or, you know, your figure. It's also helping to, like, strengthen your core, I believe.
Was it Chris Robb? Maybe. He mentioned that he has a patient at his office in Tennessee that has.
Oh, gosh, what does he have, like.
[00:18:34] Speaker A: Multiple sclerosis or something?
[00:18:35] Speaker B: No. Oh, not cerebral palsy.
[00:18:38] Speaker C: I know what you're saying. I know what you're talking about.
[00:18:40] Speaker B: Parkinson's.
[00:18:40] Speaker A: Oh, yeah.
[00:18:41] Speaker B: He has a patient that has Parkinson's, and he has been doing a treatment or a series of the Emsculpt, and it's really helped his ability to.
[00:18:51] Speaker A: You always do get to hear stories at the conferences, too. For people that are in just, like, general health facilities that are doing this or family practice facilities, they do get the opportunity to treat more of that sort of thing. And even with emphase, with people that have, you know, one eye that droops down more than the other or like.
[00:19:12] Speaker B: Any, like, dental issues with the mouth.
[00:19:15] Speaker A: And so they're able to kind of do some corrections with these devices for people that otherwise wouldn't have anything to be able to treat that.
[00:19:24] Speaker B: Right.
[00:19:24] Speaker A: You know, you can treat some of those things with toxin therapeutically, but these will treat some therapeutic things as well, in addition to the cosmetic, you know, benefits of it.
[00:19:35] Speaker B: So I feel like a lot of the science behind it, it's very.
[00:19:39] Speaker A: Oh, yeah.
[00:19:40] Speaker B: Like, it's good. It's there.
[00:19:42] Speaker A: So they develop all of this in Prague.
That's where their manufacturing facility is, and that's where they do all their clinical studies and their. All of their.
[00:19:50] Speaker B: Okay, so next VTL conference, Prague, here we come.
[00:19:54] Speaker A: Right.
[00:19:55] Speaker B: They did set that up.
[00:19:56] Speaker A: They took all of the reps to the prague headquarters, and they don't just do cosmetic stuff. So BTL actually has a whole therapeutic side. So they have hundreds of devices that are specifically for therapeutic purposes. That's where the BTL devices for cosmetic even came from. So they were all manufactured specifically originally for therapeutic conditions, and then they just found the cosmetic benefits to it. Detox therapeutics started, and that's how, like, a lot of our medical grade skincare services, like, a lot of those skincare lines started in the therapeutic side, and they just happened to find that it had cosmetic benefit.
[00:20:36] Speaker B: Oh, the science. I love it.
[00:20:38] Speaker A: I do, too.
[00:20:39] Speaker B: Love the technology. It's always changing, evolving, and we get to be right in the middle of it and experience it first on, it's.
[00:20:49] Speaker A: Always something new, which is exciting.
So we're out of time, girls, but any final thoughts?
[00:20:55] Speaker C: Thanks, BTL.
[00:20:56] Speaker B: Yes, thank you, BTL. Thank you, Lacey, Carmen, thanks for taking us.
[00:21:01] Speaker C: We had so much fun.
[00:21:02] Speaker A: Well, I was so happy to take you guys. I love being able to share these experiences with our team and bring back all of this amazing knowledge to the rest of the girls. And we try to split it up and have a couple of different people get to go to different conferences because it really does just expand your perspective on all of it.
[00:21:25] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:21:26] Speaker B: So it's just a great refresher, and I feel like everyone needs that.
[00:21:30] Speaker A: Absolutely.
[00:21:31] Speaker B: Because you can forget every day.
[00:21:33] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:21:34] Speaker B: Well, especially keep it up.
[00:21:35] Speaker A: Like I said, we have so many different things that you guys learn about, and so it just keeps it fresh and exciting.
[00:21:40] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:21:41] Speaker A: Well, thank you both so much for joining me. Thank you so much for taking your time out this weekend to continue your education and grow in your careers and help our patients to get better experiences. And I love you both. And thank you so much.
[00:21:57] Speaker B: Love you.
[00:21:57] Speaker C: Love you.
[00:21:58] Speaker B: Bye bye.
[00:22:00] Speaker A: Thank you for joining us on today's episode of Smartcast, and we'll see you next week.
